DESCRIPTION: The first thing you notice about Eoin is that he's out-of-this-world adorable. The second thing you notice is that he's on the small side, but that doesn't matter - as he says, the best things come in small packages. That holds very true for Eoin. With deep brown eyes, a heart-shaped face, flawless eyebrows and dark brown bangs that he's constantly playing with, Eoin is pretty. There's no other word for it. His hands are always manicured and the nails painted in a rainbow of colours, often fluttering with nerves or emotions but very steady when mixing potions. Surprisingly for those who don't know him, Eoin has a septum piercing and often considers getting a tattoo, though his dislike of needles has kept him from it so far (also, what would he get?? It's a dilemma). Though he might fly under your radar on the first glance (literally - he's tiny), Eoin is the kind of person that always merits a second glance.
PERSONALITY
POSITIVE TRAITS: Voice of an angel, thoughtful, incredibly loyal, sweet, always tries to do the right thing by others, talented at potions, excellent cat parent, nurturing, open, friendly, helpful but can be firm when it counts, very good to his family, strong moral compass, mysteriously good at sass.
NEGATIVE TRAITS: Sometimes makes mistakes with the best intentions, is startled easily by unnecessary rudeness and mean spirits, finds it difficult to forgive said rudeness and mean spirits if there's no obvious reason for it, bossy, self-conscious, likes praise, occasional flashes of temper.
LIKES: Cats, harmonies, nail polish, when a potion turns out just right, experimenting with different potions, sketching, healing, music, brightening people's day, fashion, keeping his pharmacy in good shape, children, life in general.
DISLIKES: Chipped nails, people mispronouncing his name, people ignoring him or his instructions, assumptions that he doesn't know what he's doing, rudeness, people who are mean to animals, small dark spaces (he will panic! very bad!!!)
HOBBIES: Singing, adopting ugly cats, being too fabulous for words, drawing, dressing well, dressing others well, being friendly, testing out new potions, being an ethereal angel.
GENERAL PERSONALITY: Eoin, having been raised in an incredibly kind and open environment, has grown up to value kindness, friendship, family and empathy, and it certainly shows. Imbued with a strong moral compass, he does his best to follow it and his heart and not hurt anyone, ever. That certainly backfires on him, in more ways than one (firstly, because you'll make yourself sick with worry trying to make everyone happy, and secondly because he has a temper that can be roused with indignation) but he does his best. He rules his pharmacy with an iron fist in a silk glove, being kind but firm with patients and helpful with healers. Outside of work, he's generous and thoughtful with his friends (if bossy at times), though he has a surprisingly wicked sense of humor that tends to shock people that don't know him. While he isn't, and never has been, a genius at slightly more theoretical subjects such as Charmwork and Transfiguration, he's worked hard at the physical arts of Potions and Herbology and doesn't mind occasionally blowing up his cauldron in pursuit of a better potion. Quick to smile, quick to sass, and quick to give a kind word, Eoin is the kind of ethereal creature that you want to keep around.

Character History: Once upon a time there was a Mitchie....
Our tale begins far before Eoin's time, with his grandparents. His grandfather Cavanaugh was a member of a very friendly Muggle family of woodworkers, which has lived in their quaint Irish town since anyone can remember. Rhys Cavanaugh went into the family business as the only boy out 6 kids, without question or complaint. He met Elle Loraine, a reporter from Dublin, in his early twenties, and was promptly smitten. She felt the same, and within a year had moved to his hometown, talked her way into the Mayor's office and started to manage the town's finances. Laoise, their only child, was born a few years later, and the Cavanaugh home settled into happy equilibrium. A nicer set of Muggles you'd never meet.
Laoise Cavanaugh, after graduating, worked as waitress in a small pub. Living with her parents, she worked towards her qualification as a midwife, happy to remain in her hometown for the rest of her life. It was nice, there, and who wanted to go live in a big, messy city anyways? Certainly not she. She had to go into town enough with her father due to his doctor's appointments, and that was enough for her. One particular time, when Rhys had to go in for surgery to remove some skin lesions, Laiose went with him as usual. What was unusual was the young nursing resident she met with a gorgeous voice and a very convincing smile. The smile led to a kiss, and one thing led to another until Laoise found herself very happily sequestered in a storage closet with said nursing resident. She didn't know she was pregnant until she returned home, and when she tried to find the father (whose name she couldn't remember), she had no luck. Still, the Cavanaughs weren't about to let it bother them, and when Eoin was born 9 months later, he was welcomed with open arms.
Eoin charmed everyone from the moment they saw him. His mother and grandparents loved him fiercely, and the rest of the town soon followed suit (or Elle had a word with them), resulting in an upbringing that was full of love and happiness. Even though his father was an unknown and he was raised by a young single mother and her parents, Eoin didn't seem to be bothered. In his teenage years he briefly attempted to find his dad, but had no success and backed off. That is a mystery that he's happy to let rest.
When Eoin turned eleven, a representative of Hogwarts showed up in the quiet Irish town. The Cavanaughs, Muggle through and through, were briefly shocked but mostly delighted that Eoin had the chance to go to such a prestigious boarding school. He was going to live in a castle! And learn magic! That, Elle said very practically, would be of some use to them in their old age. And so Eoin was trundled lovingly off to Hogwarts, where he was promptly Sorted into Hufflepuff (it was barely a question) and plunged headfirst into the wizarding world. Two years behind the infamous Harry Potter, Eoin (thankfully) had a wonderful group of companions to help him figure out exactly how to manage, and exactly how to manage when that Potter kid kept disrupting their school year.
He had never understood exactly why blood prejudice was a thing; it seemed silly and childish to him. However, at the end of his fourth year and certainly into his fifth, Eoin had to learn quickly. As a muggleborn student during the time of the Muggle-born Registration Committee, Eoin soon found himself on the receiving end of some rather uncomfortable attentions - sometimes literally, as the Carrows were more than happy to take out their frustrations on Muggleborn students. He did his best to stay under their radar, but sometimes enough was enough and Eoin paid the price for his kind heart and short temper. He managed to stay mostly in one piece until the end of the year and the Battle of Hogwarts. Not a fighter by trade or by nature, Eoin was quite relieved to leave the castle with the other under-age students. He and some other students found a quiet corner to wait, pressed close together for comfort but saying nothing, until finally someone came down from the castle to tell them it was over.
After that, school proceeded rather normally. His year had a chance at their OWLs and NEWTs in due time, and Eoin graduated with an eye towards Potions and healing. After a brief apprenticeship at an apothecary and a briefer summer fling with a police officer in his hometown, Eoin snagged the just-open Pharmacist/potioneer position at St. Mungo's. He has settled in there, ruling the roost, learning new things and generally brightening up the place with his BFF Mali.
