DESCRIPTION:Theo's eyes are dark brown, large and round. They are the most prominent feature on his face, even as they sit below his heavy brow. His hair is black and undercut - short on the sides, long (and usually windswept) on the top. Standing tall at 6' 5", Theo's height contributes to his leanness, though he is packed with hard muscle from his days as a laborer.

Due to the prominence of some facial features over others, Theo's expression is constantly caught between sad-puppy-dog and lost-confused child. His wide features create an open book of his face and emotions - Theo simply can't hide what he's feeling. This shows throughout his body, as well. The angles of his posture are a clear indicator of the state of his mood; and he talks with his hands to express what he's feeling when the words simply won't do it.

GENERAL PERSONALITY:Theo is the emotional one of the family. His older brother, Jon, is bright and exuberant. His little sister, Meg, is friendly and compassionate. Some would call Theo your typical Middle Child. He is completely incapable of hiding any of his emotions, good or bad, and he often lashes out to let everyone know it. If he had any semblance of constraint, he probably would have been a great actor. Alas, Theo is impulsive and pretty much uncontrollable.

This is not to say Theo only cares about himself. He is fiercely loyal to his family. He also shares in his sister's compassion for other people, even strangers. The thought of others suffering breaks his heart, and he will usually do anything to lend a hand. His loyalty and compassion also lend to a mean jealous streak. Because he feels so intensely, he often can't understand why those feelings aren't reciprocated back to him. At the age of 29, Theo has learned to have some hold on this; but it flashes through in emotionally heavy moments.

As long as his loved ones aren't involved, Theo is great to have around in an emergency. His tendency to move a mile a minute meshes well with the nature of traumatic events. Somehow, when surrounded by the pain and fear of other people, Theo experiences moments of clarity and levelheadedness - he is strangely calm and focused. Those moments quickly sidle away when the tension is over, however.

Character History: Theo was born four years after his older brother, right in the very same spot - at the family homestead, surrounded by cousins and aunts and uncles from his very first breath. The difference between the two male babies, however, was striking. Whereas Jon (and eventually Meg) took after Marigold, with her golden hair and soft features; Theo took after dear old Dad - all dark and defined. Though he looked different, Jon loved little Theo all the same. Theo spent much of his childhood being carried or dragged around by his older brother, who wanted to show him the world. Jon was also one of the only people who could weather through Theo's wild temper tantrums, which started at a very early age and never really stopped.

When Meg was born six years after Theo, both brothers were joyous. Theo quite liked having younger cousins at the homestead to boss around - a baby sister all his own was like a gift from the gods. Of course, Theo himself was still bossed around by Jon - and thus he had to share his beloved little sister. When Jon went off to Hogwarts, however, Theo reigned over the younger kids at the homestead like the king rooster.

The death of Marigold Ashland, right after Meg was born, had a strange effect on Theo. Everyone was afraid to tell the young boy of her passing, actually, as they feared how he might react. Strangely enough, surrounded by his grieving family, Theo remained incredibly calm, taking on somewhat of a matronly role - making sure everyone else was okay. When their grief eventually dulled, however, his came - and oh, did it. He was inconsolable for weeks, lashing out at everyone and everything, even spraining a cousin's wrist in a mysterious accident.

The Ashlands and Co. learned to live with the volatile little boy. Though he was rash, he was lovable, and very loving. It helped considerably that the Wizarding world was once again getting back on its feet after the apparent defeat of Voldemort – a dramatic and emotional little boy didn’t seem so much to handle when the halfblooded Ashlands no longer had to live their lives in fear.

Hogwarts had a bit more trouble handling the dramatic and emotional not-so-little-anymore Theo, once he got there. He didn't do very well in school, but scraped by with a few acceptable grades, especially in Potions and Defense Against the Dark Arts, which had a flair for the dramatic. He was very sociable, though this didn’t necessarily make him popular – in some circles, a better word to describe Theo’s reputation was ‘notorious’. He made it through to graduation, though, with nothing more serious than an inordinate number of detentions and black eyes.

After school, Theo moved back home - there really was no other choice for such a volatile young man, and times were growing darker in these years. He worked with his uncle James as a residential groundskeeper, mowing lawns and trimming hedges at the surrounding country estates. Theo performed this backbreaking work for nearly seven years. When he turned 24, Voldemort fell once again, and the Ashlands were once again freed from a life of fear. This sense of freedom finally motivated Theo, old enough to understand it now, to take advantage of it and do something with his life. He signed on at St. Mungo’s to become a Medi-Wizard and has been there ever since.
