Why ever did the little blonde Puff think it was a good idea to explore the castle in the middle of the night he would never remember. In fact he regretted it, the castle was dark, it was scary and it was very possible that he could bump into Peeves and get pranked, a prefect or head boy and girl and get into trouble, a professor and get into big trouble or the Bloody Baron and get eaten. If the stories of the Slytherin ghost were true. Even if not then the ninja toothbrushes might get him....possibly.
Still Dominic was now wandering the corridors by himself, after lights out, and feeling very nervous indeed. If he could avoid getting caught all the better. The castle did look very different in the darkness. It looked a lot less friendly and a lot more eerie. Perhaps it was the darkness or perhaps it was the lack of the hustle and bustle of students wandering around the place. The silence, that what was doing it. There was something creepy about the lack of sound from the students and, instead, the creaking of the old school building and the sounds that you don’t usually hear when you have other sounds round you drowning it out but can hear in the dead silence of night.
He jumped and turned around with a start. The 11 year old boy was sure he heard a sound behind him. He was about to draw his wands but realised that he didn’t really know any good spell to protect himself. Instead he just hid for a few minutes in case a monster or worst a prefect or professor was nearby. When it came clear to him it was just his own mind playing tricks on him the 1st year left the little nook he hid in and started off on his adventure again.
After a few more steps he stopped again. This time he was sure that he heard a noise and it was right behind him. What if it was a troll, or a dinosaur or a super secret cucumber trying to take control of his mind?!? Scared, over what was actually his own overactive imagination, he ran off as fast as he could down the corridor, and in the relatively darkness he did not see the figure that he was about to bump into.
