DESCRIPTION: Rolf is a bit taller than average and a little on the thinner side, though built with lean muscle from his very active hobbies and inability to ever sit down for very long. He tries to keep his hair short and close to avoid..accidents, but often sports a bit a facial hair from forgetting to shave. He prefers comfortable clothing he can move in, usually opting for a few layers and a jumper, and some khakis. He has a pair of trusty boots he almost always wears even when they're not exactly appropriate. Rolf has a swarthy complexion that is surprisingly clear given his proclivity for going near things that like to leave marks - he does have a few long scars along his knuckles, as well as a divot of a scar above his right eyebrow. 

Rolf is incredibly restless, and exceptionally awkward about it. He cannot hold still, always fiddling with something or bouncing on his heels or darting his eyes all around the room and back again. He looks positively nervous, but he only actually feels that way some of the time. He just can't hold still. He doesn't make a lot of eye contact, either, which is tough for both his professional life and his social life. All of this together makes a rather clumsy young man, too, always moving around but never looking where he is going.

GENERAL PERSONALITY: Rolf is a very passionate person. He has many, many interests and endeavors, and always complains about not having enough time to do everything that he wants. Such is life for such an inquisitive person. Every thing on this Earth, natural and unnatural and even supernatural, raises a question for him and he cannot rest until he has the answer. Not that he rests much, anyway. Rolf enjoys what he does so much he doesn't really see the need for times of leisure.

Given where his interests mainly lie, Rolf has to be an adventurous and brave soul - but just looking at him, you might not ever know it. He's good with plants, good with animals, but pretty rubbish with humans. He's shy and withdrawn with most, too aloof to notice much, and embarrassed about it all. This makes his social interactions rather awkward. However, if he finds a brain he can pick, a whole other side of Rolf emerges. That passion pokes its head out and he can get quite animated in conversations he is enjoying. Rolf doesn't hate people, either; he just doesn't fit very well with them. He does have people he cares about and just like everything else, he cares for them very deeply.

Character History: Apollo spent most of his young life traveling between England and the US, but it was in London where he found a home. He met Ever in her workplace on one of his copywriter contracts. She was a Muggle and an accountant and generally the complete opposite of the wizard writer who was pursuing her - on the outside, at least. Ever actually had a fantastic imagination that she was never really allowed to foster, but Apollo drew it out of her something fierce. She fell in love with his words first, his real words that filled the stacks and stacks of journals in his apartment. And then, through two years of dating and a proposal, Apollo was allowed to reveal his world to her and she fell in love with that, too. They married and, deciding to go all in, quit their jobs and started a business together, a small little printing press. These commitments kept them more often in England, but Ever was happy to join Apollo on his journeys to the States.

A few years into marriage, the two had a son - Rolf. Rolf grew up surrounded by love and words. The printing press was moderately successful, and Apollo was able to use it to introduce his poetry to the world. He was never more than a locally known writer, but it was far more than enough for him to have people actually reading his words, and to have bound volumes of his words sitting next to the greats in his library. Rolf grew up in this library, obsessing over everything he could wrap his little brain around - but nothing was more exciting to him than his grandfather's encyclopedia on so-called fantastic beasts.

Once young Rolf was bitten by this obsession, his life became heavily influenced by his grandfather, who was joyous to see the boy take such an interest. Every time Newt saw the boy he had fifty new questions for him, and he saw the boy quite a lot. Rolf's obsession only grew when he got to Hogwarts - with a newly added love of herbology being thrown into his love for magical creatures, and the library of his dreams containing everything he could ever want to know about either.

Rolf was a very smart boy, but he was not so successful socially. Even when he was a kid, he preferred staying at home to read while the other boys tried to get him outside to play football. At Hogwarts, it was much the same. If he wasn't in the library, he was in the greenhouse, or poking around at the edge of the Forbidden Forest - but he was nearly always alone. That didn't bother Rolf so much. He didn't feel alone, surrounded by so much life.

Rolf also adopted his father's love of writing. While poetry never really caught on with him and he was too aloof to care much for current events, Rolf found a happy medium in writing about the plants and animals he studied. After Hogwarts, he spent a year or so freelancing articles and essays before the Daily Prophet offered him a full-time columnist position. Rolf spends his days now like he has spent most of his other days - studying, exploring, and writing about what he finds.
