Almost a week since the last full moon and Dani had finally walked off all the soreness in her body. Her injuries had been fairly average this time around. In fact, the usual bumps and bruises were almost a relief after the fire of the previous full moon. The burn on her arm was finally healed too, thank Merlin. And tonight was turning out to be a good night for tips, so all things considered, Dani was actually having a pretty good day. That should’ve been her first clue. Any time things started to get sunny, the other shoe decided to drop. And today that shoe took the form of a Medi-Wizard. She had just mixed up a drink behind the bar and passed it off with a smile when a young man slid into the newly opened seat in front of her. Nothing out of the ordinary there. Lots of people came through the pub in the evenings. But one look at his face was enough to make Dani’s heart skip a beat. It was the healer from the shack. Crap. Not that he hadn’t been kind that day. Just the opposite. He had been far kinder than Dani had expected from someone who didn’t know her. She just hadn’t thought she would ever see him again. But now he was here. He had found out who she was and where she worked, and while the fact he hadn’t turned her over to the Ministry was reassuring, it still made her extremely uncomfortable that this man she didn’t even know held a secret that could ruin her life. She was unregistered and working in a public place, and this could be all sorts of terrible if it went sideways. For a second Dani just stood there, hand hovering over a cleaning rag. “Hi.” The single awkward syllable seemed to shatter whatever spell she was under. She picked up the rag and began wiping at a ring on the bar with a tad more force than was strictly necessary. “Can I get you a drink?” Please let that be the only reason he was here. That was manageable. She could serve him and they could pretend like nothing had ever happened. But if he was here to pry or blackmail her or threaten her into registering, Dani had no idea what she would do. Tristan McAlister

Liquid Anesthesia. That's what Tristan called his drinks, a little potion to take the edge off a miserable day at work. He loved his job most of the time, especially now that he had his old partner back and could ease into the long lost sense of normalcy. There was the occasional time where it was just too much. Call after call, someone was suffering. Other times it was just too much stupidity for him to stomach. Tristan wasn't necessarily an extraordinarily brilliant man but he did have a terrible constitution when it came to dealing with other people's idiocy. Whatever it was that drove him into The Three Broomsticks that night was just something he wanted to forget. He wanted to rinse his brain in the numbing effects of alcohol and wash away all memory the past twelve or so hours.
The Hogsmeade pub wasn't his normal scene, he'd go for something in Diagon or even one of the muggle places he and Theo often frequented after work but he didn't necessarily want to face the other regulars tonight, preferring to drink alone. Normally the tall blonde would take up residence in a corner booth. It was hard for drunk patrons you might have slighted in your past drinking life to sneak up on you and start a fight with a sucker punch if your back was too a wall but something piqued his interests away from skulking in the shadows of the far booth and over to the bar.
A familiar face. At least he thought the face was familiar, it was hard to tell without the layers of dirt. He made his way over to the bar, intimidating a smaller man out of his seat with a leer as his massive frame loomed a bit too close for comfort. Tristan sat down once the seat was vacated which was right about the time that she looked up. His head tilted curiously to the side as she seemed to shut down, an amused quirk at the corner of his lips. He let her work through her shock, eventually managing to force out a greeting. It was unclear what put him in that seat, if he was interested in how she was healing or if he just wanted to watch her squirm. Funny thing about Slytherins, they could be your best friend and your worst enemy all at the same time. "Whiskey, hold the hexes."

The order was clearly meant to be a joke, but Dani suddenly wasn’t in a laughing mood. She really had no idea what to make of this situation. And to be fair, he did have a reason for his request. “Fair enough.” She had to turn away from the bar to grab a bottle, giving her a second to take a breath and let it out. If she got uptight, people would notice. And the healer didn’t seem to have any nefarious purpose in mind. It was just damned hard to relax around here lately seeing as there were constantly enforcers and hit wizards poking around the place.
Her nerves were more or less under control when she turned back around with glass and bottle in hand. Dani poured the whiskey without a word. When she pushed the glass toward him, it was using the arm he had patched up near the shack. Good as new thanks to him. “First one’s on the house.” That was the very least she could do. Besides, it had been a good night for tips. She could afford to cover a drink for someone else.
She picked up the rag again, fully intending to go back to cleaning the bar so she wouldn’t have to talk, but something stopped her. That man might very well have saved her life. Both by patching her up and by not telling anyone what she was. “Thank you.” The words sounded quiet compared to the low roar of the pub, especially since Dani was looking down. But she looked up as she elaborated. “There’s a lot of people that wouldn’t have done what you did. So thank you.” She twisted the rag in her hands before adding, “I’m Dani, by the way.” He already knew where she worked. Giving her name now couldn’t possibly hurt anything. And given what had already happened, she had a feeling he could probably be trusted with it.

His witty comment apparently fell flat. Most would shrug it off and move on but Tristan was someone who constantly craved approval and it bruised his pride just a little tiny little bit, although his face remained more amused than anything. He hardly knew the girl, she didn't get a peak behind the curtain. There was something about her, though, that was unassuming and easy to like, that smoothed out the rough edge that predisposed him to biting sarcasm in the face of unappreciated jokes. When she turned to collect his drink and herself he leaned his large frame against the bar, propping up on his elbows.
When the young woman turned away and fixed his drink without a word he thought that was that, they were done here. He did his job as Medi-Wizard, she did her job as injured person but then she spoke, telling him that she was covering his drink. There were several pun based quips he could make, his favorite being where he declined the gesture due to money burning a hole in his pocket or something along the lines but life hadn't been very nice to Tristan lately so he figured he ought to to accept a little kindness here or there and return the favor by not being a dick. The blonde inclined his head in thanks before lifting the glass to his lips and enjoying the numbing burn of alcohol in his throat.
And, the woman, who introduced herself as Dani, apparently wasn't done talking either. Talking about what he did, which technically could get him in a lot of trouble, made him feel slightly uncomfortable. He shifted on his bar stool and played it off with a raise of his eyebrows. "I'm fairly certain most people would order a drink." It was better left unsaid and forgotten. He could see that her arm was functional, at the very least so he'd done his job and there was no reason to dwell on that day. The Medi-Wizard instinct in him wanted to reach out and seize the arm so he could check for signs of infection given the woman's reluctance over going to the hospital but he simply took another long, thoughtful sip. "Tristan." Perhaps he really couldn't let it go and be in the past, adding "That's a pretty nice arm you've got. Functional and with all it's skin and everything." along with a wink.
