Educational Decrees of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
The following are a list of rules and regulations for students of Hogwarts, which can be amended or expanded by the staff or the caretaker. Note that breaking any one of these rules can result in detention or expulsion, at the discretion of the faculty member involved.
1. Do not enter the Forbidden Forest unless accompanied by or with the express permission of a faculty member.
2. No spells may be performed on another being with the intent of harming that person.
3. No spells may be performed in the corridors.
4. Boys are not permitted in the girls' section of the dormitories.
5. A list of illegal items at Hogwarts may be found in the caretaker's office, and these items are subject to seizure and holding until the end of term should a student be found to possess one.
6. Students shall not leave the Hogwarts grounds unless accompanied by a parent and with the express permission of the Headmaster.
7. Visitors must obtain permission from the Headmaster or Deputy Headmaster.
8. Students who wish to visit Hogsmeade must have a signed slip from a parent or guardian giving them permission.
9. Students are not permitted in faculty areas, including but not limited to: the kitchen, offices, and the faculty lounge.
10. Students are not permitted in any dormitory other than their House's dormitory.
11. Students must be in their dormitories by 10:00 p.m. and remain there until 6:00 a.m.
12. Swimming or boating on the Black Lake is forbidden.
13. Feeding the giant squid (or otherwise interacting with said squid) is forbidden.
14. The Restricted Section of the library is forbidden to students without the express written permission of a professor.
15. No books in the Restricted Section may be removed from the library.
16. Uniform must be worn at all times while on Hogwarts grounds; robes may be removed when not in class or assemblies.
17. Students may use magic to defend themselves or respond to an emergency
18. Students must attend all classes, meals, and assemblies unless given express written permission to the contrary.
19. Alcohol is prohibited on Hogwarts grounds.
20. Prefects and the Head Boy and Girl are authorized to hand out detentions for wrongdoing.
ADDITIONAL RULES MADE BY FORMER CARETAKER, MR. ARGUS FILCH
1. No running in the corridors.
2. No Fanged Frisbees in the corridors.
3. No roughhousing in the corridors.
4. Objects thrown in the corridors will be confiscated.
5. Do not track mud or dirt or any unsanitary material on the floors.
6. Students who break the rules may behung by their wrists in the dungeons subject to approved punishment by a professor.
