DESCRIPTION:Sera has beautiful red loose ringlets that fall to just past her shoulders and go a pretty strawberry blonde in the summer. She loves her hair and rarely ties it up and if she does it's only in a loose messy bun. Sera has a nervous habit of tucking it behind her ears - futilely, I might add - repeatedly. Along with her red hair her face is covered in freckles and when she blushes her cheeks go bright pink which serves to further highlight said freckles. Sera's eyes are a striking blue-green and it's rare to find her without some sort of colour on her lips.

Sera's style involves baggy clothes and summer dresses and not much else. She hates the constriction of tight clothes and shoes. She's either in summery sandals or often barefoot - she'll only wear closed in shoes if she has to - yet another reason to dislike winter. In fact, the only thing Sera likes about winter - besides Christmas, of course - are the comfortable sweaters she can wear.

She's taller than average and rather on the skinny side of things. Despite hating the constricting feeling of tight clothes and shoes, she loves jewellery. She likes to wear the muggle healing stone necklaces - she's not quite sure why they think the stones will help, but she thinks that the idea is cute and the stones are pretty. She's rarely found without one.

GENERAL PERSONALITY: Sera has a wonderfully sweet character, if not a little boisterous. She's good at sensing other people's emotions, though not so good at keeping to herself. She has a habit of invading personal space and refusing to follow the rules. She's intelligent and inventive and likes to add a splash of herself into anything she does - she enjoys standing out and strongly dislikes being a crowd-follower or a sheep.

While she's outgoing, she's surprisingly shy when it comes to romance - she's only kissed one person and that was back in her third year. Sera's thoughtful nature and big heart means that she makes an excellent friend though. She's determined to make things better - and as such has a tendency to insert herself into other people's troubles, whether she's wanted or not.This can make her come off as a little bit of a bossy sort of person sometimes. Sera is a big believer in change for the better - as is clear in her experimental work on potions and spells and such. She constantly tries to improve things, loves surprises and welcomes the unexpected. .

Sera can be a little bit spacey sometimes, as she's easily distracted, and ideas often catch her unawares. Her intelligent brain is constantly giving her new ideas and she's always ready to attempt to make such thoughts into reality.

Character History: Queenie was never very close to her immediate family. It wasn't that she disliked them, but just didn't connect well with them. It seemed that all they ever talked about was animals when Queenie much preferred to talk about spells and the magic that belonged to witches and wizards, not the beasts of the world. As a result for her lack of familial connection, she often ran away. She would always return after a few days, and after the first few times, her family began to worry far less. Most of her young life was spent split between two countries - America and England - and when the time came for her to attend school, she chose to live in America with her namesake aunt, Queenie, and attend Ilvermorny, where she was sorted into Thunderbird.

Brandon Flanagan was born and raised on a quiet farm in Ireland where all their income relied on how much produce they sold at the market. He was the youngest of five boys and so lived in hand-me-downs and the shadows of his brothers. He did his best to pull his weight on the farm, but often the work was split evenly between the brothers, and it took far longer for the youngest to complete his part. All of the children on the farm had been homeschooled, but when Brandon's letter came, he chose to attend Hogwarts instead. It was a stretch to pay the fees, but his parents had given all brothers the option, so they made sure that Brandon was able to have his wish. He was sorted into Hufflepuff for his value of hard work, though he wasn't the stereotypical bright and cheerful Hufflepuff. He kept a small group of two close friends and shyed away from even talking to too many other people.

After school, Queenie disappeared in terms of family. No one knew where she was, and she liked it that way - at least for a while. In Ireland she took up a job first as a waitress and later as a Quidditch Scout for the Ballycastle Bats and spent quite a bit of her time in pubs and bars, looking for unlikely talent. It was in one such pub that she met Brandon, who was a barkeep and a herbologist in his spare time. Taken with Queenie the moment he laid eyes on her, Brandon claimed to be rather good at Quidditch, which spurred a meeting at the pitch later that week so that she could see this talent of his.

It turned out that Brandon was useless at Quidditch, and instead he asked her out on a date. As Queenie was a good few years older than him, she didn't expect it to lead anywhere, but she was rather wrong. They were married within two years time, and he even convinced her to visit her family again. Queenie was happy in the marriage, and she thought Brandon was too. Unfortunately, barely three months after their marriage, Queenie discovered her new husband cheating on her. Quite a force to be reckoned with when angry, she scared the rest of the truth out of him - the woman he was with he was supposedly engaged to, and there was two other such unknowing girlfriends. Queenie didn't hesitate in kicking him out. However she received a somewhat unexpected souvenir of their relationship some months later.

1981 brought Serendipity into the world - named as such for the rather unhappy chance that Queenie had fallen for Brandon. It was a bitter name, but Serendipity never thought it a bad one - she rather liked having such an uncommon name. Queenie, over the past year of contact with her immediate family, had grown a lot closer with her mother than she had ever thought possible. This newly formed bond earned her daughter her middle name. Serendipity was given the last name of her mother rather than her father, and Queenie herself changed her name back. Queenie chose to live in Ireland - albeit a different part from before, but visited Newt and Tina often.

Serendipity, unlike her mother, loved Newt's book about fantastic beasts and took a great liking to magical creatures. She didn't ask too many questions - she preferred to read the answers from his book. But often she would be there when her cousin Rolf was, and she liked to listen to her grandfather answer the boy's questions. She liked to draw the creatures as well - often adding her own 'improvements' to them. She thought her artworks were wonderful gifts for her grandparents - and they never gave her any reason to think otherwise. Her drawings were hung at every corner of the house (at least until she was ten and demanded they all be taken down lest she die of embarrassment).

When she was eleven, there came the inevitable letter for Hogwarts, and Sera was beyond excited. The sorting hat considered putting her in Ravenclaw for her love of learning things, but she insisted she only liked learning about magical creatures and demanded to be put in Hufflepuff like her grandfather. Seeing as Hufflepuff was the Sorting Hat's second choice, Sera was placed there and was exceptionally happy for it. It was probably a good thing she hadn't been sorted into Ravenclaw, too, for she quickly discovered that while she liked to learn things, she hated learning them the way the school liked to teach her. She wanted to change things up, keep it interesting - add 'improvements' to spells and potions. She strongly disliked her classes - particularly potions, in which she always wanted to add other ingredients to the recipe. Despite her aversion to the classes being taught, she made a healthy number of friends and was a lovely, kind person. She often went to the professors' offices to talk to them about the subjects she liked - she actually enjoyed the learning when it was outside the confines of a classroom.

Sera graduated with relatively high marks - Os in Potions, Care of Magical Creatures and an E in Herbology. Her other subjects were unimportant to her, but she mostly got As, and managed to scrape a few other Es. She spent her first two years out of school unemployed and rather detached from the world. She built a small house in a forest nearby Dorset - where Newt lived - and didn't leave very often. She had her own garden and vegetable patch, and really only left to see Newt and Tina, and occasionally to see friends, though they mostly had to come to see her. She spent her time working on new potions and adding her own 'improvements' to potion recipes, and managed to even tweak a few spells so that they fit what she wanted better. When she turned nineteen, her birthday present to herself was a niffler named pickles. He lives in a burrow in the greenhouse, far away from any of her possessions on the shinier side of things, but is an affectionate little fellow when not distracted by such things. He has his own collection of sparkly things - mostly jewellery - buried in his little burrow. A few times Sera has forgotten to take small pieces of jewellery like earrings off and has had to surrender them to Pickles lest he try and bite them off her. Despite these minor obstacles, Sera loves him like her own child and often heads out to the greenhouse to give him snuggles.

But after a time away, she began to feel lonely. It wasn't that she didn't have people - because she had her grandparents and her friends who she saw often, but more that she wasn't meeting anyone new. So she suspended her work on potions and spells, and decided to take up a job. At first it was a waitress at a small coffee shop in the outskirts of London, and then a waitress at the Leaky Cauldron, and then a receptionist at the Ministry. Recently, however, she's taken up a job at the hospital - one which involves potions. She loves the idea of working with potions as well as helping people, but it probably won't be long until she tries to add an 'improvement' of hers to a potion and gets in big trouble.

Queenie refused to speak to Sera about her father her whole life, and while she is a little curious about him, she's always figured he must have either died or done something terrible, so she's never been all that interested. She has no idea that he passed due to a nasty hit of Dragon Pox in 2001.
