The Watsons had moved from the sleepy countryside to the bustling busy city sometime last summer. The family flower business had gotten an upgrade from quiet little village store to trendy city shop and Jasmine loved it. There was so much more to do in the city, Diagon Alley was within walking distance. There were cool coffee cafes, book shops, parks, museums, even a bloody giant ferris wheel in the middle of it. Their moderately large family was a little cramped in their flat, but this year both Jasmine and the twins would be out of the house come September, leaving their parents alone and she was sure the place would feel too big then.
Tonight it was perfect. Her parents had taken the twins to see some show at the theatre and Jasmine had invited over Cassidy Bradshaw. If one followed the history of Hogwarts House politics they should be mortal enemies. Cassidy had been a Slytherin and Jasmine was the embodiment of every Gryffindor cliché. Loud, bossy, bold and proud. But they were both adults now, Jasmine having just turned seventeen in July. Now they were above such things as house points and homework and all of that rubbish. Not so much homework, NEWTs gave Jasmine lots and lots of anxiety but tonight was the perfect night to take the edge off of that, too.
The girls were seated on the floor of the living room, a bottle of her father's whiskey between them. The curly haired lioness sat with her long, lanky legs folded as she eyed the bottle with apprehension. She'd never had alcohol before, but now they were both adults. "Have you had this stuff before?" She asked her friend, reaching for the bottle to tip the amber colored liquid into a shotlgass. There was a tremble-y sense of excitement with a little touch of trepidation.
Jasmine handed the first glass off to the brunette and took the second one for herself. The Gryffindor examined it, wrinkling her nose up while wondering aloud "Are you s'posed to do it all at once or sip it?" Tonight she was going to do all the adulating. Alcohol and magic, two things her parents still wouldn't let her do at home but now that they were gone? Bottoms up.

Being an adult definitely wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Toward the end of school there back in May, Cassidy maybe got a little big headed about becoming a big, bad adult - that was when she was at the top of the food chain, though, as a seventh year. Now she was in the adult world, and to the eyes of actual adults, Cassidy was just a kid. A lost, confused kid. The girl had absolutely no idea what to do with herself. She had no real direction and sort of just expected something to...happen after graduation. Well, here she was, nearly four months out and she was still living with her mom, doing a whole lot of nothing.
Well...not exactly nothing. Cassidy was doing a whole lot of worrying. Not about herself - that would get worked out eventually, right? - but about her brother. Clayton was a werewolf, and that wasn't even the worst of it. As if being a werewolf wasn't hard enough on the days with a full moon, the Minister was making it even harder on the rest of the days, too. No magic, wolfsbane too expensive to buy, hardly any jobs...it was like they were trying to kill them. To kill him, her big brother whom she absolutely adored. And Cassidy had no idea what to do there, either. It wasn't like she wanted to sit around and do nothing. She just didn't know what to do.
Getting out of the house was a start, she thought. Her favorite Gryffindor was now officially an adult, too, so tonight they were going to do all of the adulting. The fun adulting, at least. Alcohol and unsupervised magic. The two girls - sorry, adults - were seated across from each other on the floor of Jasmine's new family home, a bottle of whiskey between them. Cassidy took the glass her friend offered to her, her nose already wrinkled up at the smell. She took a full whiff and made a face. "Not this. I've had vodka." Vodka heavy on the orange juice, very light on the vodka. Cassidy smiled up at Jasmine as she pondered how they were supposed to drink it. "This doesn't smell like anything I want to sip. Cheers?" She tapped her glass against Jasmine's and took the whole shot at once, making herself gag and laugh at the same time.

Jasmine was the picture perfect Gryffindor and fully embodied all the house stereotypes. She was loud, reckless and had a chronic case of 'big headed'. So unlike Cass, there was no pronounced growth of her cranium leading up to her coming of age. Maybe it was because she was caught in some sort of weird limbo. Technically an adult in the wizarding world but still a petulant, irresponsible teenager in her parents eyes. Still expected to attend and finish school. It was about time that she pushed away from one world and into the other, and alcohol was the perfect way to do it... So it seemed. Jas would regret the whole thing in the morning, surely, but for now the excitement left her feeling giddy and bubbly before a drop of alcohol passed her lips.
The smell of the alcohol sent her nose wrinkling up as much as it possibly could. Cass was right, it didn't smell like anything that you would want to sip. Maybe it was the fumes of the alcohol already working their buzzy magic but she couldn't help but notice how lovely Cassidy's face was, whether it was scrunched up in disgust or smiling fondly at her. Maybe it was the way her soft brown hair framed her face in curls. Cass had nice hair, her curls weren't a wild mane like Jas.. It looked nice, somehow perfect however the former Slytherin let it fall.
The Gryffindor was captivated by her own musings over how pretty her friend...just her friend.. was that she was staring, jarred out of the stupor by the clink of their glasses together. "Wicked! How d'you feel?" she encouraged as the other girl-dult choked through her amusement. Not to be outdone by a snake, Jas brought the glass to her lips and threw her head back. The alcohol burned on the way down and she coughed in the immediate aftermath but she was already reaching for the bottle. "You think firewhiskey tastes the same or different?" The Lioness tilted her head to the side in thought while tipping the bottle and pouring a drink for the both of them. "If I were you I would've tried this stuff months ago. What d'you do with all your time if it's not trying adult things or school?"

Cassidy was only halfway trying to ignore the fact that Jasmine was staring at her. Only halfway because she liked the attention, but if she paid all her own attention to it, she would get flustered. Things had happened last school year, or almost happened, or sort of happened...anyway, there were things, and Cassidy and Jasmine had never really talked about those things. In a way, they didn't need to talk about those things. Because for all of Jasmine's staring, there were Cassidy's furtive little glances. There was an obviousness between them. So in a way, they also totally needed to talk about those things.
Which was more of an adult thing, though? To talk or not to talk? Cassidy hadn't decided on that yet - and tonight was strictly for adult things. So waiting was the game, just like she thought waiting for Jasmine to graduate first would make a lot of things easier. Tonight she would try her best to wait and to get drunk with her friend. The drunk part wouldn't be hard at all - as soon as Cassidy took the shot, she felt it go straight to her head. "Fabulous," she choked out in response to Jasmine's question, in between laughs. She watched through teary eyes as her brave Gryffindor managed her own shot a lot better than herself. "You're a natural!"
"I can't possibly imagine the addition of 'fire' makes it any easier to get down," she pondered, eyeing warily the second shots Jasmine was now pouring. "Wizards be crazy." She'd learned about pacing oneself rather quickly with those fated vodka drinks in the Slytherin common room...but she couldn't look like a wimp in front of Jasmine. One more wouldn't hurt. Cassidy picked up her glass but held it and waited for Jasmine to go first this time. "Guess you'll have to wait and find out once you join the secret club of graduated adults," Cassidy teased, her grin only a little watery from the booze. "Some adult things are far more demanding than others. Money, for instance. And jobs...I'm still working on that one." Cassidy flopped back against the couch. "I've no idea what to do with my life, Jas. Tell me what to do."

Jasmine was a new adult and new adults hid from their problems, didn't they? So the fact that she didn't attempt to talk about the er--thing? The thing. She didn't try to talk about the 'thing' was completely acceptable behavior for a new adult. They would just ignore the problems frantic pleas to be acknowledged as it drowned in a very new and exciting adult thing... Alcohol. Jasmine never had sips or shots in the common room late at night. Most of the time she was too busy floundering through her school work or studying for an exam. Jasmine was a good student but it didn't come naturally, she had to study and study and study 'til her hair frizzed from her attempts to pull it out. Even when the school work was done and the lions gathered 'round the common room she was too afraid of getting caught and losing Quidditch as a consequence. Quidditch was her thing, it came so naturally to her that it became a part of her identity that she was terrified to lose.
And next year... There would be no Quidditch. That thought needed a shot to drown it out, so she poured one as they pondered on about Fire Whiskey. Jasmine wracked her brain for a counter to Cassidy's theory but she was right... Nope, fire didn't seem to make anything easier or better to get down. The Gryffindor had lifted the shot to her lips when Cassidy graced her with the brilliant line of 'Wizards be crazy'. She snorted with laughter, making her choke through the shot. Didn't matter, that little gem was worth it. "Bloody crazy!" Jas agreed after coughing the bit of whiskey down. Her head was swimming in an alcohol soaked bliss for a short time 'til they took a somber and sobering turn.
Jasmine scooted around to mimic Cassidy's flop back against the couch, letting her head loll against the couch. The lioness stared thoughtfully at the ceiling for a moment. Cassidy was going through something that Jasmine was afraid would happen to her, too. Tumbling through life after Hogwarts with no direction and no idea on how to manage it. It was really killing the buzz she was only just working up and Jasmine was going to have none of that. She turned her head to grin at Cassidy before offering her master adult plan. "Rob Gringotts. You'd have so many galleons they'd be coming out of your ears, no need for a job then. Just a hobby. I could teach you to play Quidditch."

Cassidy accidentally made Jasmine laugh just as she was downing her shot, making the girl choke, so Cassidy joined her in solidarity and went ahead and downed her next shot as well. The poor girls wouldn't suffer alone, at least. Laying back against the couch and staring at the ceiling, Cassidy felt light and floating, and it took her brain some moments to register the marked change in the environment. She had totally killed the mood. She hadn't meant to. Her issue, while heavy, wasn't yet tearing her apart or anything. Just something persistent, always on her mind. She rolled her head on the couch to smile at Jasmine. "Sorry. I didn't mean to harsh the vibe." Drunk Cassidy, apparently, really liked using outdated phrases.
Lucky for her, mood killer or not, Jasmine was always prepared to cheer her up. And with grand ideas, to boot. Cassidy snorted in laughter at her plan for riches. "Smart! I could probably just walk right in, short as I am. Fit right in with the goblins." It was the perfect plan. They'd be rich, and then...well then, Jasmine would teach her to play Quidditch and they'd live happily ever after. "Would you, really? Teach me to play?" Cassidy lifted her head back up because laying it backward like that made her a little dizzy. She pulled her knees up to her chest. "Not when we're rich, I mean now. Not like right now, of course, I'd fall off the broom. But...I think I'd like to learn. Only if you're teaching me." Drunk Cassidy was also apparently a rambler.

"Harsh the vibe?" Jasmine asked through a snigger and an amused grin after turning her head to face her friend, too. "Are you from like... the seventies or something? Found yourself a Time Turner?" That was something her dad would say when he was trying to be cool. Cringe. It was either the thought or the alcohol that made her head swim for just a moment, which harshed the vibe far more than Cass' serious talk did. Her parents were going to be livid when they discovered that she'd nicked some of their alcohol.
It was easy not to focus on that for too long, what with Cassidy expanding on her idea to rob Gringotts. She as good as had a plan. Jasmine shifted onto her side, propping her head up on her hand, elbow resting on the couch. "Right, yeah. 'Cept for your hair.." Jasmine did then something that was very stupid, given all her confusion. She reached her free hand out to touch the former Slytherin. Nothing intense, just to brush Cassidy's hair back behind her ear but it was enough to give her a pleasant and very confusing feeling in the pit of her stomach. "Goblins don't have such pretty hair." The tips of her fingers skimmed across the girl's cheek in the process and Cassidy's skin was soft and warm. It felt so right in the moment, but once the dark curls were tucked back Jasmine realized what she'd done and it felt very, very wrong. She pulled her hand back quickly.
As wrong as it felt, it wasn't enough to break their night up, Jasmine was reveling in their closeness as they plotted their post Gringotts break in. "Yeah of course." Of course she'd eat up any opportunity to spend more time with Cassidy, the idea made her heart skip a beat and break into a happy flutter. The other witch sat up and Jasmine mostly mirrored her with her own legs folded instead of pulled up, bony knees sticking out and her hands firmly in her lap. Stuff that felt wrong started to feel a little more right, because Cass only wanted to learn from her. "I wouldn't let you fall off your broom, you know. I'd miss you too much while you recovered in St. Mungo's."
Her own words hit her like a ton of bricks, knocking the air out of her lungs. "How can I go back to Hogwarts without you?" Jasmine had never known Hogwarts without Cassidy. She'd always been there. Summer holidays were bad enough but now she was going to have to go a whole year without her best friend, probably the worst year ever because of NEWTs and all. As much as she projected a self assured attitude there was a layer of insecurity hidden underneath it all and this whole thought process stripped away her ego and confidence. "I don't even want to go back. It's not going to be the same without you." And she didn't want Cass to move on, forget about her while she was figuring out all the adult stuff.

In fact, the last time the former Chelsea star did not take to the pitch with Milan was at Udinese-Milan on December 11 last year. Since then, Giroud has made 34 consecutive league and cup appearances.
Having netted four goals and created one assist in seven Serie A matches so far this campaign, Giroud has started to play with an arrogance and swagger in attack, reminiscent of French superstars David Trezeguet and Thierry Henry, who formerly entertained Italy's crowds at Juventus.
Without his goals, Stefano Pioli's side would have six fewer points in the top flight this season, having carved out a respectable but underwhelming tally of 14 points from seven matches to date.

The brutal incident was filmed in the city of Aktau, located on the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea, and shared to social media yesterday.
