The Parkinson family has always been on the edge of Dark causes, but never quite connected to it in a way that mattered to the law. One of the Pureblood families who did not devote themselves to inbreeding, they managed to remain sane - and very wealthy - for centuries. They are excellent politicians and gossips, and have adeptly avoided offending anyone of importance for most of their existence.
However, in recent generations, one of them did commit a faux pas. Albrecht Parkinson, while willing to fund Voldemort, was not willing to join his cause. And he told him so, to his face, when they were still in school. Voldemort did not take kindly to this and cursed his lineage, resulting in Cromwell and Padrach being the last males to carry on the Parkinson name. Thus, the family will be extinct in the male line and in name soon enough, as the last Parkinsons are Pansy and her cousin Amelia.
