St. Mungos Application
St. Mungos : Medi-Wizard
Tristan Flynn McAlister
23 - Male - October 31 - Halfblood
Appearance
Eyes: Startlingly blue often crinkled at the sides
Hair: Short and styled blonde, often hiden underneath a baseball cap that's backwards as often as it is forward
Ethnicity: Irish and Scandinavian
Body: Tristan stands at a towering six foot three with a lean, muscled frame
General Appearance:
Tristan volleys between embracing his height and hating it, leaving him to alternate between slouching and towering over people. He's got a unique sense of style and wears his ears gauged. His hair is often slicked back with gel and he's a fan of hoodies and hats. When at rest, he often sticks his hands in his pockets and can be found lounging lazily against walls and counters.
Personality
Positives: Fashionable, goofy humored, flirty, focused, blunt, a special talent for healing, easy bedside manner, quirky, affectionate, sensitive, detail oriented
Negatives:Bad at potions, needy, abandonment issues, strangely a fan of plaid, disorganized, vain, particular, needs his beauty sleep, definitely not a morning person, can be moody, has a tendency towards anger issues, dabbled in the dark arts when he was younger, manipulative
Pet Peeves: excessive loudness, morning people, finger tapping (though he's guilty of this) loud chewers (dear merlin make it stop), people with no sense of humor, people who pass judgement on others
Sexual Orientation: Gayer than the Village People doing an Elton John tribute concert
Hobbies & Interests: Healing, fashion, singing (he has a beautiful baritone), his hairless cat, gardening
Additional Magical Abilities: None
Overall Personality:
Due to his upbringing, Tristan can be very needy. The poor boy just wants to be liked. He gives affection easily and needs oodles of it in return. Often, he needs reassurance that everything in his relationships, whether it be romantic or platonic, is alright and that the other person isn't growing tired of him. He's terrified of being abandon and will often go out of his way to make his friends and partners feel appreciated and wanted. Tristan likes to be the center of attention and is often laughing loudly, telling jokes or flirting his way into people's good graces. When it suits him, he will use his height, good looks, flattery and flirting to his advantage. While he's generally easy going when he's pushed to the point of anger he's got a mean spirited and nasty temper. This isn't something he likes to embrace, it's part of his personality that he's very ashamed of and grapples internally with.
Current Politics
How was your character affected by the reign of Lord Voldemort?
His parents were high ranking Death Eaters during Voldemort's reign who mysteriously disappeared and were never heard from or seen from again. Poor Tristan was an orphan from the wrong side of the war and spent a good deal of his childhood in Trout's Children's Home
Where does your character stand with the Omega vs Proteger?
He doesn't want a par of their feud and refuses to choose a side. War took enough from him and he won't get caught up in bickering factions because of it.
What are your character's thoughts on the present Centaur revolt at Hogwarts?
Given the recent events where centaurs attacked children, he has lost all sympathy for the beasts and thinks that the problem needs to be handled quickly and with an iron fist. No more trying to appease the centaurs. It's too dangerous to let them continue on thinking they own the land the ancient wizarding institution stands on.
Family
Parents: Astrid and Declan McAlister
Siblings: None that he knows of
Partner: None
Children: All the children of Trout's Children's Home
Other Notable Family: None
Family History:
Astrid was a pretty witch from a good wizarding background and a rich family. There were squibs and muggles in her lineage but one didn't talk about such things in good company. She was brought up to think that she was better than everyone else and she embraced this mindset. She was more beautiful, more talented, better capable than others. Her peers were lucky they were allowed to breathe the same air as her. She had almost everything... but Astrid lacked purpose. She felt that as special as she was, she was destined for something great but nothing great presented itself until news of Voldemort's rise to power reached her homeland.
The murmurs were exciting. Someone wanted to purify the wizarding bloodlines, put muggles in their rightful place. This was what she'd been waiting for, what she needed. Astrid left for the UK immediately. There she met an Irish wizard name Declan. He was everything she was looking for. Handsome, well mannered, charismatic.. He had quite a cruel streak towards those he deemed lesser but that didn't concern Astrid. The suffering of peasants did not register on the Ice Queen's radar. The two quickly married and had a child together named Tristan. They were doting parents and motherhood began to melt the ice queen's heart. She went from proper and aloof to caring. The crimes of herself and her husband began to weigh very heavily on her recently warmed heart. The couple began to have second thoughts. They trusted the wrong friend with mention of these hesitations and before little Tristan knew it, his parents were gone. Rumored to be killed by Voldemort and his supporters.
Character
Character History:
Tristan was born on an unusually cold Halloween night to parents who were caught up on the wrong side of the war. He was lavished with love and affection and everything that a young baby could have wanted. Sadly, a guilty conscience stole his parents from him at a very young age and he found himself at the wizarding orphanage. Trout's Children's Home.
There, he had a very rocky childhood. Other children made fun of him because of his lineage. Many orphans of war ended up there and most of them were able to remember their parents fondly, but other children and adults alike saw to it that Tristan would not hold his parents in the same high regard. They were Death Eaters, they didn't deserve to be missed. His parents may have killed many of the other children's family. The children called him names and wouldn't play with him, even going as far as to physically bully him. Some adults turned a blind eye to this due to their own prejudice.
In an effort to make friends, Tristan began to refine his sense of humor. He started making people laugh before they could insult him. He sang to them, too. How could someone so rotten posses such an angelic voice? It worked, in a way. It allowed some children to see past his parents to the scared and lonely little boy beneath the death eater drama.
When he attended school, he was sorted into Slytherin. This came as a hard blow and he spent much of his first year fighting against it, withdrawing into his shell. Students of other houses bullied him something awful and he began to learn healing magic to take care of the bumps and bruises he got from being pushed down, having things thrown at him, etc. When puberty hit he went from awkward lanky boy to teenage heart throb. He did well enough in school, nothing spectacular.
Once he graduated Hogwarts, Tristan found work as a Medi-Wizard in training. After about a year, he moved up to a full fledged Medi-Wizard and has worked there ever since.
First Instance of Magic:
Poor little unassuming Tristan was in the center of a circle of children when he was five years old. They were taunting him, as children do, calling him a death eater and his parents didn't want him (none of their parents wanted them, they were in an orphanage for Merlin sake). Instead of crying, Tristan just got angry. His little fists balled up, his feet stomped and when he couldn't take anymore he yelled... and shattered all the windows in the home, promptly shutting the children up.
What would your character see in the Mirror of Erised?
The wizarding world at peace. None of this centaur feud, no fighting factions, no death eaters. OR he would see himself with someone who showered him with love and made him feel wanted and accepted.
What are your character's future aspirations?
To find out what happened to his parents, continue on being a bad ass Medi-Wizard and piece people back together.
