GENERAL PERSONALITY:
Catherine is a strong minded and confident woman. She likes to be in charge and have things under control. Her intentions are good, everything she's done in her life had been for her sisters or her daughter. Catherine is certain of her way of thinking and judging. Often she doesn't want to hear what others have to say. This is her biggest weakness as people don't really appreciate being ignored. She is a proud woman who enjoys her luxury life but she would never downgrade those of less fortunate. Actually she'd give up every knuts she owns to just have a peaceful life with her daughter, niece in law and husband. But such a life was not meant for her. Catherine loves spending time with her friends and chatter about children. However there are some subjects she likes to avoid.
Despite that she married a Death Eater whose entire family had allied with the Dark Lord, Catherine never wanted to have a word about it. She strongly disagreed with the methods they used and was certain the war was in vain. She almost pretended like the Averies weren't Death Eaters and that she was leading a perfectly normal life. But she would often fight with her husband about this matter and how it affected them as a family.
Her relationship with her niece in law is a bit of a strange one. The two women secretly care deeply for each other but they bump heads a lot. They seem to disagree about almost everything. Catherine very much sees Ashley as a child.
She is also unsure about Graham ever since he got bitten. Catherine always feared and hated werewolves and now her own husband was one. She was afraid he'd change as a person and that his condition would affect their family. Often she is hesitant to touch him as if she fears being contaminated although she knows that's impossible without the full moon. She has a lot of mixed and unresolved feelings about him at this point. Often she thinks it's easy to put all blame on him and his side of the family.

Character History:
Catherine is the eldest daughter of three. All girls were born with blonde hair. They were always close. Catherine was the eldest and thus protected her little sisters whenever she could. She had a pretty normal childhood. Her Hogwarts years were a little rougher as while the Fawley family avoided the war at all costs, here she was suddenly exposed to the different groups. Still she tried to focus herself on her studies and friends. She wouldn't let it affect her. Catherine chose her friends carefully so that she could have a fun time at Hogwarts without much drama.
When she was seventeen and about to enter her seventh year, she could hear her parents whisper of needing security. Their family money was running out and seeing that the Dark Lord was winning, they wanted to be secured of a place in the new world. Dying was no option. Mr. and Mrs. Fawley found contact with the Avery family. They were willing to offer their youngest son as groom for their daughter. Catherine didn't want to marry a complete stranger but knew that if she didn't do this her little sisters had to. Seeing that Charles had only daughters and this line was to end, they needed to use the pureblood name while they still could. She was introduced to Graham. To her relief he wasn't ugly, quite handsome really. But he seemed a bit distant and nothing like the prince on the white horse every girl dreamed of marrying. He was down to earth and to the point. There was no romance between them it was purely alliance.
Catherine had always mixed feelings about the Averies. While Graham was kind to her and listened, she knew the entire family did horrible things. This didn't sit her well but at this point she was in no position to speak up. Mr. and Mrs. Avery were intimidating as was Graham's elder brother. It was best to pretend she didn't know what was going on even if she did. Once she was married, Catherine quickly took over the lead in the relationship. Most decisions were made by her as Graham was busy with his job and Death Eater missions. Luckily for her the Avery family had a house elf whom she could borrow to prepare the house they'd live in. Eventually a friendship was formed between her and her husband. But she wasn't very found of the secrets he kept from her. She feared that if the Averies would mess up, the Fawley family would go down as well. She could get along with Alastair's wife who had her first child. From the moment that she laid eyes upon the baby, she knew she wanted to be a mother herself. But not in times of war, it had to wait. There was no way that she would raise a child in a mess like this.
In 1981 the war was abruptly over. Against all odds the dark lord seemed to have lost. While the Avery family was in panic, Catherine got her wish. She and Graham finally got to work on their relationship and future. That same year Graham lost his parents to vengeful werewolves. She and her husband bounded over this. It was the first time that she got to meet Graham as a person, not as a mask set by his parents. He cried on her lap and she comforted him. But both of them gained a fear of werewolves at this point. They were unpredictable and dangerous.
Seeing they shared the child wish they didn't hesitate to try. However luck wasn't with them. No matter how many times they tried, Catherine couldn't seem to get pregnant. Alastair and Juliana already got their third child at this point, provoking jealousy in Catherine.
In 1986 she was reminded of the after effects of war. Juliana and her second son died during a battle between aurors and the death eaters they were after. Juliana had been visiting that house while the fire broke lose. Catherine was scared that the same faith was instore for her. Alastair turned away from the family, taking his eldest son with him. Catherine and Graham often looked after Ashley, the youngest child. She found joy in taking care of the little girl.
A year later Catherine was happy to tell her husband that she was finally pregnant. She was sparkling and couldn't wait to have a family of her own. They got their dreams crushed. Only two months later she had a miscarriage. This broke her heart. She found support with her husband and sisters but it would always stick with her.
Happy times were ahead. Ashley was about to go to her first year of Hogwarts and Catherine took the girl shopping for school items and uniforms. That same year they were blessed with a succesful pregnancy which lead to the birth of a beautiful baby girl Kallisto whom she'd named after her mother. Being busy being a mom now, she placed her attention from Ashley to Kallisto. But she never neglected the other girl. Ashley did was a troublesome teenager in her eyes. The child dared to put up a big mouth towards her. Graham often let it happen which pissed her off.
Life was still good, Catherine was happy with how things were going. But then the Dark Lord returned and she knew her happiness wouldn't last long. She begged Graham not to join sides again. They fought a lot, she didn't understand that he had no choice and would forever be angry with him for this matter. She didn't want any meetings at her house at least Graham lived up to this tiny wish.
Graham was gone a lot. She didn't like the people he went on missions with. They were shabby, dark and untrustworthy people. It was only a matter of time before things went wrong.
And things went horribly wrong. She was aware that Graham was acting strange out of lately and messing around. He'd go through sleepless nights and talked to himself. Catherine was scared her husband would end up crazy just like his brother. One night at the full moon, Catherine was playing downstairs with her daughter and preparing her for bed when the windows shattered and a fearsome beast was in their living room. It was a werewolf. Catherine screamed and tried to shield her daughter as he tried to flee. Graham came downstairs and bought them time to get away. They were told to wait at St. Mungo's but Graham was taking his time. Catherine already had a bad feeling in het gut. When she saw Mimi it was confirmed. The little elf had brought her husband but she barely recognized him anymore. He was completely covered in blood and his skin was cut and torn everywhere.
He was unconscious for a couple of weeks and they were unsure if he would even make it. Catherine had enough time to fill her mind with fears of what was ahead. She didn't want to accept reality. Sometimes the scary thought 'perhaps it would be better if he never wakes up' showed up in her head. She'd always feel guilty for this thought but it never left her. When Graham did wake up Catherine was overcome with emotion. She yelled at him and said things she regrets to this day (but she doesn't want to admit it). She basically told him he ruined everything and he should stay away before Kallie died because of him and his stupid family.
This was the last time she'd seen him. Catherine was unaware of what really happened and believed he had taken her words to heart. After Ashley's father died and her brother was taken to Azkaban. The Avery mansion was habituated by three women. Catherine, Ashley and Kallie. She didn't want to return to the house where the werewolf had attacked and found her place among the mansion. She never told Ashley what happened, she was ashamed to admit.
Graham had attempted to contact her several times. She was shocked to see in what state he was and she sent him away. Kallie shouldn't see her father like that. They would always shield their child from the cruelty in this world. In 2002 Ashley was on the doorstep with Graham. She found him and confronted Catherine about this. It wasn't according to her plan and Catherine knew she had to adjust. Seeing that Graham had started cleaning up the mess he was she gave him a chance in the hope that he'd work on himself and become the man he once was. The man she'd eventually come to love and wanted him to father her children. Even if Catherine was unsure if she still loved him or gave him this chance only for the sake of her daughter, it happened. There were a few conditions before she'd let him fully back in: break all contacts with Death Eaters, master the wolfsbane potion, get a new job and restore his overall reputation.
In the mean time she'd continue to raise Kallie as well as she could.
