Draco had just barely been heading off shift, hoping to escape the mistrustful glances of some of his coworkers, when the call came in from Godric's Hollow. Grabbed by the elbow at the door, Draco immediately started grabbing all the supplies they would need. Werewolf attacks had to be treated quickly, if someone had a bite or a scratch, and he hoped to Merlin that they had enough supplies on hand. The pharmacist had been roused from his beauty sleep and called in to start brewing immediately, Healers had been called back and Medi-wizards were on scene, and Draco had settled in at the first line of defense, ready to accept the first patients as they were hurried in. His dress shirt was going to get stained, he thought (slightly sadly) as the first patients were either carried in or limped in themselves. His robes were shoved in a locker and he hadn't time to get to them... and there was no way he was rolling up his sleeves. But he supposed, Draco mused as he stepped forward to receive the first patient, that there were worse things to sacrifice. " I'm a Healer," he called, waving patients over. " I can help. What happened?" His usually closed face was... well, closed, but the eyes were sympathetic over the tired circles and focused entirely on the patients, ready and willing to help. _____ Open to those who would be at St. Mungo's after the attack here. As per canon, werewolf bites and scratches will scar permanently, and also must be treated with silver and dittany to heal. The process is extensive and painful. Please specify what is being treated - not everyone should have werewolf-specific wounds! Anyone wishing to contract lycanthropy rather than just be scarred must clear it with administration first!!

The attack had been disgusting. She was so used to being apart of the aftermath but Lydia had never had to witness first hand what caused the injuries she fixed. Her hands were shaking from the adrenaline of the attack. She helped her sister into St. Mungos and found the first healer she could. "Malfoy! Help us, she was scratched." She called, pulling Madison onto a bed. She was covered in blood and her left shoulder was torn to shreds. She was crying in pain and agony.
Lydia wiped the sweat off her own forehead and saw blood trail along her arm. She must have injured her head without realizing. She didn't even feel the pain. "Everything happened so fast. There's going to be more coming in soon." She said, glancing over her shoulder at the door. She looked back at Malfoy, her face pleaded. She'd never let her guard down at work before but this was different. This was her sister. "Malfoy, please tell me you can help her..." She begged, her voice shaking slightly. She couldn't have her poor sister turning into one of those monsters.

Post by Ashley Avery on Aug 13, 2016 5:44:19 GMT
This was the second time in as many months Ashley had been pulled off her floor to help with a catastrophic emergency. Any plant and potion related injuries that weren’t going to kill someone this very minute were being put on hold in favor of the victims currently flooding in. Normally that might have irritated Ashley just the tiniest bit. She loved her specialty. But the second she heard the word werewolf, none of that mattered anymore. Werewolf attacks were something far too personal since Uncle Graham had been turned. Ashley had already been on edge wondering if he would be okay tonight, especially after the number he had done on himself the last full moon. But now there were other people who were about to become just like him. Assuming, of course, they survived. And that thought managed to break the heart most people didn’t even know Ashley Avery possessed. While most people flooded downstairs into the chaos, Ashley ran for a supply closet. She grabbed up a sterilized pillowcase and began stuffing as many vials of powdered silver and dittany as she could fit in it. Hopefully it would be enough. Just in case, she grabbed a healer-in-training and told them to get to an apothecary. If they had to break a window to get the owner awake, then so be it. But they were not to show their face here without more silver and dittany or Ashley would personally skin them alive. She took the stairs two at a time as she ran down toward the ground floor. Merlin, the place was a mess. There were already victims flooding in, their injuries ranging from minor bruises to destroyed organs that even magic probably couldn’t fix in time. Healers were running through the room yelling at one another. Victims were screaming and crying. It was a little overwhelming, to be honest. But part of being ambitious was the ability to focus. Ashley swallowed hard, and suddenly the whole room seemed to shift into crystal clarity. She caught sight of Draco Malfoy to one side of the room with Lydia. Merlin’s pants, was that Lydia’s sister? Ashley quickly forced down the pang of empathy. She didn’t have time to be emotional. Work to do. “Malfoy!” she yelled, her voice rising above the noise. When the blonde healer turned her way, she pulled a vial of out of the pillowcase and tossed it through the air toward him. He’d been quite a talented seeker back in the day. There was no doubt in Ashley’s mind he would catch the precious vial. With that done, Ashley grabbed another harried healer-in-training and shoved the pillowcase of vials into their hands. “Hand those out to the other healers. Worst injuries first. Go!” She gave the poor girl a shove to get her moving. Ashley might be a specialist, but she still knew a thing or two about werewolf bites and scratches. She would be of far more use trying to heal wounds than passing out supplies. And at times like this, proper allocation of resources could mean the difference between life and death. Ashley herself had kept one of the vials, and she waded through the human sea toward the nearest patient not being tended to. “Where are you hurt?”

The first patient was someone he recognized, or rather the relation of someone he recognized. @lydia , coworker and occasional thorn in his side, was by him instantly, laying a school-aged girl on a bed with a mess for a shoulder. Draco replied to the call for help with a nod, quick hands checking out the wound carefully, gently, moving aside torn clothing to get at the actual mark. It was a rather large scratch - but thankfully not a bite - and he felt his eyes widen just a little bit before his expression solidified into determination.
He didn't need to ask Lydia what happened- she was already explaining. "I'll do everything I can," he told her, half-turning and frowning at her appearance. "Sit," he added, pointing to a chair next to the bed. "You're no use if you fall over." He wasn't going to argue, merely tapping his own forehead and turning back to his patient. He flicked a clean cloth Lydia's way for her to clean herself up with to punctuate his point. He might be a bit abrasive in his attitude, but he would prefer it if she didn't pass out on him.
His attention was briefly caught by Ashley, tossing him a vial of the necessary dittany and silver, and he nabbed it out of midair, throwing Ashley a grateful glance before turning back to Lydia and her sister. "This is going to sting" he told the girl in his best soothing voice, putting the vial down and grabbing disinfectant and a cloth as the first step. "But you're going to be alright." His hands made quick work of the disinfectant, cleaning away the blood and grime, and then he shook the vial of silver and dittany. The wound had to be sealed with the silver/dittany mix in it, and hopefully that would stop the infection. Glancing up at Lydia, he told her, "You might want to hold her hand for this part," already refocused on the wound.

Lydia took a step back as he took over and tried to keep her hands steady. She was going to have to do what she could to help and needed to calm herself down first. It was a difficult task, however, as she stared at her scared and crying sister. She listened to Draco Malfoy 's instructions without arguement, something that was fairly unusual for her, and sat in the chair nearest to the bed. She accepted the cloth and began wiping the blood off her forehead, hoping it wouldn't need stitches or anything. She glanced up as someone called Malfoy's name and caught sight of Ashley Avery tossing a vial at him. It must have been the dittany and silver, the medical side of her brain reasoned. She didn't spare her another glance as she turned her attention back to her sister. She wouldn't leave her side until she knew Madi was ok. Lydia jumped forward and grabbed Madison's hand. "It's alright, sweet heart. It's going to be ok..." She assured her, although she didn't believe it herself. She looked to Draco, begging him with her eyes to do whatever he could but he was focused on the wound. "She's tough. She can handle it." She said, forcing a smile at her sister. Madison whimpered and squeezed Lydia's hand tight. She pursed her lips, preparing for the pain.

Madison didn’t really know how they ended up at the hospital. She really didn’t care either. Her shoulder hurt too bloody much to focus. It was taking far too much of her energy just to stay conscious. It felt like someone had exposed all the nerve endings in her shoulder, doused them in lemon juice and then set them on fire. Pain was something Madison could handle. But this… This went way beyond any injury she had ever sustained. She wasn’t a crier, but she was crying now. And completely unashamed of it. She was pretty sure the searing fire in her shoulder was enough to make a grown man cry. Her vision was going in an out as one of Lydia’s colleagues looked her over. Everything was moving too fast for Madison to focus. But she could hear @lydia’s force somewhere close by. That was literally the only thing keeping her from being totally hysterical. As it was, she still crying and breathing too fast. But she was too busy battling the pain to worry about the rest. “Lyddie?” she choked, the overwhelming nature of the situation causing her to revert back to the childhood nickname. She needed Lydia. She reached out the hand of her uninjured arm as she searched for her sister. And then Lydia was back in Madison’s field of vision, her hand finding Madi’s as she tried to soothe and reassure. Madison’s hand tightened around her sister’s to the point it was a wonder she wasn’t breaking bones. it only took one look at Lydia’s face to know she was scared. And just know her big, brave, healer older sister was scared terrified Madison more than anything else that had happened so far. But she forced herself to nod as Lydia managed a completely unconvincing smile. Madi choked back a sob as she turned her gaze to Draco Malfoy. “Do it.” The words were choked out in a hoarse and watery voice. But it was the best Madison could manage at the moment. She almost regretted that when he touched the stuff to her shoulder. Sting had been an understatement. Madison whimpered, clenching her teeth against the pain as her hand tightened further around Lydia’s. Please Merlin, somebody just make it stop! Madison hadn’t even known something could hurt this much. And then, mercifully, it was over. Well, the extra sting was over. The rest of it was still very much there. And Madison was trying to be brave, damn it, but her shoulder bloody hurt! She just wanted it to stop.

Working, working. Draco's mind held nothing but the task in front of him as he carefully cleaned and assessed the wound. It would scar, of course - all werewolf wounds did. But the scratch looked promising, as long as he could keep it from succumbing to infection. Lydia, after taking care of herself, jumped up and grabbed her sister's hand, and Draco looked between the two sisters once for confirmation before he poured the mixture into the wound and passed his wand over in a careful, smooth movement.
The girl jerked and hissed, but Draco continued to pour, carefully alternating between holding the edges of the wound (and sighing inwardly as his shirt cuff gathered blood at its edge) and the wand motions required to help seal the wound together. When he was reasonably certain that wound was immersed in the dittany/silver mix, Draco tucked his wand in his pocket and reached for another vial. "What does the pain feel like?" he asked calmly, dabbing at the edges with a fresh cloth. "The sensation. Burning? Prickling?"

The healer was talking again. Madison didn’t know if he was trying to distract her or if the information would actually help somehow. She set her teeth against another surge of pain. Her brow furrowed as she tried to focus enough to get the words out. “Burning. I think. Ow!” She sucked in a sharp breath through her clenched teeth. It was really hard to tell at this point. She just knew it hurt. Although it was definitely getting a little more bearable now that the wound was closed. Fewer exposed nerves. It still hurt like the dickens, but she wasn’t quite drowning in it anymore.
As the sharp edges of the pain began to very slowly recede to an almost manageable point, Madison finally found the voice to shakily ask, “I’ll be okay, right?” Really she was asking if she had been infected. She thought she had only been scratched, but she wasn’t totally sure. She had definitely blacked out for a few seconds. What if that thing had gotten its teeth into her? She didn’t want to become a beast like that. She was trying really hard to be brave here, but she wasn't sure she could handle that kind of news. She was fifteen, for Merlin's sake! Far too young to have her life ruined like that.

Lydia watched as her sister cried in pain and felt tears fall down her own cheeks. She was trying to be strong for Madison, to show her that she would be fine by keeping it together but it was tough. She'd never seen her baby sister in so much and although she was used to blood and patients with terrible injuries, it made her sick to see it on a loved one. She watched everything Draco did regardless, refusing to look away so she could be sure he was doing things right. She trusted him though, knowing he was a brilliant healer. She would never admitt it to him but if there was anyone she trusted to help her sister, it would be him.
"You'll be fine." She assured Madison as she asked, worry in her voice. She had not been bitten. Things could be much worse. She would heal from this and they could put it behind her like a terrible memory. She reached up and brushed the dirty hair out of Madi's face. "Don't worry. We'll make sure of it, you'll be fine. Malfoy knows what he's doing." She promised, her cheeks turning pink at the admission. Ok, maybe he deserved a little recognition. She turned to look back at the injury, scowling at the scar it would leave behind. Madison would never be able to wear a cami without the ugly reminder of what she'd been through. She swore she would do what she could to not allow Madi to be ashamed of her scar.

Draco, dabbing at the wound and watching the dittany/silver mix set in, hummed thoughtfully. "Good, that's good," he said a bit absently, carefully sealing the wand and mixing the potion ingredients in. "That's normal." He glanced up, first at Lydia, then at her sister, not saying anything as his co-worker wept with her sibling. He (for once) had no comment to make - if his remaining family had been attacked by werewolves, he was pretty sure he'd be hard pressed to remain calm.
At the girl's question, Draco nodded. "It's just a scratch," he soothed, his voice calm and steady as he finished tidying up the wound. "And your sister got you hear very quickly. You're going to be okay." He flicked a glance at Lydia in surprise, raising an eyebrow at her with brief amusement but choosing, magnanimously, to say nothing. He Summoned a bandage instead and started to dress the wound, hands gentle on the sore spot. Almost done, and then he'd have to move on, but it wouldn't hurt to make sure that everything was as neat as it could be.
