WAND COREUnicorn Tail Hair | A core of loyalty and consistency. It's difficult to turn a unicorn tail hair to the dark arts and the wand is will grow dejected and forlorn if misused. When unhappy this core is known to 'die' and will need to be replaced. | Dragon Heart String | A powerful and flamboyant core that bonds strongly to it's master. It can only be turned if won fairly in a duel. It's known to be volatile and prone to backfiring. This core is most often found at the wands of dark witches and wizards though not inherently dark by nature. | Phoenix Tail Feather | A rare core that is very selective when choosing it's wizard. Like it's ideal owner the phoenix tail feather is independent and has been known to act on it's own accord. It's stubborn and it's allegiance is hard won. | Veela Hair | Like the creature itself these wand cores are temperamental and highly volatile. They prefer light and frivolous spells, but are capable of producing powerful curses and nasty hexes when properly provoked. | Fairy Wing | A delicate core that produces brightly colored and showy spells. The core is stubborn and haughty and won't perform magic that it believes to be beneath it's stature. | Bowtruckle Finger | A rare core, the fingers themselves posses no special magical ability but rather amplify the properties of the wand's wood | Demiguise Hair | An exotic core well suited to those who are attempting to mask their true nature. It produces consistent magic with little fluctuation and low risk for blockages. | Banshee Hair | A core that is dark in nature, Banshee hair wands are incapable of healing magic. They are loud and resistant to non verbal magic and are not well suited for those who desire stealth. This core performs erratically and often backfires. | Diricawl Feather | The master of a wand with this core will be at ease casting concealment charms but find that their wand is unsuitable for dueling. | Billywig Stinger | A mischievous core perfect for a fun loving prankster. Don't let it's lighthearted nature fool you, as this core is capable of producing powerful charms. | Pixie Heart
| This rare core may easily be swayed to the Dark Arts and favors the more conniving, sociable witches and wizards. | Fwooper Feather | A noisy core prone to producing very loud spells, wands with these feathers may find it difficult to cast silencing spells. It is rumored that this core is drawn to those with mental defects. | Doxy Wing | Almost always dark in nature, favors a wizard of cruel spirit. Difficult to subjugate, weak with transfiguration and charms but casts powerful curses, particularly unforgivables | Troll Whisker
| Not a core of unusual power, it will get the job done though the wand's response time is quite lethargic.
| Jobberknoll Feather | A gentle core that's easy to tame, wizards value it for it's faithfulness, consistency and excellent charm work. These cores are often found in the wands of Hufflepuffs, former or current, as it seems to seek out a witch or wizard who is equally loyal and transparent in nature.
| Kappa Scales | Wands of this core feel distinctly sinister but are relatively harmless on their own. While excellent for water based spells the core will often fail at producing fire based magic, spouting smoke instead of flame. Wizards who find this core in their wand are often cunning with a strong sense of self preservation.
| Powdered Erumpet Horn | This core has an affinity for witches and wizards that remind it of the animal it comes from. They are impulsive, stubborn, with explosive tempers. They lack foresight and often run headlong in to bad situations. This core is excellent for dueling but is prone to spontaneously combust when mistreated | Thestral Hair | A stubborn core with a finicky allegiance. It has been known to align itself with whoever it feels is superior in strength and feels no fondness or loyalty towards it's owner. |

Flexibility
Wands come in various degrees of rigidity and flexiblity. Some wand makers believe that the degree of a wand's firmness reflects in the personality of the chosen witch or wizard. A wizard that is easy going and adaptable is much more likely to have a flexible wand while those who are obstinate and set in their ways often find themselves with very firm wands that have little give and refuse to bend. They are very steadfast and persistent in their beliefs and values. There is thought to be a correlation to these wands and the magic they preform. Swishy, springy wands are well suited for charm work and other branches of magic that benefit from a 'personal' touch, like divination. Less flexible wands are excellent for more precise magic, like transfiguration and potioneering. Available Flexiblities Include
Suprisingly Swishy |
| Unyielding | Swishy |
| Rigid | Slightly Springy |
| Solid | Very Flexible |
| Hard | Flexible |
| Slightly Yielding | Reasonably Supple |
|
| Pliant |
