Lucien smiled at the King when he said that he wouldn't have problems with the students when the term started. "No need to thank me. I'm only doing my job as your daughter's soon-to-be school Healer. As for having no problems, I hope so too, Professor. As a Healer, we pride ourselves with the ability to be patient even with the most... moody patients." he told the man with a light and warm tone, knowing that the man only wanted nothing but the best for his child. And Lucien had vowed to be nothing but the best for his patients. Once he had finished explaining, Lucien gave the man room to sit by his daughter's side and nudge her to eat just a bit more for her health and for the man's peace of mind no doubt. Looking at them, part of Lucien missed his own father and wished within his mind that said man was still alive today. When Corey King said that if he needed anything to make his transition to Hogwarts easier, all Lucien had to do was ask. He smiled at both of them and shook his head. "No need, Professor. I appreciate the offer though. And i you insist, which I know you will, having someone to speak to before, during, and after the Opening Feast would be enough. And maybe a cup of tea before bed would be an added bonus. It would help to have a familiar and friendly face on my first day." Lucien said, his smile warm and yet embarrassed a bit for asking company. He was never nervous but then again, there was always a first for everything.

Minerva still felt cold on the inside, an unpleasant coat of ice covering her lungs and heart. But she was made of sterner stuff, and so she showed no sign of discomfort as she chivvied people into Gringotts and bullied them into eating chocolate. Some of the students were downright distraught, others were the too-quiet that made her wrap them in blankets and murmur something to get them to make an expression - any expression. She didn't want to think of those who hadn't escaped the Dementors, those who had lost their souls and were now placidly seated in a separate room, gazing at nothing, comprehending nothing. Seamus Finnegan and Pomona Sprout were among them, and Minerva would go and see them and mourn later, for her friend and former student, for lives which had been abruptly sucked away. But now she had a job to do.
It didn't matter she wasn't a Healer - Dementor attacks didn't necessarily need healing, just someone with their wits about them and a basketful of chocolate. She had both in abundance. Minerva bustled around, grip tight on her basket, and handed out chocolate, pausing to murmur and soothe and cajole. She'd spoken to at least 5 people by the time she came to her new caretaker, @raven, who was weeping desperately into her knees. Her brow furrowed, and with a soft gaze she hurried over and put a hand on the younger woman's shoulder. "Poppycock," she said firmly, hand firm, keeping her from doing something silly like fleeing. "There's nothing wrong with needing help. But I can't have my caretaker weeping for eternity - think of the floors!" Minerva gave a soft smile at the joke and reached into her basket with her free hand, taking out a mug of hot chocolate which she warmed Wandlessly before handing it over. "Drink." she said firmly. "That's the first step." Her tone brooked no argument.

Of course the headmistress didn’t buy Raven’s wobbly insistence. The woman wasn’t stupid. But neither was she disapproving as she looked down at Raven. In spite of the brusque tone, the woman’s eyes were quite kind. And then she actually made a joke. Raven let out a watery chuckle as she wiped her eyes again. It sounded so much like something Jake would have said. That familiarity was enough to draw a weak reply out of her. “At least they’ll be clean.” The firm hand on her shoulder was oddly comforting, an anchor in the storm. Headmistress McGonagall handed her a mug of hot chocolate, and Raven took it with a grateful nod. “Thank you.” The words were barely above a whisper but no less grateful.
She took a long drink, letting the warm liquid thaw her insides. She hadn’t even realized how cold she was until right now. The headmistress was still beside her, and while Raven couldn’t totally understand why (possibly because she seemed to be the most visibly distraught person in the bank), she was deeply grateful for the brief stint of company. Raven had never been good at asking for help. Mostly because she’d never needed to. She and Jake had been remarkably in tune, always aware of exactly what the other needed. But now he was gone. Raven tightened her hands around the warm mug in an effort to still their trembling. “I’m not used to being the one that needs saving,” she admitted, referring to the headmistress’ comment about needing help. Her voice was strained and her eyes directed at her mug. She had explained her past briefly during her interview, so hopefully that statement would make sense. She should’ve been out there today trying to protect people, not sobbing on a bench like a child. She sighed heavily into her mug. “There’s a Muggle saying that you don’t stop being a soldier just because you get hurt in battle. But what good is a soldier who can’t even protect themselves?” The question was genuine, but the words inadvertently triggered memories of a dark face taunting her with a similar question as Jake screamed in pain. Raven stiffened, shutting her eyes tightly and taking a long breath to halt the waterworks threatening to restart. It had been three years, for Merlin’s sake. People kept saying it would get better, but she was honestly starting to wonder. What if she was just broken beyond repair?

@iamsophie was humble, a trait Corey himself never quite managed to get a hang of, but one he definitely appreciated in other people. He thought it was good for people to be proud of themselves and their work and accomplishments, but even he knew that bragging could get to be a bit much at times. At the mention of moody patients, Corey chuckled and shot a look at his daughter, who was not very happy to be looked at in such a way and stuck her tongue out at her father. "Moody, that's a polite way to put it," he teased. He looked back at Lucien and winked. He was starting to feel better already, because he knew Rosemary was in good hands.
When they were all done and Corey was sat beside Rosemary, who was munching away on the chocolate bar already, Corey looked patiently up at Lucien as the man made his request. Corey had a small smile on his face, eager to do something for the man in thanks for the relief he gave both himself and his daughter. "Of course," he said, nodding his head. It was a simple enough request and one Corey was glad to take, because he would benefit from a new friend, too. "I'll make sure to keep the seat next to mine open in the Great Hall, and we can walk together to my office afterward. Are you taking the train to school?" Corey always took the Hogwarts Express, since he was dropping off Rosemary to ride it anyway, it was just convenient.

Lucien chuckled as he watched the father and daughter interact. He thought it was kind of warm to see a man so openly caring for his child. Not many father's were that way. Yes, Lucien's father was like Corey King but men like them weren't that many. Even a few of his peers had strict parents, specially the pureblood ones. "Rosemary has been an excellent and cooperative patient. I wish my soon to be patients would be just like her." he praised as he then relaxed and took a step back. Hearing a positive reply, Lucien smiled. "Thank you, Professor.I would appreciate that very much." Lucien said and smiled. When he was asked if he would be riding the train or not. "Probably yes... maybe we'd run into each other there." he said and then took a deep breath and exhaled. "Since my work here is done, I shall see you both on the first of September. I need to make more rounds to see if there are still people who need help. A good night to you both." Lucien greeted them and moved to check on the others who might need his help.

Mali believed him. She didn't need long at all to answer that she believed Theo - and that she trusted him. This didn't mean much to Remus yet, not until he had time to do something with this information, but it was something to go on - a satisfactory scratch to the little itch of doubt growing in his brain. He sighed and nodded, resting his head against the counter as he thought what to do next. He wouldn't take her to the Ministry now, not like this. He very much doubted in her current state that Mali would do much running away. But the question still remained - what to do with her? He still had some reservations about just letting her go.
Remus was drawn from his musings by movement from Mali. She tensed up at the sight of an Auror passing close by them. Remus watched her watch him with a curious look on his own face. She was terrified; that's what that expression spoke to him. Terrified of being thrown in prison. Most people were, no doubt about that - but not with such a pure fear as Mali. The guilty ones usually showed their desperation with their fear; Mali just looked resigned, too weary to even hold the weight of her terror.
And despite it, as soon as the Auror passed, she was back to defending her Theo. That sort of sealed the deal for Remus, he supposed, in a way. She cared and she was scared and Remus himself had been in that exact place too many times to just let another person flounder through it all alone. He was getting involved, damn him, he was getting involved. He had to. Mali wasn't begging him for her freedom, or his silence - just a chance to talk to the person she cared about. He sighed against and pulled himself to his feet. "I can give you some time. Not a lot, but some. If that's the case, though, it's not a very good idea for me to be seen with you. I'll keep in touch." He looked her over, so vulnerable and small on the floor. "Do you need help getting home?" Darn soft spot.
