You don't HAVE to be just human in this wonderful wizarding world...if you'd like to play a vampire, please take a look at the info and rules below to see how they fit into both Harry Potter canon and our site canon!
General Character and Play Information
- Vampires are part of the living dead - they are creatures that drink the blood of humans.
- Vampires access the blood of humans by puncturing human necks with their very sharp fangs. This is the only efficient way for a vampire to drink blood, and the only way to gain the sufficient amount of blood they need to survive. Drinking from cuts and wounds will not provide enough blood and will lead to the vampire killing the provider of the blood anyway as their hunger overwhelms them.
- A human victim of a vampire either dies as a result of being drained of their blood, or is turned into a vampire themselves. There are no survivors of a vampire feeding.
- Without human blood, vampires will starve and die. Vampires cannot live off of animal blood, animal products, or any type of human food.
- Vampires cannot go out into the sun or daylight. They will burst into flames, and die.
- Vampires have a strong aversion to garlic and cannot stand to be around its scent.
- Vampires have Being status in the Department of Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures of the Ministry of Magic.
- Vampires cannot control themselves around humans for a sustained period of time. Their hunger for blood WILL eventually overwhelm any other desire.
- Vampires cannot feel exceptional amounts of human emotion. They are incapable of loving or truly befriending humans, as humans are mainly just food to them.
- Vampires take on a pale, gaunt appearance due to lack of sunlight.
Site-Specific Rules
- All vampires must be at an age where they are no longer living in denial about their condition. An in-denial vampire is especially dangerous to both themselves and others, and would be captured and prosecuted fairly quickly on this site. Generally, vampires must have been turned at least 50 years ago to avoid this.
- Vampires are not allowed human/vampire romantic relationships. This is something that is just not possible for a vampire.
- Vampires must bite necks to feed, and their victims must perish. Vampires cannot gain assistance from human allies by drinking through cuts and wounds, as the person would eventually die anyway as the vampire succumbed to their hunger.
- Vampires cannot go outside during the daytime - they will die. No amount of protective clothing can prevent this eventual death.
- Vampires do not have wands.
- Admin approval, and the approval of all involved parties, must be sought before any vampire character attempts to kill or change another human character.
- Because of their inability to go out in the sunlight and interact heavily with humans, not to mention the discrimination, it is very difficult for a vampire to hold a job. Any job a vampire has must be of the sort where they can work at night and generally work alone.
