You don't HAVE to be just human in this wonderful wizarding world...if you'd like to play a werewolf, please take a look at the info and rules below to see how they fit into both Harry Potter canon and our site canon!
General Character and Play Information
- Werewolves are infected with lycanthropy - once a month, at the rising of the full moon, they transform into a near-wolf being.
- Werewolves retain their personality in their human form, but in wolf form, their mind and personality are lost. Their one pursuit in this form is to aggressively hunt humans.
- One becomes a werewolf by being bitten by a werewolf in its wolf form. If a human is attacked by a werewolf in its human form, they will not be infected with lycanthropy, just lupine tendencies like the desire for rare meat.
- All wounds generated by a werewolf, whether in wolf or human form and even self-inflicted, will leave permanent scars about which nothing can be done.
- The full moon transformation is extremely painful.
- If werewolves transform and have no access to humans to hunt, they will hurt themselves out of frustration.
- Werewolves only hunt humans. They are harmless toward other animals, and can even take them on as companions at times, making the transformation easier.
- The only way for a werewolf to retain their human mind in their wolf form is to drink Wolfsbane. This potion is expensive and hard to come by. If a werewolf obtains it, they will be able to physically transform while still keeping their human mind about them.
- Werewolves are distinguishable in both their human and wolf forms. In human form, they are heavily scarred and aged prematurely. In wolf form, they resemble wolves but with shorter snouts, human eyes, and tufted tails.
- The week before the full moon induces a sort of sickness in werewolves. They grow pale and sickly.
- Silver and dittany are used to seal werewolf bites. Without these two ingredients, victims of attacks will die.
- Werewolves are heavily discriminated against, both in society and officially, by the Ministry. It is very, very difficult for a werewolf to have and keep a job.
- In human form, werewolves are classified by the Ministry as Beings. In wolf form, they are classified as the most dangerous level of Beast.
Site-Specific Rules
- Due to the nature of healing a werewolf bite, Muggle werewolves are extremely rare. Muggles don't have access to the ingredients needed to heal the bite. Muggle werewolves will not be accepted.
- Admin approval, as well as the approval of all parties involved, must be sought before a werewolf character attempts to turn or kill another human character.
