The excitement over being back at Hogwarts quickly wore off as professors saw it fit to load them down with oodles of homework to make up for the fact that many students had gone months without so much as looking at a spell book (she was guilty of this herself) and it took days before she had an ounce of free time. Apparently it was the fashion to drown students in extra work in their sixth year to compensate for the fact that they weren't taking OWLs or NEWTs. Couldn't let them be happy between two terribly stressful, miserable academic years. The moment her last bit of homework was done Jas headed down to the pitch, broom slung over her shoulder, brand new and top of the line thanks to a very lucrative summer job. Her boss was so pleased with her performance over the summer months that they awarded her with a nice end of summer bonus which gave her just enough money to purchase the newest Nimbus. It was easy to impress a boss when it was your mum though and really she deserved every pound of that given the amount of times the blasted roses pricked her finger. Not everyone could say they put their blood and tears literally into their work but Jas could. Jasmine nearly made it down the stairs and all the way out of the castle without seeing a soul 'til she heard a sickening crunch underneath her feet. Taking a step back and looking down she found someone's glasses under her feet. "Blimey!" she explained, unshouldering her broom and picking them up, observing the crack in the lens with regret and a bite of her lower lip. Not too far away was a distressed and very blind Ravenclaw scrabbling around and she called to him, holding up the broken pair of spectacles. "Oi! These yours?" _________________________ Bartholomew Caldeira

One of Bat's many nicknames was true in more than one sense. He was, quite frankly, blind as a bat, though he didn't have any handy echolocation to help him find his way around. Being incredibly nearsighted was all fine and dandy when he could keep his glasses on his face, but he also had a problem with that end of the bargain, and as he'd never taken to contact lenses Bat had to put up with losing his glasses constantly and flailing around like a drunken octopus while, hopefully, some kind soul retrieved his specs.
Today was one such example of this event. Having wrapped up his Divination homework, Bat had decided to enjoy some sunshine, and was heading out through the entrance hall when someone jostled him from behind in their rush to get outdoors. Bat flailed, overbalanced, and felt his glasses slip. He could now choose between rescuing his glasses or his tailbone, and in the split second before he thumped the ground he decided to save his tailbone and tumbled to his knees. His glasses shot off his face, bound for who-knows-where, and he was left in a world of fuzzy, indistinct shapes and colours. Bat took a moment to feel sorry for himself before he started to search along the ground for his glasses, hoping that he could find them by touch or someone would rescue them before they got stepped on.
It seemed the glasses had travelled further than he'd thought; they weren't anywhere at his fingertips and Bat was starting to get frustrated, sweeping the ground with wide strokes. Surely by now someone would have found the damn things. And, lo and behold - someone called out. Bat squinted in the direction of the voice. "If you're talking about my glasses, yes," he called, sitting back on his heels. "They seem to have abandoned ship."

Jasmine knew she'd found the owner of the spectacles the minute he squinted, like he couldn't see her. Terrible thing, vision problems must be. Glasses were cute fashion accessories but she was sure they would negatively effect her quidditch game if she were damned with poor eyesight. Thankfully Jas saw 20/20, thanks. The damn things were apparently very fragile, it only took one light step and then there was a large crack running right through the middle of the lens. No matter, she was a witch after all.
Jas stepped over to Bat, leaving her broom behind, and took a knee in front of him. "No matter, I found them." she said as she slipped the glasses back on to the cutie pie's face while promising "Just one sec and I'll have them good as new." It was a basic spell but after having spent the tediously long summer holiday without magic any excuse to use it was sort've thrilling. The Gryffindor reached into her pocket and withdrew her wand. The handle was a little worn, going into it's sixth year of use but otherwise it was just like the first time she held it as an excited eleven year old who just learned what wonderful things it could do.
"Hold still." Jas gave her trusty wand a flourish, ending in a point as she chimed "Reparo!" The mending charm worked beautiful, the seam of the crack smoothed itself out and the lens was good as new, like it was never there in the first place. "There!" she said with a note of pride in her voice, repocketing the wand. "How's that? Looks good if I do say so myself. Welcome back to the world of the seeing!" The sixth year stood up, brushing off her knees before offering a hand down to Bat. "Was just on my way to the Quidditch pitch, you wanna come?"

Once someone had (apparently) found his glasses, there wasn't much for him to do but sit tight and try not to damage himself. He wriggled a bit on the marble floor as he heard footsteps approaching, and wished (not for the first time) that he had sonar like an actual bat. Wouldn't that have been handy? He wouldn't need the glasses, though he figured his professors might not like his squeaking constantly in lessons.
"Great, thank you," Bat said fervently, as hands stirred the air in front of his face and then settled his glasses on his nose. He blinked as the world came back into focus, revealing a very curly-haired student and a large crack down one lens. He didn't have time to frown, though, as the girl promised she'd fix his glasses. "I'm just glad you found them," he sighed, waiting patiently for her to cast the spell. "I don't have a spare. Which is probably something I should look into considering how often my glasses decide to take a road trip."
She flourished her wand and the crack smoothed out almost instantly, looking neat and tidy and quite possibly cleaner than before. Bat just about went cross-eyed looking at it, then beamed at the girl. "Thank you so much," he chirped, pushing his glasses up his nose. "They've never looked better." He took her hand thankfully and stood, holding his head carefully to prevent another glasses mishap. "Sure! I'm Bat, by the way. You on the Quidditch team?"
