He was off. He was free from work and though he loved his job very much he enjoyed the days he got off. Tomorrow he had plans to meet up with Cassidy at Hogsmeade but today he was crashing at home and Cass was to come over so they could tackle as much ice cream as possible. In the meantime, he was happily sitting on his couch with his second and third favorite people in the world, his cats.
Blue was napping on the other end of the couch than Clay. Jinx was pouncing at random around the place looking for something to attack. It was how they normally spent their time. Clay read through one of his many books, Blue slept, and Jinx tried to cause some trouble. It was peaceful most days but then Jinx would be able to jump up onto the couch and start to pester Blue. Jinx was a playful little cat and Blue put the cat in cat nap. So, when she did end up on the couch with Clay and Blue she went straight for the other cat. Usually Blue ignored Jinx but today when the kitten got near the older one she was promptly pushed to the side. With another pounce to him, Blue swatted his paw at Jinx while she was in mid-air and knocked her right off the couch. Clay's eyes rose from the top of his book, "Where the heck did that come from Blue?" but the cat was back to sleep and Jinx was running to the kitchen deciding that she wanted some food.
Knowing the bowl was empty, Clay stood up and discarded his book on the coffee table. His arm feet felt cold on the wood floor of his apartment. He like keeping the place cold but he never seemed to remember that he should wear socks to keep his feet from suffering. He would learn at some point but today would not be the day he gives into the cold. It didn't take long to reach the kitchen as the living room, dining room and kitchen were all the same room. Clay grabbed the cat food that he kept on the counter and filled the bowl that Jinx was patiently waiting at. "There you go little girl," his hand petted her on her head before he put the box back.
Clay looked at te clock that his mother had gotten him a home warming gift all those years ago when he moved in and noticed that Cass would be there soon. He hadn't seen her in a few days, 5 days 6 hours and 20 ish minutes to be exact, and he missed her terribly. It was part of the reason he called her Lovebug. He was head over heels for the girl and he could physically feel his mood go down the slightest bit when she wasn't around. She brought up his mood and it felt as if only his good side came out around her. Cass was probably second in line to knowing everything about him. (Cassidy just knew some too embarrassing stories for him to tell his girlfriend) They could literally sit on a couch and just stare at each other and he would be happy. But it would be really good if he could just pull her close and never let her go. She meant too much to him. He honestly couldn't imagine life without her. Like what did he actually do before her?
So, he was a sappy, romantic guy in love. Which is why he wasn't being patient waiting for her. Since Jinx had already dragged him to that part of the apartment he just stayed on the ground and played with the kitten as he thought of Cass. He gave the cat a questionable look when she ran from him and straight to the door and started scratching at it. "Who needs a doorbell when we got you, Jinx," he said with a laugh as a noise came from the door. He got up off the floor and scooped Jinx into his arms, getting a well deserved scratch for disturbing her fun. He looked through the peephole to see Cass standing out his door. A large smile came to his face as he used the arm not holding the fussy kitten to open the door. "Quick. Get in here before the best tears through my arm to get out." he tried rushing Cass in.
The cats:

Jumpy Jinx
