Ever since Mikko had told Madison the truth, the young lion had been on edge. There was another werewolf at the school. One she had to share a common room with. One her friends had to share a room and classes with. At least with Professor Lupin, everyone knew what he was. People could steer clear. But no one knew about Toby. In all honesty, Madison figured she should have seen it. Toby was violent and harsh, always sneering and pushing other students. Like the beast inside was fighting to get out. The more Madison watched him, the angrier she became. He was clearly a danger to others. So what the hell was he doing here? There were rumors Professor King had found him and brought him back, although Madi couldn’t for the life of her figure out why. Just looking at him made her shoulder ache.
Still, she had tried to keep her distance for Mikko’s sake. He was clearly scared of the other boy. Madison didn’t want him worried about her ending up on the wrong side of another werewolf. But today when Toby stepped through the portrait into the common room and shoved a first year out of his way, something inside of Madi finally snapped. She slammed shut the herbology textbook she had been trying in vain to read, her eyes blazing as she stood to her feet. “Leave him alone, Turner.” Her voice was dangerously cold. Madison took a few short steps so she was standing in front of the student who had once been in her year. “Why don’t you pick on somebody your own size?” Somewhere in the back of her mind was Liza’s voice telling her not to fight fire with fire. But Madison was a fighter. Always had been. And right now, she really, really wanted to hit something. She glared up at Turner, silently daring him to give her a reason to connect her clenched fist with his hateful face. Witnesses be damned.

Tobias was not in a good mood today. While he was glad he met Des, a Ravenclaw who did want to talk to him a lot of shitty things had happened too. He heard students whisper which caused him to worry. They were whispering about werewolves, about Professor Lupin and about him… Toby was aware the teachers knew but he had always hoped that the students would never find out. It seemed that hope was in vain.
Toby didn’t have class the upcoming three hours and decided he’d take a nap. He’d most likely fall asleep in his later classes if he didn’t. Perhaps the lack of sleep was part of the reasons why he was moody. He wanted to enter the common room and turn to his dorm when a first year thought it was a good idea to hold the place up and read a book in the middle of the path. Toby almost walked over him because he hadn’t seen the boy. He was just in time to push him away or they’d have crashed. “Watch where you’re going. If you want to read, there are couches you can sit on,” he growled at the kid. Great now he seemed like the villain here. Those thoughts turned to be true as a girl whom he’d shared his first year with approached him. Really? He didn’t do anything wrong! The kid was unharmed. “What’s your problem? If I hadn’t put him aside people would have walked over him, I almost did,” he sneered at the girl. He rose an eyebrow. Toby was not picking on the kid, at least that was how he experienced it. He didn’t even know the first year and he didn’t care just like he didn’t care about this girl. The werewolf put his hand on her shoulder and moved her 90° so he could pass and continue to walk to his dorm. “Get out of my way,” he mumbled not realizing that this action might provoke the girl.

What was the saying about dogs? All bark and no bite? Well, Toby must be the exception because he was very much of both, smarting off to Madison with his usual sneer. (Or at least, that was how she saw the situation.) “You didn’t have to push him, you git. He wasn’t doing anything wrong,” she fired back angrily. The fact that she might have been a little irritated herself at nearly mowing over some first year was completely beside the point here.
Toby proceeded to push Madi’s shoulder to get her out of his way. That would’ve pissed her off enough under normal circumstances, but the shoulder Toby was unfortunate enough to put his hand on just happened to be the shoulder that had gotten scratched in Godric’s Hollow. The feeling of another werewolf laying hands on her, especially there, was too much. Madi’s fight or flight response kicked in. And as usual, it was the fight that won out. She grabbed the hand on her shoulder, yanking his arm forward while simultaneously ducking under it so she was behind him. The combined pull and a push of her foot against the back of his knee sent Toby straight to the ground. “Don't touch me! Don’t you ever touch me!” Despite the steel in Madi’s voice and the fire blazing in her eyes, there was also a tiny hint of fear buried beneath them. She wasn’t going to let another werewolf hurt her. One of her feet shifted backwards ever so subtly as her hands slid into fists. She couldn’t fight the werewolves that had attacked her, but she could most definitely fight Toby. In fact, she was rather hoping he came at her again. He made the perfect target for her pent-up anger.

“Don’t pretend you care for the kid, as if your stupid pranks have never harmed anyone,” he said and rolled his eyes. Talking about being a hypocrite. Some students fainted in the train because of the smell and anyone could tell which group had been responsible. Tobias groaned. He was starting to think that Kingsley was only doing this because she held some kind of grudge against him. What had he ever done to her? Besides shoving her aside during the career day.
Toby tried to leave when his hand was removed from kingsley’s shoulder and he was pulled forward. It all happened too quickly for him to do anything about. Would this have been on the streets he would have been alert of such actions. “What the fuck, Kingsley!” Toby shouted and jerked his head back to hit her with the back of his head. He’d surely regret the following actions later as he promised King to stay out of trouble and surely not get into another fight soon. But right now he was pumped on adrenaline, he was already in a bad mood and now she could get it. The werewolf used his free arm to gram the arm which was holding his. In a smooth movement he threw her over him. He’d done this stuff before. He stood up and grabbed her by her collar using both hands to raise her above the ground and bring her at eye level. Tobias may be skinny but he was tall and strong which he would use as his advantage. He didn’t have the chance to notice the hidden fear in her eyes until now. His face twitched at this notice, he’d seen it many times on people. Whether they pretended to be nice or angry he could always see the hidden fear. Almost all times because they figured out he…. Fuck.
“Then stay the fuck away from me, you munter. Piss off and mind you own bloody business,” he growled with a threatening look in his eyes. He was scared too, scared of what she could do and take from him and whenever Tobias was scared he turned aggressive. Toby felt the urge to throw her or push her away but instead he just dropped her leaving it to herself to fall on her feet or on the ground. He swore if this bitch was going to be the reason he lost his chance of an education he’d make her regret it.

Toby moved fast, far faster than Madi was expecting. The back of his head collided with her forehead, and then she was in front of him being held up by her collar. That took a second to process. But the sneer in his voice turned the fire kindling in her stomach into a full blazing roar. Two could play this game. Madison slammed her head forward as hard as she could. Toby had chosen that exact moment to drop her though, and Madi’s forehead cracked against his cheekbone instead of his own forehead. Not that it mattered. Pain was pain. Madison was quick too, and she landed in a crouch. A smart person would’ve left it there and walked away. But Madi was a fighter, not a thinker. Instead she slammed forward, crashing her shoulder into Toby’s stomach to knock him backwards and hopefully to the ground. “I said don’t touch me!”
She instinctively jerked back a half step out of his reach just in case he didn’t fall. Her fists came up in front of her face with practiced ease. Fighting it was. She didn’t even care that the whole common room was watching them now. A few were clearly spoiling for a fight just as much as Madi, judging by the jeering and the looks. Turner obviously didn’t have a lot of allies here. At another time, Madison probably would’ve seen some sort of dishonor in attacking the apparent underdog. But right now she just wanted to hit something. And nothing and no one was going to get in her way.

Tobias felt an impact against his cheek as he dropped the girl. She clearly aimed somewhere else but it did strike just as hard. Toby let out a groan as he felt his cheek react to the hit. It sure was going to be a bruise. The boy rubbed his cheek and glared at Kingsley who landed on her feet. This bitch. He wanted to leave it there and hoped she’d walk away. But instead he was caught off guard as her shoulder slammed into his stomach. All air was hit out of his lungs. Pain shot through his abdomen as he clung his arms around his waist and groaned. His back hit a couch that was behind him. That had hurt.
Fire was in his eyes, girl or not if she could throw a punch at him he could throw a punch back. Toby had never the rule of not hitting girls. He didn’t hit defenseless people and she definitely proved to be able to defend herself. Still a little voice in the back of his head whispered he should leave now. He already was in trouble after the career day. Fighting in the middle of the common room was no smart idea. But Toby couldn’t think right now. He wasn’t going to let this girl beat him up. He never went down without a fight, so a fight she'd get. They were noticed but Tobias had a tunnel vision, he didn’t see his surroundings. “Then why don’t you stop first, you hag?” The boy hissed as he pretended to go for a punch but instead he kicked her left shin. It was a trick he learned on the streets, shins were always underestimated. There was a reason why sporters wore protection there.
