It was a long trek from Gryffindor Tower down to the transfiguration classroom. Madison spent every second of it simmering like a pot about to boil over. She didn’t mind being in trouble. She had rather gotten used to it by this point. She and the rest of Wolf’s little gang got up to enough mischief that Professor King wasn’t even surprised anymore when one or more of them were sent to him for punishment. Normally, it didn’t even bother Madi for it to be Liza escorting her to their head of house. Madison was a prankster and her best friend was a prefect (head girl now), and somewhere along the way they had both made peace with that. But this time… This time is mattered. Because on some level Liza clearly seemed to think that Madison was in the wrong here. That poor pitiful little Toby had been harassed without cause. And after everything the two girls had been through, after what Madi had endured this summer, for Liza to react like this felt like the sharpest of betrayals. Liza knew what had happened in Godric’s Hollow. She knew how much it was affecting Madi, despite all the younger girl’s insistence to the contrary. And yet she had gone and sided with a bully and a werewolf over her best friend. And that stung. Like lemon juice on a papercut. Madison couldn’t even look at Liza as their little group marched silently into Professor King’s classroom and toward his desk. Seeing him sitting there was rarely an intimidating experience. Professor King might dole out punishment when he had to, but he wasn’t intimidating enough to make it truly painful. Or maybe it was just that Madi usually deemed the price worth whatever mischief she had kicked up. But today seeing him just made her angrier. He was the one who had brought Toby back. And so far he hadn’t done a damn thing to rein in the boy’s behavior, at least not that Madison could see. He was clearly biased toward Toby, which meant he would be far from impartial here. One more person who would paint her as the bad guy. Madison crossed her arms and glared defiantly at her head of house as she waited for Liza to explain why they were here. They could punish her all they wanted, but they couldn’t force her to feel bad about what she had done. Because she didn’t. Not at all. She would happily do it all again, and to hell with the consequences. The only thing she regretted was not getting in a few more hits before they were separated. Although the sight of a bruise forming on Turner’s face was downright satisfying. Served him right.
@julia7 , @liza and Corey King Sequel to this. I'm assuming the fight turned physical, so Toby is welcome to say he got in a hit at Madison too.

Corey knew it would happen eventually - it was just a matter of waiting. Eventually, once things settled down from the beginning of the term, trouble always arose in some form or another. Honestly, with everything going on in their world right now, Corey was expecting trouble sooner. Tensions were high and people were scared. Even as children, the students knew something wasn't right. He'd even had a few come to him and express at such. No conflicts, though - not until now.
The little troupe of people that marched into his office didn't exactly surprise him. Liza was the Head Girl now, it made sense for her to be there. And Madison, he saw the two of them together often enough that there was no surprise there, either. And then there was Toby. Corey felt a tiny pang of guilt at not being surprised to see the boy - and with a bruise on his face to boot. The boy was troubled, and Corey was trying his best to make him feel cared for, but it was hard going. He felt all of his efforts sort of crumbled when he had to punish the boy; but Corey did have to be fair to all of his students.
Corey stretched up out of his chair, working out his muscles for a moment before leaning his hands on his desk. He looked to Liza first. "Yes, Liza? Has something happened?"

Elizabeth was mad. No - mad didn't begin to cover how she was feeling, but there was a lot of anger there, and the fact that most of it was towards her best friend seemed to make it worse. As she marched the pair of lions down stairs and along corridors, the red head didn't say a word. Madison was a fighter, and Liza knew that, but she hadn't thought that she would ever just attack someone. She couldn't believe it. Her and Madi's relationship was simple, Liza would turn a blind eye most of the time, so long as Madi didn't do anything too big (Liza couldn't claim not to have noticed it if that was the case) and her pranks didn't hurt someone. It had happened, of course, that some of the pranks had, but none of them had been serious, and all of them had been accidental. But this... this was deliberate attacking and hurting and hitting of a fellow Gryffindor. While Elizabeth didn't know much about Turner, she was adamant that nothing he could have possibly done could have warranted the violence that her friend had displayed.
As they reached the door of the classroom, Liza shot a glare at Madi, but her friend wasn't looking. She didn't say anything, and forgot to knock, pushing into the classroom and motioning for the two behind her to follow. Professor King, unfortunately, wasn't the most intimidating figure, and Madison was acquainted with his punishments. Liza took a deep breath as the man spoke, trying to dissipate some of the anger that she felt. How could Madi do that? How could she just leap into a fight with someone who... well, he was a bully, but a full on fight? Turner had a bruise forming, and that was all because of Madi. Liza glanced at her friend before she spoke.
"I– Professor King, I– I just had to break up a fight," Liza said, trying and failing to control the anger in her voice. "Turner shoved someone, I think." -Thats what some bystander had told her, anyway- "And Madison seemed to think it was her job to start a fight with him. In the middle of the commonroom. In front of the first and second years. For Merlin's sake, what were you thinking? You think that's what we should be teaching the younger kids? Deal with bullies by punching them?" Liza's voice cracked. Somewhere in that, her anger had turned to disappointment, and her eyes had turned on Madi. Now, they glared at the younger lion, betraying exactly how she felt. It probably wasn't such a good idea to patronise her friend (or calling Toby a bully either, but she hadn't thought of that), particularly as there was a professor in the room. But, somehow, Liza felt betrayed by Madison. Did she think that fighting was going to be okay in Liza's books? Liza had thought that was their agreement - their unspoken agreement. But apparently, Madi needed it to be spoken, because she had totally disregarded it, and though it wasn't even Liza's fight, it felt like betrayal and it stung.

Tobias was in trouble once again. It was the same old story. Someone had it out for him and he couldn’t leave the situation in time. He’d been moody and tired. Toby just wanted to catch some sleep but instead he caught a fist to the face. While it was always clear that the Kinglsey chick didn’t like him, he saw no need to punch him. Even if she pretended she stood up for the kid, he was sure she was just using the opportunity. He had seen the hate and fear in her eyes. Which went deeper than a normal highschool dislike. Not that it would change anything King would really be disappointed in him which was a worse feeling than the bruise on his face. Toby got hurt more often than not so mental pain hit harder than physical pain. He was sure he’d get the blame, he was the bigger one of the two. Also the one who had a past of violence and incidents.
He followed the head girl and Kingsley. Now and then he checked the hallways to find an escape route. He really felt the urge to run away because it was way easier to run from your problems rather than face them. However he realized that he’d probably be in more trouble if he took off right now. Besides it was too late as they already stood before the transfiguration office.
Upon entering he avoided eye contact with all of the present people. There was a frown on his face as he stared at the wall on the side of him. The head girl started talking and Toby crossed his arms. He only half listened because he already knew what happened. That was when the word bullies was dropped. “Oh so I’m a bully for moving a kid which I otherwise would have stumbled over,” he mumbled as he rolled his eyes. In his mind that didn’t make anyone a bully yet. He didn’t know the kid and he didn’t care either.

The explanation that left Liza’s lips quickly turned into a lecture directed Madi’s way. She kept her gaze firmly forward, her jaw steadily clenching tighter and tighter. She was too angry to even notice Turner’s sass. “Of course you’re on his side. You’re always on their side. Always going on about how they’re all just so misunderstood. Only they’re not! They hurt people! They hurt two of your own teammates, and you’re still on their side!” Did Liza even know about Mikko? Probably not. Madi had a feeling she was the only one he had told. Still. She turned to face Liza with eyes blazing. “Well I’m done with it! You don’t get to talk about them anymore because you don’t know! You weren’t bloody there! You have no idea what it was like that night! What it’s still bloody like!” How this had become about Godric’s Hollow, Madi had no idea. But she was too angry to care. “Yeah, I shoved Turner. I had a problem with another werewolf touching me. And I’m not apologizing for it. I guess I just thought maybe my best friend would understand that.” Only now, as she started running out of steam, did it finally dawn on her that Liza might not actually know what was going on here. “Turner’s a werewolf, by the way. Which you would know if you’d actually asked instead of just assuming it was all my fault.”
Madison turned her gaze back to Professor King, mostly in an effort to keep Liza from seeing the angry tears welling in her eyes, but seeing him sitting there just stoked her anger. “Not that it matters, right? It’s got to be my fault. Can’t possibly be poor little Turner’s.” Her voice was dripping with sarcasm and complete disregard for the fact it was directed toward her head of house. “He’s just misunderstood, right? We should all just cut him a little slack. Who cares if he’s kicking around the younger students? Well, if Turner’s so bloody harmless, maybe he should try acting like it.” Talking to a professor like that probably wasn't a smart move. But Madison was already convinced he would come down on Turner’s side. Might as well give him a reason. Her gaze slid to the ground in angry defeat as she crossed her arms. “Do whatever you want,” she said quietly. “Throw me in detention, take points, whatever. I don’t bloody care.” And she didn’t. There was a werewolf at this school, one she had to share a common room with, one who was clearly violent just like her attackers. And instead of being sensitive to that, Madi’s best friend had actually gone and sided with him. No punishment of King’s could possibly hurt as much as that.

Corey had come to expect high emotions from his little lions by this point. Many of them were exactly like him, then and now - passionate, stubborn, occasionally hardheaded. As Head of House, he saw his students at both their best and their worst, and Gryffindors didn't particularly handle their worst all that well. Even Liza looked upset, and as far as Corey knew, this wasn't her fight. She was just doing her job as Head Girl. With all the high emotions thickening the very air around them, Corey could sense the complexity of this problem before they even spoke it. He settled in for the long haul.
Liza answered him, helpfully at first, but then her answer to him turned into a lecture for Madison. "Thank you, Liza. That's enough." Corey held up a hand to draw the focus back to him, but he soon had to wonder if any of the three of them were paying him any attention at all. Toby muttered something under his breath which drew Corey's gaze to him, from where it then bounced to Madison as she fought back at Liza. Goodness gracious - who was really even fighting here?
Madison was almost in a frenzy. Corey tried to interject several times but was spoken over every time. He wasn't going to get a word in until she got all hers out - another thing he learned quickly from raising little Gryffindors. Just because he allowed her words, though, didn't mean he liked them. He didn't like them one bit. Corey drew himself up as Madison went on, crossing his arms over his chest and fixing her with a look that could wilt a mandrake.
"Are you quite finished?" He raised an eyebrow when the girl eventually grumbled her way to silence. "You do not talk to me like that Madison, you know better than that. You don't talk to your Head Girl like that, and you most certainly do not speak about your fellow Gryffindors in such a manner. We are going to get to the bottom of the problem you came here for, but you've just created another one for yourself. You have to learn to control your anger like an adult if you expect to be treated like one. And we will be doing that in detention for the next week, absolutely. That, and learning a great deal about respect." Corey huffed, taking a moment to breathe. Maybe a little harsh, but Corey wasn't having any disrespect in his house. Not toward anyone. He'd worked hard to eradicate that nonsense when his Gryffindors were harrassing the Slytherins; he wasn't going to deal with that again with this new group facing persecution.
"Now," Corey spoke again, his attention turning back to Liza. "You said Toby shoved someone? Are you able to calmly explain to me exactly what happened?"
