Liza hated this. She hated that Madi wasn't speaking to her. She hated that she hadn't noticed the fact that Turner went missing once a month and was in the hospital wing for a few days after. She hated the fact that Madi had delibrately hurt someone. And she hated homework. How was she supposed to concentrate on Numerology and Grammàtica II with all those other things going on in her head? She needed someone to talk to; someone she was close to, and preferably in Gryffindor so she didn't have to leave the commonroom. And now Madi was out of the picture, Liza just couldn't think what to do. If she was being honest she wanted Lyra. Desperately. She flopped back in the chair, listening to the general chatter of the commonroom. A group of first years conversed about how hard their astronomy assignment was, some older kids were talking about some boy - damnit of course it was Wolf, and someone was talking about the fight in the commonroom - which was exactly what Liza needed. Sighing in annoyance, the Head Girl gathered her things and made her way towards the dorms. Going to the seventh years' dorms meant passing by the fifth years', and unfortunately, Liza managed to time it all perfectly so that Madison Kingsley stepped out of her room just as Liza passed the fourth years' dorm. Damnit, no! This wasn't what she wanted to happen. She wasn't happy with Madi, and didn't want to see her. Liza was kind to everyone, and it wasn't often that she wasn't, so she tried to avoid that sort of conflict. She was afraid that talking to Madi would end in her saying something unkind that she would regret later. Which was sort of why she'd been avoiding the girl. But now, she was there, right in front of her, and Liza couldn't avoid her now. She paused for a moment, making eye contact with the girl, and her mouth said the first thing that came to mind at seeing her friend. "Hey." But, for once, it wasn't accompanied with her usual bubbly smile. Instead, a soft frown creased her brow, and her eyes watched Madi warily, afraid of what she might say. Hey so I did the thing. I know I haven't replied to other stuff yet, but this was getting a little late so here it is

It was a fact of life that Gryffindors had a habit of being biased. They might be all about justice and being on the side of good, but their perception of what exactly that entailed could often be a bit skewed. Each tended to believe they were the correct party. And when that could make them fearless when defending a cause, it also made them hell to argue with. Because a Gryffindor convinced of their side would give no quarter. Not even for their best friend.
Some time had passed since the fight with Turner, and Madi’s head had cleared a bit since then. She realized now fighting with Turner hadn’t been the best course of action. It wasn’t like she had set out to fight him though. He had touched her, and she had reacted, and he had reacted back, and it had just sort of snowballed out of control. It was his fault every bit as much as it was hers. But Liza didn’t seem to see it that way. She was apparently under the impression that Madison had straight up assaulted Turner, who she was also apparently trying to make nice with if the whispers of Hogwarts grapevine were to be believed. And that made Madi angry. Actually it hurt her far more than angered her, but she tended to cover pain with anger. Liza had barely even tried to speak to her since that day in King’s office. In fact, she was more or less avoiding Madison outright. (Not that Madi would’ve said much to her, but still. It was the principle of the thing.) And yet apparently she was off checking on Turner who she barely knew. But Turner wasn’t the only one having a shit time. Madi could live with Liza being ticked off about the fight. It wouldn’t be the first time. But what she couldn’t stand was that Turner’s issues seemed to excuse all wrongdoing on his part, while Madison’s own trauma (unwilling though she might be to admit it) apparently amounted to nothing. Liza had chosen to side against Madi at a time when Madi needed her most. And that was unforgivable.
Thankfully the castle was a large place, and there were enough other lions to hang out with that Madi could usually manage to avoid Liza. (Although Quidditch practice was quickly becoming hell on Earth.) But the world seemed to get infinitely smaller whenever Madi was upset with someone. And today when she stepped out of the fifth year girls’ dorm to go find Wolf and the others (both for some fun and because she knew Liza couldn’t stand the other beater), she nearly ran right into Liza. The two girls stared awkwardly at each other, and Madison tried to drop her gaze before Liza could see the hurt flash through her eyes. Liza had picked her side. The redhead did manage a weak greeting, but it sounded forced. Madi didn’t dare look up from her shoes in case Liza was staring at her with that same disappointed frown that had become so common lately. Because if Madison had to look at that expression one more time, she was most definitely going to say something she would regret. Instead she just mumbled, “You’re blocking the hall.” It was a far cry from their usual warm and chipper conversations. But Madi was feeling neither warm nor chipper, especially not with regards to the best friend who for all intents and purposes seemed to have abandoned her. So short and stiff it was.

Amy sat in the common room doing her homework quietly. She really was concentrating quiet hard on a complex piece of spell work The 14 year old tried her best to stay out of school drama. She really did find it so exhausting sometimes and so...beneath her. Seriously she did have far more important things to be worrying about and troubling herself with.
She was not sitting too far away from two older girls and it was not hard to detect the tension between the pair. The young Welsh girl tried her best to ignore it but it was all rather awkward and somewhat distracting if she was honest about the situation. She looked towards the duo. Were they not best friends last year? It was so hard to keep track of who is friends with who and who have fallen out now a days. Sometimes it seemed to Amy that some students changed friends more often than they changed their socks.
Of course Amy was not accusing this pair or either of these girls of this. It was just a general observation that the 14 year old girl had about things in general. It was probably one of the reasons she held school drama in such contempt. Although a part of her was actually tempted to listen into this conversation to try and understand exactly what was going on the 4th year instead returned to her school work and tried to concentrate on it. Ignoring the distraction going on next to her.
((OOC: I hope you dont mind Amy posting her))
