Alec was a man of what he viewed as singular talent. While others were exceptional at magic and dueling (looking at you, chosen one) he was good at hitting things with a bat. It wasn't that he was bad at other things, just at ordinary levels. Nothing spectacular or note worthy which to him meant that he should use his singular talent to the best of his advantage. And certainly use it, he had. Alec had built quite a name for himself with Quidditch. His face graced the covers of magazines and news papers, he had broom endorsement deals and autograph signing session. The man couldn't stroll down Diagon Alley without being recognized at least once but his talent wasn't being used for good. How would one use Quidditch for good? One couldn't defeat a Dark Witch or Wizard with a well placed bludger, after all.
What Alec could do was provide a distraction. Give people something to be focused on or excited about so their mind didn't have time to be frightened. It led to more 'fan events' than ever before. Special quidditch games, special interaction sessions and today... an actual quidditch workshop geared towards Hogwarts students. They were to meet in the same temporary Quidditch field that the 'celebrity' match was held in. He had arranged to have every position represented. Cassabelle Blackburn for Chaser, Harry Potter for Seeker, Ron Weasley (who kept giving him a death glare) for Keeper and himself, of course, for Beater. It was a sort of assembly of Quidditch legends. None was better with the quaffle then his very close friend Cassabelle, in his totally unbiased opinion.
The (current and former) players stood on the pitch. Alec stood casually, decked out in his team's practice robes, his broom casually leaned against one shoulder and bat laid out at his feet. Students were to arrive any moment now and they could go to whichever player that represented the skill they needed to work on. He hoped that he would see his chosen few Hogwarts students that he'd decided to keep a special eye on, not for skill but for their need of some sort of positive influence in their life, their need for a friend. Alec was a very busy man, what with these events and his normal operations as a Quidditch Captain but he was never too busy to neglect a child in need.
"Ready?" he asked the assembled team with a wide grin, voice edged with excitement. The first students were just reaching the pitch and the Puddlemere captain was eager to get up in the air and help some Quidditch hopefuls improve their skills.

Things were getting very Quidditchy for Ron these past few weeks. It all started with Harry being asked to play in a Quidditch match against his favorite team and soon the--um--the fates aligned, and Ron got to play for the greatest team of all time, The Chuddley Cannons. It was a dream, and he'd recounted the story so much that his family and friends fled the moment any subject leaned towards brooms, flying, or even the color orange. Ron could still hardly believe it himself! He got to play on the same pitch, on the same team as Casabelle Blackburn. The greatest Chaser of all time. (Sorry, Gin.) The woman who flew across the posters pinned to his bedroom wall and fluttered through some of his most pleasant Quidditch dreams. Hermione sometimes joked that she had to compete for his affection with a woman who likely didn't even know that he existed.
Cassabelle Blackburn was aware of his existence now and was even standing by him, on the very same grass. Ron's heart was atwitter with excitement, buzzing with feelings of admiration. Alternatively, he got a bite of bitter..something. Jealousy, annoyance, what have you when he glanced in the direction of Alec Wayland, Puddlemere Captain and apparent bloody philanthropist. And git, if you asked Ron. Strutting around like he was God's gift to Quidditch. You'd think with all his money the bloke could buy himself a comb, he couldn't honestly think the windswept look was good for him, could he? Git.. Along with the two Quidditch stars, Harry was there of course, the best seeker of their age.
Ron stood, waiting for the activity to begin. His long body leaned against his propped up broomstick, chin resting on the handle. He was dressed warmly in faded hand me down jeans and his latest Weasley sweater, a golden R stitched onto a maroon background. Blue eyes constantly drifted between Cassabelle and Alec, his gaze considerably harder when he looked at the latter. The young auror would by lying if he said he wasn't honored when the puddlemere captain approached him about participating, it earned a point or two in his favor but as the teams were bitter rivals this was the way it had to be.
Children began to filter onto the field and the Weasley straightened up and shifted his weight back. He had to admit, it was rather nice to see Hogwarts in the background. It brought back fond feelings of friendship and warmed his chest. Ron nudged Harry with his elbow, grin on his freckledface. "Ready, mate?"

Alec was making it harder and harder to keep up this rivalry act, what with all the awesome ideas he kept coming up with. It made Cass look like quite the grouch, poking fun at the guy doing all this work just to make people happy. People got it though, right? He kept her grinning enough herself that no one really believed all the smack talk, surely. Well, except for maybe some of her most dedicated fans...
The looks Ron Weasley always shot Alec were both hilarious and just the slightest bit unnerving. Ron Weasley was a hero, Cass was sure he didn't just go picking fights with people over something as petty as rivalry, but still. Apparently, war heroes and Quidditch players were getting chummy nowadays, and Cass wanted to see smiles from all involved. For the children, at the very least!
Speaking of, said children - their targets for today - slowly came dwindling onto the field. Cass put on her very best smile, nodding at the other positions represented. Her gaze lingered on Ron a moment longer, until he fell into conversation with Harry Potter. Cass took half a step toward Alec and leaned in, casually tossing a Quaffle between her hands. "Looks like we need to work on inter-team fan relations next, huh?" She winked at him. "You're really starting to make me look like the bad guy, Mr. Charity." Cassabelle truly appreciated everything that Alec did and thought it was bloody awesome, every bit of it. But they had to put on the show, right?

To say Donald was excited was an understatement. The 13 year old loved quidditch and upon hearing of the special quidditch he rushed off to the temporary quidditch pitch in Hogsmeade eager to see if it was true. If not he would be terribly upset. Maybe it was best never to believe school rumours. Although none of his favourite players would be there the Welsh wizard was still hopeful that this story was indeed true. To see some of the best of the best show off their skills would be something special indeed.
To his utter delight it seemed to be. The Ravenclaw seeker heart beat with increased rapid excited. Maybe he could get some seeker tips from the Harry Potter himself, the hero, the boy who lived. Would a proud Gryffindor want to give a Ravenclaw tips? And, more importantly, if the pale skinned boy got a catch to meet Mr.Potter would he be able to speak? Donnie sincerely doubted that he could be able to form any words in front of such a living legend but he would try to....maybe.
The Welsh wizard looked at the assortment of players already there. He recognised Alec, and Cassabella and of course Harry who was in conversation with a ginger haired man. He assumed that must be Ron. He must have arrived a bit early in his over eagerness. Donnie stood rather sheepishly wondering if he should turn around and come back a bit later. Maybe he was disturbing them by being there? Perhaps he had made a mistake and this was not actually for students at all and was just a private game? What if he was about to get into trouble?
The spiky haired lad shook himself mentally, no, of course that wasn’t it. He wouldn’t let his own paranoia dampen his mood. Instead he decided to let his own excitement for what he was about to witness increase. Surely it would be an absolutely amazing spectacle.

Harry was rather enjoying the indulgence in Quidditch that he'd been taking part in recently. It was an excellent outlet and distraction, and he occasionally wondered (on bad days) why he didn't just quit his job and go for Quidditch full-time. Granted, Puddlemere did already have a Seeker, but Alec had made it fairly clear that Harry had an in...
Tempting. Very tempting. However, for now, he had a job to do, at the request of the aforementioned Captain, and so he was standing on the pitch, in a sweater similar to Ron's - not Puddlemere blue, but a Gryffindor red with a snitch on the chest. Just in case the students couldn't tell who the Seeker was, Harry thought with amusement.
Ron didn't seem to like Alec as much as Harry did, but he was completely smitten (in a professional way - Harry knew that Ron's heart belonged to Hermione regardless of what Quidditch pro was on the court) with the Cannons captain. When he managed to look away from the captains, Ron shot Harry a grin. "Ready as ever," Harry agreed, raising a hand to wave in a friendly manner at the students heading onto the field. "Wanna bet I get asked about the Wronski Feint? I swear there's always a first-year who wants to do it."
First-years or no, the students were approaching, and Harry nudged Ron with an elbow, gesturing at the crowd. "We don't bite," he called, glancing at Alec. "Promise!"
