Jasmine always had an affinity for flowers, it came from her mother who owned her own florist shop and named her children as if they were all flowers in her own little garden. She enjoyed being around them (now that the aversion to them from her 'summer job' in her family's shop had worn off) so when she spotted a magical flower shop in Diagon Alley it was only natural that she would check it out. The lanky Gryffindor spent a long time, marveling at the magical collection. There were flowers that changed colors, flowers that could bite, ones that smelled like chocolate or something not floral. She was completely enthralled by what she saw and wished that she could coax her parents there but it wasn't likely. Now that she was older and had proven herself at least a little financially responsible (with her whole saving and buying her own broom) they trusted her not only to go off to Diagon Alley by herself but to escort her little siblings there as well. It didn't hurt that they lived a few blocks away, but if her parents knew the unrest in the wizarding world they'd lock her in a closet and not let her return to Hogwarts after the holiday.
Frankly, it was terrifying. People whispered about Death Eaters behind their hands and over their drinks. Rumors of an uprising, rumors of Ministry support. Jasmine wasn't really involved in the whole Voldemort thing the first time around but she'd heard about it and as a muggleborn it made her feel very nervous at the news that the supporters that he left behind were reorganizing. All that made it important to stop and smell the flowers, though. Enjoy the beautiful things in life while things still felt uncomplicated, and that's what she did. Jasmine had only leaned down to investigate a plant that seemed to sway in a non existent wind when a billywig popped out from under a leaf and gave her a good sting. She yelped and swatted at the bug which only agitated it to sting her again. Like a bull in a china shop, Jasmine upended a row of potted plants as he jumped back. Her flapping hand and the flurry of sound and activity only provoked the bug to land a few more stings as the Gryffindor fled out of the shop while begging forgiveness from the confused shop attendant who'd just emerged from the back.
Out in the open and apparently satisfied with the handful of stings, the billywig fluttered off to find itself another plant to nest in. Bloody insect. As the adrenaline subsided and the billywig's venom seeped into her bloodstream, Jasmine began to feel very.... light. Both in spirit and in weight. She was definitely giddy, lips splitting into a wide and toothy grin. She was standing outside of the shop, basking in all of her newfound happiness when her feet lifted off the cobblestone. She was floating up..and up..and up. The whole long frame of Jasmine Watson was levitating off the ground, no broom or anything! The wind blew her and she drifted along with it as she floated up in the air, rising higher. It was nice, the wind blowing through her curls and it felt more freeing than any trip on a broomstick did.
She laughed and swam through the air, flipping over and back stroking along the street as she floated above it. She rose higher still, getting caught up in a tree before the wind blew her past it. Smacking against the tree branch knocked the giddy feeling of the billywig venom right out of her and the seriousness of the situation dawned on her. Jasmine was literally floating away! She flailed her long limbs, attempting to grab onto something to anchor her in Diagon. She'd managed to waft all the way over to Knockturn Alley before she grabbed onto the very edge of a roof and clung to it for dear life. Eventually help arrived in the form of a tall Medi-Wizard in acid green robes. The feeling of danger had passed and the giddy feeling had returned so when she saw him, Jas gave a low whistle "You're a tall bugger, ain'tcha?" She knew those feels, being tall herself. "As uh...brilliant as the view is here, you think you could get me down?" A bird's eyeview of Knockturn Alley was not very brilliant at all, really. A little depressing, a little frightening and as a muggleborn she didn't feel particularly welcome around these parts.
