Two's A Crowd

It felt like things had finally gone and quieted down in the world which allowed Mali to settle in nicely to life around the castle. She enjoyed her position as school healer, the students were very amusing and came up with inventive ways to injure or make themselves ill. It was a challenge to set things right sometimes, but in the best way. She wasn't racing a clock or dodging aggressive and confused patients while she worked out how to solve the problem. It wasn't quite like her position as specialist, but enough to leave her satisfied.
The small witch made her way through the halls with a bounce in her step as she hummed a song that was made up as she went. There was a heavy dose of nostalgia between those walls that reminded her of simpler times. At least mostly simpler times, there was an entire year of her life that Mali mostly refused to talk about or acknowledge but she had no responsibility during the times before or after that year. The little werewolf operation she had going was a responsibility now, it was something she had to do. Part of it was because she couldn't idly sit by and watch the Ministry step all over someone but another part of it was a desperate attempt at redemption, to help people to make up for how she couldn't help two patients a long time ago in the hospital corridor.
It might've still happened without that, though. Mali was a helper, even Meg thought so. Her first instinct was to figure out how she could help someone and that was what made her such a wonderful Hufflepuff back in the day. So when Mali started to notice a certain student frequently off by themselves, she made a mental note and the impulse began. She didn't stick to the hospital wing, after all. When there was no patients to attend to she would roam the grounds, sometimes she'd scoot down to the green house to talk to the Herbology professor about the qualities of certain plants (for enhancing her potions.) or sashay off to the library to find a book on Healing. To have all those books at her fingertips? Thrilling. Today she was heading back after visiting Remus and had managed to get herself turned around on the stair cases and hopelessly lost in the castle (It had been a few years, forgive her.) but still, Mali hummed and bounced through corridor after corridor.
Her path took her right past a mostly empty tower save for a young Ravenclaw folded up in one of the chairs. Mali stopped short and changed her trajectory, waltzing merrily into the tower and flopping down in a nearby empty chair. "Hello! You mind? I'm lost and I've walked literally all over the castle and my feet sort've hurt so...." she trailed off with a shrug before looking around the room with the fondest of smiles on her face. "I used to sneak off to a tower like this, maybe this tower? I'm not sure they all look alike and I'm a little turned around. I like to read muggle romance novels and sometimes people made fun of it, so I read them when I was alone. They were much better when they felt like a dirty secret, anyway. It's weird how many places you can find to be alone with so many people around, mm?"
