Remus struck him as a man who could appreciate the arts, and although Gabriel had never really been to a play himself he thought that it would work out as a decent birthday gift for the man. His birthday had fallen uncomfortably close to the date they decided to actually date, creating a gift giving obligation (not that he minded, he was just terrible at picking out things for people) without granting him the deep, personal knowledge to have any idea about what to get him for his birthday. Truthfully, he only knew Remus for a few months but their chemistry was undeniable, too strong to wait and take things slow.
Gabriel was just terrible at this whole relationship thing. Like before when he was avoiding Remus, he had to cancel several times including a visit on his actual birthday. His reasons were entirely legitimate this time, actual work. Death Eaters and rogue werewolves were keeping him fairly busy, especially as the full moon approaching. He also ran late to everything, like today. He'd left Remus waiting at the theater for him thirty...forty minutes past the original meeting time before he came hurrying up the sidewalk. The Auror had come straight from work and was a little frazzled, babbling off a "Sorry, so sorry I'm late." before he planted a greeting kiss on Remus' cheek. "I couldn't get out of there." He'd quill whipped the mind numbing paperwork required after an arrest but there was just so much of it that there was no way to rush through it.
He did manage to make it though, right before the door closing. "How was your day?" he asked, hand slipping into the pocket of his jeans for the ticket. A look of confusion crossed his face. Maybe that was the wrong pocket, he checked another. His back pockets, too. They weren't in the pockets of his jacket, or stored with his wand. "Damn." the blonde cursed, patting down his pockets again with a little more urgency. "I um.. The tickets, I think I forgot them back at work." How could he have done such a silly thing? They could probably manage to apparate themselves in, past the ticket takers and ushers but that could be risky. "I'll have to go back for them. We'll miss the first act." They'd have to wait for intermission to be allowed in but... "The second act is supposed to be the best, right? Care to walk with me?"
