DESCRIPTION: You can tell by the way he walks that Sam is pretty confident in himself, he keeps his head held high and pout is almost permanently fixed on his face. He is always looking his best and is often seen with his signature shades. He clenches his fists when he's frustrated and gives rather intense stares when he's thinking which can often lead to slightly awkward or uncomfortable situations. His big green eyes and curly locks are often what draw girls in as it gives him a lost puppy esque appearance.

GENERAL PERSONALITY: Sam isn't really a bad guy, he just needs to grow up a little. He's very extroverted and loves meeting new people, he also loves entertaining children and is surprisingly good at babysitting. Sam is quietly intelligent, while people assumed he didn't pay attention in class he always managed to achieve impressive grades, and is fascinated by Divination. It was one of the few classes he actually paid close attention to the proffesor, Ophelia would tease him mercilessly for it. He's always up for a laugh or a hug and can admit when he is wrong. He has strong commitment issues although it is unknown as to why.

Character History:
Samuel Alexander Clarke, born on the 6th of March 1977, was the second child and only son of Eleanor and Jacob Clarke. Jacob was a muggle paediatrician working in London whilst Eleanor worked in the Ministry of Magic as an Obliviator. For the first seven years of his life, Sam was blissfully happy. Sure he and his sister fought a lot but they also cared a lot about one another. Claire had started to teach him all about magic, both of the Clarke children had shown magical capabilities as toddlers much to both of their parents delight. He lived in a large house, with a huge back garden and was being home schooled by a zany witch.
On the night of the 15th October 1984 - when Samuel was just 7 years old - Eleanor May Clarke, Jacob Thomas Clarke and Claire Grace Clarke were all killed in a car accident. Claire died on impact, Jacob on the way to the hospital and Eleanor a couple of hours later in a muggle hospital. Samuel's world had been turned upside down, all of his immediate family were now dead. With no one else to take care of the young boy, Eleanor's sister, Laura Belle Wolff, stepped in to take care of him. She refused to have his last name changed however, stating that Samuel had always seen her as an aunt and she refused to replace his mother. Samuel went from living in a large house in Epping to a small cottage in Ottery St Catchpole which was home to newlyweds Laura and Dennis Wolff and their cat Hettie.
A little under a year after Sam moved in with the couple, Laura gave birth to her first child Clara Eleanor Wolff named after her niece and sister. After his cousin's birth, Sam became more confident in himself and seemed much happier. Laura worried during the pregnancy that Sam would feel even more isolated from the family but Clara seemed to bring them all together. Four years later, when Sam was in his first year at Hogwarts, Laura and Dennis had their second child Jackson Thomas Wolff named after Samuel's father. Their last child, Eliza Grace, was born five years later.
He met his future fiance Ophelia Eleanor Prenderghast whilst attending Hogwarts. She was in her fifth year and he his six when they met formally at the Valentine's ball, having been in a few classes together prior to the event. Sam was taken aback by her beauty and intelligence and immediately wanted to know more about this strange witch. It didn't help that one of his friend's at the time had expressed interest in the Ravenclaw, which most definitely brought out his competitive side. Despite Samuel's reputation, Ophelia fell pretty hard and the two began dating a few weeks later. They pretty quickly became one of the most well known couples at Hogwarts and also the second most formidable pranking duo in the school (nobody could beat the Weasley twins of course) with Ophelia supplying all of the necessary items for awesome pranks. What sealed the deal for Sam was him discovering that Ophelia's middle name was her mother's first, he was a strong believer in Divination and believed it was a sign that she was the one.
Nobody really knows where Sam's commitment issues came from, seeing as he was raised in a loving and generally happy family environment. Before dating Ophelia, Sam had had a string of girlfriends from the age of 12 onwards none of them lasting more than around 3 months. This didn't really stop when he got older as his family hoped it would. Laura often attempted to warn Ophelia of her nephews tendencies, she'd grown rather attached to the girl for the short amount of time she knew her.
Regardless of the rumours and Laura's warnings, the two lasted for the rest of the time they were at Hogwarts. After Ophelia's graduation, the two moved in together and Sam began training as an Unspeakable whilst she began training to be a healer.
Months after graduating from Hogwarts, Ophelia discovered that she was in fact pregnant. Sam was in a complete state of shock, he couldn't be a dad. There was no way he could be a dad. Had Ophelia not have been so overjoyed by the news, Sam probably would have asked her to get rid of the child. Instead he held his tongue and proposed, which he was planning to do a little later anyway. They were planning on getting married a year after their engagement.
After the Death eaters infiltrated the ministry, Sam and Ophelia fled to France as Ophelia was a muggleborn witch. With little money and a basic understanding of the language, Ophelia and Sam were constantly in and out of jobs trying to make ends meet.
During this hard time, the couple had many arguments as stress levels were high and Sam spent more time outside of the house than he did in, normally down at the local pub.
One night, he met a beautiful French witch that he instantly felt a connection with. The two used to talk for hours about... nothing. The witch wasn't aware that Sam had a pregnant fiance or any sort of partner and began to develop feelings for the charming and attractive English man. Sam didn't tell Ophelia about his new friend at the bar, fearing that she'd over react.
As time passed, the other witch and Sam took their relationship to a more physical level. It started off innocent enough, just hugs, light touches and kisses on cheeks but before Sam could comprehend what was going on the two of them were in bed together whilst his fiance was out.
This went on for several weeks but then, one rainy February afternoon, they were caught. Ophelia was furious after discovering Sam's secret affair and immediately told him that she never wnated to see him again. True to her wishes, Sam packed his bags that night and tried moved in with the other woman. Though she too was furious, she had some strange undeserved sympathy for the man standing on her doorstep and allowed him to stay for one night before he moved back in with his Aunt and Uncle.
Sam did not receive a warm welcome when he returned home to his family, though his Aunt's shouting and Uncle's silence was nothing compared to the look of hatred Ophelia gave him when she found him in bed. He began work as an Unspeakable for the ministry of magic a month after he returned home, and avoided Ophelia like the plague after some school friends reported seeing her around in London with two babies. Sam only found out his children's names a year ago and was happy to know that Ophelia had stuck with the names they had decided on together. He thought it was a sign she still cared for him.
He's been trying to get back in contact with her ever since, to reconcile and meet his children. He's secretly hopeful that they could get back together, although he knows that the likelihood of that happening is next to none.
Sam currently lives in a one bedroom apartment in London with his new kitten, Lumos.

I have a few (pretty dramatic) plot ideas for Sam and Ophelia, whether they'll get back together or not is yet to be seen but I want to have the two of them see each other again at some point. I can't imagine it being a happy reunion...
