Jon couldn't precisely blame Theo for not being around the house the past couple of days; his house arrest had been wearing on everyone and he was sure that the younger man was off celebrating his exoneration. Having personally never doubted that Theo wasn't at fault (per se) (Theo could be a git at times but he was still Jon's brother, and Jon couldn't even imagine him doing the things that the Prophet accused him of), he still hadn't been pleased; the Homestead seemed somehow much more stifling when it was being haunted by an overly tall, broody "ghost". The absence of Theo, however, was somewhat relieving, no matter how guilty that made Jon feel. He, too, had decided to get out of the house and visit his baby sister, the ever-sweet Meg Ashland. Like her eldest brother, she worked in one of the more famous Wizarding watering holes, her sunny nature inevitably gaining her friends and admirers. Meg was a sweetheart, always able to make Jon smile (and, hopefully, vice versa), and it was always a good idea to check out the competition- and so, off to the Three Broomsticks he went, hands tucked in his jacket and smile on his face. He tossed a letter on Theo's bed as he went out, then Apparated away with a pop. The Three Broomsticks was inviting, and Jon smiled easily as he walked through the door, fair head turning this way and that in search of his sister. Having spotted her, Jon snuck up (or did his best to do so, he wasn't precisely small) on her, making sure that she wasn't holding anything irreparable before tickling her ribs by way of hello.

Meg was in a productively good mood today, for a number of reasons. Ever since her discovery that not one, not two, but three werewolves were working with her at the Three Broomsticks, Meg felt a sort of fierce protectiveness over the place. She always felt protective over the pub itself - it was her home away from home - but now she had its people to care about, too. Honestly, it was awesome. Nothing bad had actually happened yet besides some threatening letters, but Meg felt quite the little rebel - how could she not be in a good mood?
Her personal life played into said mood too, of course. Theo was a free man; which meant their home no longer served as a prison. Theo's moods tended to take over entire environments. When he was upset or down or angry - all three common in the past months - the house was dark and stifling. Meg loved her home dearly, but during those months, she couldn't get away often enough. Now, Theo was the one always away. In fact, she hadn't seen her brother in several days. She had just a little niggling of worry over this - it wasn't like him to just disappear entirely, despite their differences the family was still pretty close - but to be perfectly honest, the light and warmth that returned to her home in his absence entirely faded that worry into the background.
Thus, good mood in full force, Meg was making the most of her workday. She had all sorts of responsibilities at the bar, not the least of which included making sure the handsome man in the corner booth received excellent service. For the tips, of course. Meg was in the midst of refreshing his drink without his having to ask (excellent, I say) when a sudden tickling sensation caused her to burst into giggles. She whirled around and had to crane her neck up a bit to catch sight of her eldest brother.
Where Theo drew all sorts of facial expressions from her on a regular basis, Jon always brought a smile to her face. Her eldest brother was quite a bit older than her, and she had always looked up to him - figuratively, and literally. He was even bigger than Theo. Not too big for little sister hugs, though! "Hiya!" She wrapped Jon in one of these hugs now, then taking his hand and tugging him away from the booth to the bar before any brotherly questions could be asked. She slid onto one of the stools. "What's up?"

Jon's pleasant mood was catching, apparently, as he grinned in a friendly manner at whichever patrons grabbed his eye, even throwing a casual wink in the direction of one particularly pretty resident of the bar. However, he wasn't here to flirt today, and so his step didn't waver until he reached his youngest sibling, who was currently beaming at an attractive man in the corner. Jon raised his eyebrows in amusement and attacked, tickling up Meg's ribs with the practiced ease of someone who'd been doing it for 23 years, and beamed down at his little sister when she came face-to-face (well, face to... ribs?) with him at last.
He was rather gratified by Meg's smile, and his own beam amped up a couple notches in response, eyes crinkling up at the corners. "Hey, munchkin," he greeted, wrapping an arm around her shoulders with ease and letting Meg steer him away from the booth without comment (for now... it was filed away in his locker of Sibling Teasing Ammo). "Do I need a reason to wander into my favourite sister's bar?" he teased as they settled onto the stools, reaching out to tug lightly on one of Meg's locks. "You know me. I'm not working till later, which means I must seek out my natural habitat in the interim." He peered over the bar, craning his neck. "Do you stock any of the good cider, or is it all pumpkin-flavoured?"

Munchkin. They built up all sorts of little nicknames for each other over the years, and they always made Meg feel warm and happy (well, the nice ones, anyway). She was so blessed with such great big brothers (yes, both of them) and the best dad ever that every little thing made her feel grateful. She saw crumbled and crumbling families in her line of work all the time and it just broke her heart. She knew the relationships she had with her family were something special and something to be treasured at every little given moment, like squeezing her eldest brother just a little tighter as they made their way to the bar together.
"Oh my, am I really your favorite?" Meg gasped in mock shock, throwing her hands over her grinning mouth. "Absolutely no reason at all. Because don't tell Theo, but...," she would leave that one hanging, giggling and winking at her brother before reaching up to ruffle at his hair too. She loved them both, no worries. "Speaking of, have you seen the old Grumpy Pants around? Haven't talked to him in a couple days." Again, not like she could really blame Theo for wanting to disappear for a bit.
She couldn't blame her other brother for any of his reasoning, either. She nodded sagely at his answer, understanding exactly what he meant. She was just about to ask him if wanted a drink but he, of course, beat her to it. "Don't judge me," she stuck her tongue out at him. Meg loved all the pumpkin flavored things. "Yes, we have the 'good' stuff. Your favorite should be sitting riiiight...there." Meg laid out the mental map of the underside of the bar in her head, pointing her finger to a spot just a little to Jon's right. "Grab me one too, please." He had longer arms, after all. He could reach without her having to get up, surely.

Jon felt very content with his favourite sibling under his arm (he loved Theo, but would anyone really blame him for picking Meg as the favourite? he didn't think so) as they wandered towards the bar, both warm in body and mind. Family was very precious, even the sassy ones, and he felt very confident in knowing that his family thought the same. He had a place with them, no matter what.
"Of course you are," he scoffed, lighthearted. Then he thought the better of it. "Ssssh," he told her, and tapped her on the nose. "Otherwise I'll probably find something slimy in my bed, and you know how I feel about that." Meg ruffled his hair in return, and he left it, not feeling the need to adjust his tousled locks. Now was Family Time, not flirting time (and really, he looked fantastic anyways). He frowned at the thought of their absentee Theo, but not for very long. Theo was probably just enjoying his freedom - he knew that the house seemed a lot lighter now that he was exonerated, for sure, and Jon hadn't even been the one under house arrest. "No," he said thoughtfully. "He hasn't checked in. I thought he was kind of sick of me, though." Jon shrugged, though there was a little nagging thought in the back of his mind that he should try and find Theo ... soonish. "You know how we are."
His grin returned to his face at Meg's expression. "There's nothing wrong with pumpkin where it's supposed to be," he told her, and stretched out a long arm, standing up a little to snag two bottles of the cider. Returning to his seat, he deftly opened both bottles and handed one off to his little sister with a pleased grin. "Cheers," he said, "To pumpkin spice and it not being in cider." Jon winked, and took sip of the cider with an appreciative hum.

Meg wrinkled her nose when Jon tapped it, then slapped her own finger over her lips, mimicking his shushing of her with a wide grin. "Your secret's safe with me, favorite," she winked. This was a conversation only siblings could have, truly, and Meg thought it was what she loved best about having brothers she was close to. They really had no choice but to be her friend. As lifelong roommates, with the amount of fighting that went on among the three of them over the years, anybody less than a sibling would have been dropped. But the three of them, they always came back to each other. No matter what. So Meg found no problem at all in telling Jon he was her favorite brother...as long as she told Theo the same thing, on occasion.
If she ever got the chance to tell him. Jon said he hadn't seen Theo in a while either. This made Meg frown, even though she wanted to shrug it off as easily as Jon did. She liked to follow his lead on things, even now when she could make big girl grownup decisions all by herself. They just had similar brains, so why not? Eventually, she shrugged too. "Yeah, true. He probably needs the space more than we do, hey?" She said that last part only a bit guiltily.
And soon all guilty thoughts and concerns were lost to the wonders of cider. Meg rolled her eyes at her brother's adamant position on pumpkin flavoring - but really, the more he mentioned it, the more she was in the mood for the traditional stuff, too. Jon fetched two bottles and handed one off to her. She clinked the top of her bottle against his with a, "Cheers!" before taking a swig, rolling her eyes once again over the top of the bottle. "You ought to thank your lucky stars I've not got anymore pumpkins growing in the garden, or I'd be cooking them into everything for the rest of the month, just for that," she teased.
