Dear Mister Lupin,
'Allo! How are you? How are the kids? I hope Hogwarts is going well for you. I'm a little jealous, sometimes I'd think I'd like to go back later in life but I don't think I'm quite cut out for teaching. What have you been up to? I've drafted Theo into making a snowman with me tomorrow, you should come along. It'll be fun, we can all go to The Three Broomsticks for hot chocolate after, they've even got the little marshmallows. Maybe we can charm them to duel, last snowman standing wins and winner buys the first round.
I've also had a few thoughts since our last conversation. The potion looks to be coming along well and we've thought about trying to enhance the next batch with things that'll make the side effects more manageable. Do you know if it's been done before? I was thinking maybe a few ingredients from a Pepper Up potion might eliminate some of the malaise. I was also looking at alternatives to the potion.
Have you heard of Gildeory Lockhart? Poor man's gone a bit batty but he was apparently something back in his day. He's actually sweet and endearing in a goofy, sometimes incredibly frustrating sort of way. But anyway, he's written a bunch of books on his crusade against all manner of dark creatures (not that I think Werewolves are dark creatures at all!) and one of the books mentions that he cured a werewolf in Austraila by use of something called a Hormorphus Charm. Per the book it's a complicated bit of magic so I wouldn't be able to try it anyway but I've tried to find more information on it and have come up with absolutely nothing. Do you know anything, maybe? If we can learn more about this charm then maybe someone can master it and we can use it to help people. I've enclosed the book so you can read it as well.
I don't understand why people claim there's no cure for lycanthropy if a charm can reverse the effects? It doesn't make sense. It really can't be that obscure and difficult, can it?
Yours,
Mali
