Rustic and Earthy

Things were on the mend for Theo and Mali, but they weren't perfect. The pair needed lots of sweet moments to make it through the awkward first stages of reconciliation and so Mali made as much time as she could for Theo. Today she was playing hooky from the Ministry, claiming sick. It wasn't a total lie, Mali was sick, but it was in the best way. Since they made up she was madly lovesick for the tall troll, head over heels in a way that she never had been before. Their time apart allowed her to appreciate how wonderful he was and the unsettled feeling highlighted just how complete he made her feel.
Instead of working at the Ministry the star crossed pair were spending their time digging around in the dirt and planting flowers. It was a total whim when she showed up on Theo's doorstep with the urge to go to the nearest garden department. The fair haired Ashland was still not quite herself and Mali got the idea that some new flowers in her garden would cheer Theo's little sister right up. She was even dressed in an outfit that felt 'gardeny', denim overall shorts, bright yellow t-shirt and a (almost obnoxiously) big sun hat. Mali looked more than ready to garden, so much so that one would never guess she was likely the worst Hufflepuff to ever Herbology. She often forgot to water plants 'til their leaves were as brown and crumbly as the soil in their pots.
They managed to secure pots upon pots of flowers. Pretty white daisies, pink and purple tulips, some bright and cheery sunflowers. If it were up to Mali it would look like the Tesco garden department threw up on the Ashland lawn. Mali was on her knees in the dirt, right next to her handsome troll, humming a Celestina Warbeck song out of key as she trowled through the dirt with a hand tool. A stray vine from some magical plant or another snaked along the ground, intent on strangling the fledgling life out of a newly replanted daisy. Mali caught the sneaky weed in the corner of her eye and paused her digging to whack it with her hand shovel, scattering a shovel-full of dirt everywhere on the wind up. The vine retreated but Theo was left covered in the cast off gardening soil.
"Oooh." The witch lamented, scooting closer to the tall wizard so she could tease him. "You are really getting in to your gardening, aren't you?" Mali brushed sprinkles of dirt from Theo's hair before bopping him on the nose and grinning ear to ear. "You're very cute when you're all rustic and earthy, you know." Theo could be wearing a paper bag for a hat and a sack for a shirt and she would still think him to be the most adorable person in the world. He was hers and she was lucky and now that she almost lost him, Mali lived for every little moment with Theo.
