Cecilia, mentally pleased that Caldeira had taken over and proceeded to entertain Westwood, had returned to her meal in silence, hoping that the rest of the evening would go by faster. The last half hour had already given her a headache that Cecilia wanted gone via a night's rest. The next day was going to be stressful as classes would start and she had to start organizing her notes for her NEWTs revision. The sooner she began the better. At the moment, Cecilia successfully ignored Westwood and Caldeira only for a freshman to speak up. She turned to look at the newcomer, mentally sighing while physically raising a brow at said newcomer.
Without thinking about the request much, Cecilia moved away from Caldeira and unashamfully using the new kid as another wall from the annoying prefect. "Sit. Eat. And keep quiet. If you wish to talk, talk to Westwood and the annoying prefect." Cecilia told the boy bluntly but not as cold as when she spoke to said prefect. She may not like children but she wasn't going to scare them outright. They ought to scare themselves instead of her doing it for them.

Donald smiled politely at Miyu Kisaragi when he came over towards them to sit down. He had recognised the little lad from the sorting ceremony and had burst into applauds once the youngster had been sorted into Ravenclaw. It was always good to get new blood into the house. It had not been that long since he was a nervous little first year setting out on his Hogwarts adventure and he knew very well how the boy was feeling. Heck he himself still felt that way at times. It was because of this reason that he was absolutely appalled by @sophie2 and how rude she was towards the 1st year. His first experience of Ravenclaw house and one of his first of the new school was an older students being rude towards him for absolutely no reason. Some anger boiled up in Donnie. He was very tempted to shout at the older girl about how disgraceful she was behaving towards their new housemate but decided against it. Firstly a prefect was present and the hall was full of Professors, making a scene and getting detention would not be a great start to his third year. Secondly, it was Bartholomew Caldeira’s job to sort out Cecilia as the prefect. Thirdly and most importantly Don felt that having a row with his housemate in front of a newbie would probably scare the lad. Instead Donnie simply fixed Cecilia with a cold stare before looking towards the new boy ”Hey, you are welcome to sit with us. Ignore Cecilia, she is just the house grump. We are not all like her.” he gave the 13 year old another welcoming smile. ”Welcome to Ravenclaw by the way...” the spiky haired boy said to Miyu ”...I am Donald, Donald Westwood. But you can call me Don or Donnie if you like” his tone was as polite and friendly as ever as the Welsh wizard-in-training extended his hand towards the 11 year old to shake. ”If you have any questions about Ravenclaw, or Hogwarts in general I will be happy to try and help.” Don added, as if to try and emphasise that the house was not full of rude and obnoxious stuck up people.

Miyu raised an eyebrow at the girl's - @sophie2's - blatant rudeness towards not just him, but also at the two boys she was referring to. Then he rolled his eyes at her and took up her offer unceremoniously - well, she did say not to talk to her, so there was no need to thank her. It was a good thing that he had a small stature, so it wasn't hard to squeeze himself between two huge teens who pretty much towered over him. It would have been quite an amusing sight... if only he wasn't that poor soul who got stuck in the middle. The younger of the two boys was more welcoming, and he couldn't help to snigger at the 'house grump' part. Instead of returning the handshake, he simply held out a fist - for a fist bump, obviously! (Handshakes are for boring, stuck-up adults - like the snooty girl next to him.) The first-year gave the spiky-haired Donald Westwood a wide grin. "Now that's the warm welcome I need - nice to meet you! I'm Miyu, and I'll just call you 'Don' then. I can't wait to explore this cool castle for hidden treasures and some spooky fun!" Once the polite introductions and the like were out of the way, it was time for him to dig in! He filled up his own plate with food in no time, and began wolfing them down, starting with the drumstick. Yum, it was so good - almost felt like he was back at home, eating with his family... The thought of his parents made him sober up a little, and reminded him to send a note to them about the result of his Sorting. Though, the only way he could communicate with the world outside of Hogwarts was through owl post - electronic gadgets were pretty much useless junks within the enchanted walls and grounds of this school. It made him felt like he had just traveled back in time, back to the period when electricity hadn't been discovered yet. How troublesome! "Anyway, which year are you guys in?" he asked Donald and the older teen boy ( Bartholomew Caldeira - but he didn't know his name yet) in between food. "And what's that shiny badge for?" He had also noticed the excited chatter of the students across the Hall towards the line of adults flanked on each sides of the Headmistress. "Also, what's going on here?"

Bat raised his eyebrow at the older girl, tilting his head and then whipping a hand to his face to keep his glasses from falling off. " No need to snap my head off," he murmured cheerfully. " Just trying to help out." He turned back to Donald with a smile. " That's great!" he encouraged, listening intently as he added some food to his plate. " I'm not sure how good I'd be on a broom. My glasses have an escape habit, you see, and they fall off enough when I'm walking," Bat said thoughtfully. " But it's fun to watch! What do you like about Seeking?" he asked, and then looked up when a small boy asked to sit with them. His eyebrows came together at Cecilia's comment, marring his usually happy face, and he pursed his lips. However, before he had to say anything (and possibly dock points on the first night, not something he wanted to do) Donald spoke up, diffusing the situation nicely. Bat gave him a wide, thankful smile and decided ignoring Cecilia's temper was the best policy for now - he could talk to her later, but there was a first year to greet! That was far more exciting. " Yeah, welcome!" he said cheerfully, echoing Donald, gesturing to the free seat. " I'm Bartholomew, bit of a mouthful - you can call me Bat, though." He nodded at Miyu's enthusiasm, feeling heartened by the sight. At least the first-year hadn't gotten a terrible first impression of the school so far! " Can't think of a better place to be than Hogwarts. I hope you have a good year!" The group of them dug into their food, and Bat was partway through a baked potato when the first year, Miyu, asked them some more questions. Bat glanced at Donald, and started, " Well, I'm a sixth year. The badge means I'm a Prefect, so I'm here to help you out if you need anything, keep people in line, that sort of thing," Bat explained. He smiled, and teased, " So don't get in too much trouble!" Peering at the table, Bat added, " Those are all the Professors - we have a bunch of new ones this year. I think Donnie was saying one of them was a Quidditch player?" he looked to the third year for confirmation, cocking his head. ______ Donald Westwood, Miyu Kisaragi

When Bartholomew Caldeira encouraged him towards the quidditch team he couldn’t help but smile. Although the glasses comment was slightly odd he thought. Wasn’t their spells that helped to stick glasses to peoples’ faces until they wanted to take them off. To prevent that very thing from happening? The young wizard decided not to push it though. He was sure that the 6th year would be aware of such a thing. ”I like the thrill of seeking. You need to be keen and aware at all times and fast. It takes a mixture of flying and quidditch skills and puts them to the test. I guess I like the challenge.” he said grinning widely. However he did vaguely wonder if his Gryffindor sister was having a bad influence on him in regard to his competitiveness and hunger for a challenge. Don was happy to see the boy grin at him and say that it was the welcome that he needed. Being new at a school, away from home probably for the first time, was difficult enough without some jerk 7th year being horrible. ”Nice to meet you Miyu”Don said in a very friendly manner. He did tilt his head slightly when the 11 year old hold out his hand in a fist and it took him a while to figure out what he was trying to do. The Welsh lad nearly decided to shake Miyu Kisaragi ’s fist but realised his mistake before he actually made a fool out of himself. Donnie gave the fist bump. The pale skinned 3rd year could not help but to grin when Miyu said about exploring the castle ”Exploring the castle is always great fun. I am still discovering new things around here myself. If you ever need a tour guide though. I will be only too happy to help.” although he knew how much fun it was to explore the castle by yourself it was helpful sometimes to have someone to point out all the important stuff, like the library and where the kitchens where. At least in his opinion. The prefect answered the boy’s question first, after a quick glance towards Donald. It was a good thing because Don had a mouth full of carrots. After swallowing his grub and the prefect explaining his badge and the staff table The Welsh wizard returned to his input. He whispered to Miyu in a slightly hushed but playful tonne ”at please don’t get in too much trouble with anyone with a P badge on” before grinning slightly ”I am 13 so I am in my 3rd year. So still pretty new to this whole magic thing myself.” he gave a small shrug. Upon the mention of quidditch Don got very animated ”Yea, that man there...” he pointed towards Aje ”He is Aje Odili. He used to play for Puddlemere. I am more of a Catapults fan myself but still. He is a good player.” although never hidden his lilting Welsh accent was particularly strong with his excitement. It didn’t really cross his mind that someone may not know what quidditch is although he understood that muggle-born children are unaware of its existence.

Elizabeth rolled her eyes at Madi's dramatic statement. They'd had the same agreement for the past two years - it wasn't exactly ever spoken, but it was just sort of assumed. Madison could cause all the trouble she wanted, most of which Liza would turn a blind eye to, but nothing too big (how could she pretend not to notice if it was big?) and nothing that hurt anyone, or interrupted Quidditch, of course. And Madi had to put up with the occasional getting 'caught' by Liza so that the teachers didn't think she was a rubbish Prefect. It's Head Girl, now she corrected herself with a small smile. And the question of pranking Wolf, of course Madi agreed. But she did have a point. Liza thought about it for a moment before a grin lit up her face. "He's not Head Girl, though, is he?" she said. "I can just give him detention." Not that would stop the war, but it would be fun. "But we'd have to think of something totally awesome. It has to be good or there's not much point. He calls himself the King of Pranks, so we'll have to do something worthy." Elizabeth emphasised 'worthy', and added finger quotation marks. His latest self-proclamation was almost sickening by Liza's standards. How could anyone be so full of themselves?
The mention of Quidditch and loss of points lifted Madi's spirits temporarily, but she asked a question, and it was clear that Liza's answer wasn't satisfactory. Madi pushed around her potato until the insides were mush, and Liza went to add something else to try and cheer her up, but Madi cut her off before she could utter so much as a word. Elizabeth wasn't so happy about letting the subject drop this time, like she had in the hospital. She was worried for her friend, but she supposed Madi would talk about it in her own time.
"Yeah, sure," she agreed. "Well, did y'know the Head of Hufflepuff's animagus is a badger?" Liza grinned. "That can't be a coincidence. I heard it being discussed on the train by a bunch of fourth year Hufflepuffs. And, um…" Liza's eyes scanned the table of Professors, but nothing jumped to mind. "Well, what about you? You heard anything about any of them?"

Miyu was thankful that his mouth was stuffed with ham when Bartholomew Caldeira introduced himself - just as he had said, his name was really quite a mouthful to say! The first-year swallowed his food before he had the space to echo the teen's name, "Yeah, I'll just call you 'Bat'." The prefect bit made the young boy perked up a little. One of the most fundamental rules to become a successful prankster and master of troublemaking: to know who your 'enemies' were - those law-abiding ones - and avoid them at all costs. He made a mental note to keep himself out of Bat's presence if he wanted to have some fun not meant for that badge on his collar. Other than the badge, Bat seemed like a pretty chill person; still, best not to get on his wrong side in his first year here, and turn his Hogwarts debut into a sour recollection he couldn't erase or write over with better memories. Now that would really suck! "I'll keep that in mind," he drawled in response to their little prefect jokes, but not without a mischievous glint in his dark eyes. Miyu had heard about Quidditch - he knew it from his father's childhood stories, who had been on the school's team in Mahoutokoro - but he had never actually flied on brooms before, nor he had watched a single Quidditch match in his life so far. From the snippets of idle chit-chats he had picked up during the train ride, all first-years would have Flying lessons in their timetable, and they were allowed to join the house teams only from the second year onwards. There was an exceptional case in the past... but that person himself was an exception, anyway. Of course, he knew next to nothing about 'Puddlemere' or 'Catapults' - or any European national teams for the matter - so like Bat, he wasn't able to feel as excited as Donald Westwood or any of the Quidditch enthusiasts in the Great Hall about some Quidditch star becoming a teaching staff at Hogwarts. Though, he would love to be able to play for his house team, just like his own father. The game itself sounded really exhilarating to the eleven-year-old! "I've heard about Quidditch, but never watched or played the game before," he said, poking his steak with a fork. "My dad told me he used to be a Chaser, though he said with my build I can go for Seeker also." He shrugged. "I can't try out for the house team until next year, and I'll have to get my own broom." His father would be overjoyed and willing to pay for a decent broom to support him, but he couldn't say the same for his no-nonsense mother (he knew his mom loved dad a lot... except for the Quidditch part).

Cecilia all but ignored Caldeira and Westwood as much as she could. In her opinion, since it was her last year, she didn't see the need to make new attachments since next year, she wouldn't be coming back. There was little chance for her to see anyone younger than her after leaving Hogwarts and it was better to just keep a safe distance before anything started.
She saw the look Westwood gave her but she ignored it like she did when said boy called her 'the house grump'. Cecilia even ignored Caldeira who protested, rolling her eyes and going back to her dinner. Wishing more than ever for the feast to be over and done with. They had classes tomorrow so the sooner they rested the sooner she could plan her revisions and other activities.

Donald smiled at Miyu Kisaragi as he said he heard of Quidditch. He supposed that was a good thing but not watching or playing the game seemed like a nightmare to the 13 year old. The 1st year should be able to look at some of the school games this year with any luck. Hopefully the game would live up to the boy’s expectations from what his father had told him. The 3rd year took a sip of his pumpkin juice before spraying it out across the table upon the newcomer saying he wanted to go for seeker also. With a sheepish grin he looked around some of his housemates ”I am very sorry. I didn’t mean too. It was an accident and I apologise. I hope you can forgive me. I am sorry again....” he started to his fellow Ravenclaws in a rather apologetic voice. He could tell that his over apologising was starting to get irritating so he got out his wand and clearing up the mess. Slightly embarrassed he glanced towards the 1st year ”No you bloody well won’t” he said to him with a jokey manner with a massive grin on his face as if to try and make sure that Miyu knew that he wasn’t being entirely serious. ”If I become seeker I won’t be letting it go easily at all.” he informed his new friend in much the same joking tone. Still the 1st year had a point. Don would have a year’s experience of being a seeker, if he got that position, and would have a few more years experience on the broom . ”Well you should be having some flying lessons on the school brooms this year.” he said encouragingly. ”I am sure you will be good at flying in any case”

Madison snorted in a very undignified manner when Liza settled on giving Wolf detention. “Isn’t that like an abuse of power or something?” she asked before taking a drink of pumpkin juice. Although Liza’s enthusiasm was certainly catching. They’d make a prankster out of her yet. Head Girl. Hah! The professors had no idea who they had just handed a badge to. “You know, it’s a shame you and Wolf can’t get along. We could come up with some pretty epic stuff if you joined the dark side.”
It didn’t take looking up at Liza’s face to know she wasn’t happy about the change of subject. There were only so many times she was going to let this go before she sat Madison down and forced her to talk. But thankfully, that day was not this day. She mentioned the Animagus professor, and Madi finally looked up at her. “Yeah, Professor Odili. He used to play keeper for Puddlemere.” Keeper was the positon Madi had originally wanted before being handed a beater’s bat instead. But she had since discovered that she rather liked hitting things. Her eyes roamed the staff table for someone else to talk about. “The one with the curly hair, over by Professor King?” She gestured at their head of house with a fork. “That’s the new caretaker. She went to the wizarding school in Africa.” The one Madi could never pronounce right. “I heard she used to be an auror during the why. Why would a former auror decide to be caretaker at a school?” It sounded like a major step down in Madi’s opinion.

Donald's reaction made the first-year arched an eyebrow, before the surprise was quickly turned to disgust and shifted himself closer to the Cecilia to dodge the pumpkin juice spray from the older boy. "Hey, watch it." Rolling his eyes at the third-year's profuse apology, he asked, "What was that for?" Hearing the hint of competition in Donald's choice of words and tone, Miyu merely responded with a shrug, an amused expression on his small face. "I dunno - I don't think the positions are up to us to decide. Like, we have to go for tryouts and stuff to see if we truly deserve that place." After inhaling half the eggs on his plate, he continued with a grin, "I don't care much about the Seeker position - I'm totally cool with Chaser, so don't worry about me fighting with you over something trivial." On the topic about school brooms, Miyu's eyes widened. "Really? Awesome!" The joy was replaced by a wry smile in the next second. "Though, I've heard about how ancient the school brooms are from the other first-year chatters on the train moments ago. Even rumors about how some poor souls got carried away by the school brooms into some place called 'Forbidden Forest' and never heard of again." He flicked a finger on the golden goblet lightly. "With actual ghosts floating around the school like this--" He looked up at the four translucent figures floating around the Hall, interacting with the other students as they drifted by, "--they really make horror stories a hundred times scarier than usual." Cecilia had been glad to have been left alone once more and tried to ignore the whole noise that was getting louder and more annoying than she thought. She then felt some of the sprayed juice when Westwood seemed to have forgotten his sanith somewhere. Surely this kid knew her well enough to try and remember not to piss her off right? Cecilia narrowed her eyes at the boy, ignoring the first year who had moved closer to her. "Do remember that you arent a Gryffindor, Westwood. Ravenclaws have better table manners." she said as she wiped the splatter of juice from her hand with a transfigured tissue.
Hearing the first years story about what he had heard, Cecilia couldnt hell but snort. "First years arent allowed on the teams, littlest raven. And as for the stories, yes, some of the brooms are ancient, why the school hasnt replaced them, I'll never understand. And about the story of that student, untrue. The worse was someone getting a broken wrist or ankle after falling off a rogue broom." she said, slightly detached as to not make them speak with her again, just listen.
Again, Cecilia raised a brow. Muggles had a ridiculous imagination in her opinion about the supernatural. "Muggles have no idea how ridiculous their beliefs of the supernatural are. The ghosts here in the castle would never hurt anyone. Peeves occasionaly pranks a few but the Baron keeps him in line before going too far."

Donnie turned bright red after spraying pumpkin juice everywhere and gave his friends another sheepish smile. He hoped that they would not think any less of him for his actions. It was a mistake after all and everyone made them, right? The 13 year old was pretty sure that this was the case. However Donald did raise a bit of an eyebrow at @sophie2’s comment at Gryffindor. ”Sorry....” he started again feeling a bit intimidated by the older girl. ”...it was an accident. I swear. I apologise and hope you can forgive me for my rudeness. I am so sorry again.” he took a deep breath to try and centre himself a bit and stop his damned apologising. ”Although....i will have you know that my older sister is a Gryffindor.....” he said with a small glance towards the girl in question. ”....but given how she eats you might have a point.” he sad about to make a quip about his sister eating and looking like a pig but decided against it. Maybe that would be too vulgar. Besides if she heard of him insulting her like that it would not end well for him. He would admit to being something of a coward in that respect. Donald couldn’t help but smile at Miyu Kisaragi as he teased him slightly over the tryouts. ”Well I will still have a good two years advantage over you.” he concluded logically ”Although chaser is my second choice as well. And don’t worry. A rivalry can be friendly.. If, next year, you still want to be seeker than go for it. It not something I want to have a fight over myself.” he smiled at the newest Ravenclaw hoping that he hadn’t discouraged him. ”I think it probably due to budgets that they don’t change the brooms. If they still fly, they suppose it is adequate for the flying lessons.” he said to the duo ”Although I don’t really understand why they don’t continue past the first year myself. Sure we master the basics but the more advanced stuff?...Then again I guess the brooms won’t take anything beyond the basic.” he said thoughtfully ...and I guess the weight of some older students would snap the brooms anyway. he added in his own mind not aimed at anyone in particular. He nodded in agreement to Cecilia ”The ghosts are mostly fine. Some can be a bit....sulky. Especially the female ghosts for some reason. Most of them are alright to chat to. The Grey Lady, the Ravenclaw ghost, she can be interesting to have conversations with.” he said to the lad in a reassuring manner. He remembered how scared he had been when he first seen the ghosts in the school. The Bloody Baron was an especially nightmare fuel sight.

Miyu couldn't help throwing a look of irritation at Donald's profuse apology - his over-politeness was starting to annoy the young boy as much as to Cecilia. "Y'know, saying 'sorry' too many times defeats the intended sincerity in your apology," he commented in between bites. He glanced at Cecilia using magic to get rid of the juice on her hands, and the young boy stared at her with a mixture of awe and jealousy. How convenient. The part about Gryffindor made the first-year perked up. "Your sister's in a different house?" he asked, his brows furrowed in confusion. "So it's possible for families and siblings to be Sorted to different houses, huh?" He raised his head from his plate and looked around the Hall, glancing at the tables of the other three houses. "I've heard lots of stories on the train about the Hogwarts houses, but I'm not sure if those people are kidding or actually serious. Y'know, rumors about dirty fighting among houses throughout the school's history. Sounds petty - and horrible." As for Quidditch, Miyu merely grinned at the third-year. "Like you all have already said, I can't go for the tryouts until next year, but challenge accepted." Deep down he would probably still go for the Chaser position... Well, maybe giving Seeker a shot would be a fun experience, who knows? Regarding brooms, the young boy could only respond with a dry laugh. "Yeeeeah, budget. Isn't there some sort of magic to turn metal into gold? Alchemy?" He shrugged. On the topic about ghosts... Miyu's sight drifted to the pearly-white spirits floating around the Hall. Other than a really plump one near the Hufflepuff table, Donald was pretty spot on with his description of them: sulky. As if they couldn't figure out why they were still stuck in the living world after their regretful death. "They seem... normal to me," he mused, staring at the ghosts with unblinking eyes. "I don't feel the need to exorcise them. Not like I know how to anyway - I'm nowhere as good as my parents yet." Donald Westwood

The 13 year old was about to apologise to Miyu Kisaragi and @sophie2 for apologising too much but thought better off it. Instead, when the newbie pointed out that apologising too much defeated the object of apologising Donnie could only offer them both a very embarrassed looking sheepish smile. He couldn’t help over apologising too much no matter how much he tried to avoid it. When Miyu asked if Amy was in a different house he nodded. ”Yea that’s right”he noted the confused look on the boy’s face and understood. It could be easy to assume siblings would be sorted into the same houses. Heck Donnie was pretty sure he would be a Gryffindor until he was sorted into Ravenclaw. Not that he minded it. In fact he always preferred Ravenclaw house and was ecstatic to have been sorted into it. ”It is actually quiet common for sibling to be sorted into different houses. Sometimes even twins.” he glanced over to his cousins who have been sorted and wondered how they were coping with it all. He made a mental note to check up on them when he had a chance. ” The sorting is based on personality so I guess that since siblings have different personalities it is possible for them to be in different houses. Even if we also share certain traits and experiences.” Don took a bite out of a sausage and thoughtfully mused over that. He and Amy did share certain qualities, that was for sure, but both were in the right houses. It was nice to be away from his sister though. She could be a real bother to live with sometimes especially with how bossy she could be. But then again he also missed her when she was not around. A small sigh escaped his lips. Donnie could certainly try to spend more time with her things year especially since they both could go to Hogsmeade. ”The inter-house trivially can get pretty nasty at times. Especially between Gryffindor and Slytherin. Ourselves and the Puffs seem to try and keep mostly out of if. For one set of reasons or another. The headmistress has set up an inter-house competition though to promote peace between the houses. It has made things better.” he said matter of factly. ”Although I am sure the rumours you have heard or mostly hot air. There is nothing too vicious in it really” he added as if to try and re-assuring the 11 year old. Don smirked when his new friend said challenge accepted ”I look forward to it” A bit of competition hurt no-one after all. A thoughtful look came on the 13 year old’s face when the boy said about alchemy ”Welll...” he started. Donald thought that the boy had a point. Wizards could produce anything with magic if they wanted too. They really did have the power to end want yet they still operated under market-capitalist principles. ”...I believe there are laws that prevent you from conjuring up items and, then, of course, some items you conjure up out of nothing will not last. I think changing metal into gold is banned.” he didn’t agree with the laws but they are what they are. The working class boy sounded rather bitter about it to be honest. Life would be a lot easier for him and his family if it wasn’t. ”I am pretty sure the ghosts would not like being exorcised anyway. I think most of them are too afraid to pass on. That is why they are hanging around still” now that he thought about it, it all seemed rather sad really. ((OOC: Sorry for the late and rather large reply))
