Food, drinks and good conversation awaited after the wand raising ceremony. Originally the reception was to take place in The Leaky Cauldron but as rumors surfaced that the Ministry was watching The Three Broomsticks and why, Luna thought it would be more appropriate to further thumb their noses at the Ministry by holding the after party there. It was easy enough to set up, she was friends (kind of.. sort of.. at least she was an employer of) Meg, the bartender.
A warm fire crackled in the pub's fireplace, tables were shoved off to the far walls to clear a dance floor and a charmed radio played The Weird Sister's greatest hits. Firewhiskey and butterbeer were free flowing and people filled the room. Many spoke fondly of Tonks, sharing their favorite stories and a shoulder to cry on. Luna still sported her temporarily pink hair as she weaved through the crowd and onto the dance floor.
Her mood was much lighter than it had been hours ago. Their peaceful demonstration went as well as could be expected. It might not bring around actual change by itself but hopefully it got people thinking and it was a little push back against the Ministry. Maybe werewolves would see that not everyone was willing to sit by on the sidelines and watch the Ministry stomp all over them.
Luna swayed off beat to the music, a vague smile spreading across her normally dreamy and absent face. She enjoyed dancing even if her version of it wasn't everyone's cup of tea. The witch lifted her arms over her head and spun on her heels. Happiness bubbled up in her chest, this was certainly more Tonks' style. Not a stuffy or sad funeral with everyone dressed in black with tear stained faces.
She stopped her spin, shaking pink hair out of her face. The former Ravenclaw offered her hand to the nearest warm body, she didn't care who, asking "Wanna dance?"

Typically when someone died, there was a very dreary funeral where everyone dressed in black and cried into dainty handkerchiefs followed by a reception where they all cried some more and ate far too many little hors d’oeuvres that were so fancy a person couldn’t even tell what they were supposed to be. But Tonks had not been a typical person. So it made sense that the reception after the wand-raising would be anything but dreary. In fact, it was quite literally a party. The Weird Sisters were blasting on the radio while everyone ate and drank and laughed. Crystal couldn’t help feeling this was how Tonks would’ve wanted it – for people to remember her life with laughter, not sit around and mope. She also would’ve loved that their little party was taking place in an establishment the Ministry suspected of employing werewolves. In fact, Crystal would’ve bet every coin currently in her pocket that if Tonks could’ve seen them all right now, she would’ve been laughing her ass off.
Crystal herself was busy laughing her own ass off as she swapped stories with the Weasley twins about several of Tonks’ more memorable clumsy exploits. Honestly, how that woman had passed the stealth class was beyond Crystal. She could trip over air. Had done it often, actually. There had been more than one time out on Order business Crystal could have sworn Tonks was going to get them killed. Of course, the more nerve-wracking it had been at the time, the more hilarious it seemed now.
She was wiping tears of laughter from her eyes as she excused herself from the twins to hunt down some Firewhiskey. Might as well have a proper toast. She never made it to the bar though. The improvised dance floor was in the middle, and Luna’s hand came out as Crystal made her way around its edge. “You know I can’t dance,” Crystal told her with a chuckle. It wasn’t that she was klutzy. She just never really knew what to do with her body when it came to dancing. But Tonks would’ve told her that was half the fun. Memories of the bubblegum-haired auror laughing as she made a complete fool of herself dancing around the Burrow at Christmas before tugging a protesting Crystal into the fun caused the lion to take Luna’s hand and let herself be tugged onto the dance floor proper. Just because she didn’t know what she was doing didn’t mean she couldn’t have fun figuring it out. Tonks had taught her that. What better way to honor her memory?

Luna couldn't feel sad when wrapped up in the music. It was upbeat, although her movements were a bit off beat. She spun, swinging her arms and shuffling her feet. It was therapeutic to move with abandon, disregard everything else in the world except the music and her own head. It was a shame to dance alone and when Luna stopped and solicited a partner she had a taker in the form of a fellow Order member. The wispy pink haired witch shook back dyed strands and smiled her normal dreamy smile. "Oh, everyone can dance. You might mean you can't do it well, but I should think that doesn't matter much." Lions do not lose sleep over the opinions of sheep and Lion was just another animal to add to her menagerie of titles. Eagle, Hare, Lion. The former Ravenclaw didn't bat an eye over the judgement of others. Life was too short, Tonks painfully illustrated that.
She tugged the woman onto the dance floor and the music changed from something upbeat to one of The Weird Sisters' slower songs. Luna took Crystal by the waist and swayed enthusiastically back and forth on her feet, pulling the auror right along with her. For the most part she tried to keep in rhythm with the song, adding in a twirl or two and sashaying across the dance floor. When that song ended Luna clapped and bounced on the tip of her toes. "They're fantastic, aren't they?" She ran a hand through her hair, fluffing it a bit.
The next song was back to something upbeat and Luna squealed her delight. She nodded her head to the beat and bounced from foot to foot. It spoke to her, the music and she shimmied her hips and swung her arms up above her head. Luna closed her eyes and lost herself to the beat. During another twirl she grabbed hold of Crystal and spun her along with her, dragging her across the dance floor and eventually off of it. She twirled and twirled and spun right over to the bar where her dance ended.
Breathless, Luna wiped a layer of sweat off her forehead and ordered two butterbeers from the bartender. When the bottles arrived she slid one over to Crystal and took a long sip of her own.

Of course Luna had something to say about Crystal’s inability to dance. She had a point though. What did it matter? Tonks certainly wouldn’t have cared. And that was the reason they were here today – to honor her.
The music changed to a slower song, and Crystal found herself swaying back and forth with Luna. This she could handle. Slow dancing didn’t really require much coordination. Even Tonks had managed to pull it off without tripping or stepping on someone’s feet. Besides, Luna threw in enough twirls and such to keep it interesting. Crystal was grinning as she followed Luna’s lead. The blonde’s enthusiasm was catching. Crystal found herself clapping too as the song ended. “Yeah, they really are.” There was a reason Tonks had loved them so much.
The squealing that followed made Crystal laughed. It was, admittedly, a really good song. Although Crystal wasn’t quite as gifted at dancing. She clapped and nodded along, throwing in a few twirls and slides of her own. The movements were completely lacking in any solid choreography, but whatever. Like Luna had said, that wasn’t what mattered. This was about having fun. And Crystal had to admit that she was in site of her utter lack of dancing ability. Luna tugged her into a twirl, and Crystal laughed as Luna spun her all the way over to the bar. The auror was breathing hard but smiling. Luna ordered some butterbeers from a sweet and quiet girl, who brought them back with a smile. Crystal nodded her thanks as she took a drink of the cool refreshing liquid. She turned around so she could lean against the bar, her elbows resting on the surface as she surveyed the party. “Tonks would’ve liked this.” Crystal missed her best friend fiercely. Tonks had been like a sister to her. But being here, listening to her favorite songs with all of her favorite people… It made things a little easier somehow. “It’s almost like she’s still here in a way.”
