Not that they ever really got a break from beating back the Dark forces of the world, but it had been quite a while since a formal Order meeting was called. Smaller groups of people got together here and there to plan and execute said plans...but tonight, there was going to be a discussion. Many things had happened in a short amount of time and while it didn't seem that anyone was showing their full hand yet, the Order of the Phoenix liked to be prepared. Large scale Death Eater attacks, the torture and murder of their own, the resurgence of creature revolt, corruption in the Ministry...Order members were pretty damn good at recognizing this pattern at this point. Something was growing, and if at all possible they were going to nip it in the bud this time. If they were all on the same page and committed to the same causes, the point of this discussion, they might even have a chance at ripping the whole plant out at its very roots. The kitchen of what was now Harry's home and once Sirius' slowly filled in with Order members. Remus, leaning against the sink, was painfully reminded that he was one of the oldest members left as he looked upon the many young faces. That was painful, yes, but also hopeful in a way, he supposed. There would always be someone to carry on their work; but in his opinion those that went before him, even the older ones, always went too soon. Remus had to physically shake himself from these thoughts once most everyone had arrived and people were starting to look around expectantly. He pushed himself away from the counter and addressed the room. "Thank you all for showing. I think we can all hazard a guess as to why this meeting has been called. Anyone want to suggest where they think our attentions are most warranted at the moment? Because there's about a dozen different ways that could go at the moment." Remus had no real interest in leading this discussion, or the Order itself. He understood his position of seniority afforded him a voice, but there were both older and wiser among them in the crowd.

Crystal was having one of her strangely serious moods again. All the insanity that had sprung up in the last few weeks was just a little too reminiscent of the war. Work had turned into a madhouse, and most of what little free time Crystal now possessed was now being spent at Addy’s place trying to piece together the frustratingly low amount of information they had related to Julius Stark’s death. The combination of all that had led to Crystal thinking about her parents a lot more than usual lately. About the war they had given their lives to and the legacy they had left behind. And whether or not she was living up to it. It was a lot, to be honest. Her more jovial prankster side tended to gravitate toward the Weasley twins anyway, but Fred had his own serious streak of sorts since the Diagon fires that Crystal found to be oddly empathetic when she got like this. So it was only natural that when Remus finally called the meeting to order, Crystal was leaning against a long counter next to Fred and his twin.
She waited a moment for someone to say something, but the place was quiet. It was definitely hard to know where to begin. Then again, maybe that was a starting point in and of itself. “I vote we divide and conquer,” Crystal said, crossing her arms as she shifted her weight a bit against the counter. “Between the Eye and Godric’s Hollow and now the dementors… There’s too much going on at once. And it can’t be a coincidence that it’s all happening at the same time. At least some of it has to be connected. But we’re not going to see it like this. It’s like trying to unravel one of Molly’s sweaters. No offense.” She flashed a semi-apologetic look at the Weasley patriarch before returning her attention to the room at large. “Yeah, one thread might unravel everything, but there’s no way of knowing which one that is. If we split up, focus different people on different problems, maybe at least one group will actually get somewhere.” That was actually quite a speech, coming from Crystal. She wasn’t really much of a strategist. She might occasionally offer up a few tweaks to the battle plan, but mostly she just took her orders and got to work. She was a woman of action rather than words. But apparently all this looking into Stark’s death was putting her in a more strategic frame of mind.

Lavender had caught wind of an Order meeting mostly by snooping through other people's business. Bored, she had decided to pay Won Won a visit and overheard various members of the Weasley clan discussing attending such a meeting. Surely Lavender's invitation had been an oversight. After all, could one be more dedicated to the cause than someone who died for it? She thought not. The spectral Gryffindor drifted through Grimmauld Place, having let herself in by phasing through the door into the run down townhome. Lavender's nose wrinkled as if she could smell, the home not up to her usual high standards.
She found the group in the kitchen, just as Remus began to speak. Clearing her throat, Lavender cringed at how Umbridge-ish it sounded before speaking up. "I think your attention is most warranted at investigating why I was left out." The ghost girl glided over to an empty seat and lowered her Not Body down as if she were sitting, not hovering just above the cushion. "You obviously discount my usefulness to the cause, a cause that I hold very near and dear to my heart. Well, that is if I still had a heart. Being dead I don't find much use for it." She fluffed translucent formerly blonde curls and smoothed out the ghastly Hogwarts robes she was doomed to spend eternity in.
"Unless of course" she started, tilting her head innocently "You discriminate against those without a physical body in your organization and if that's the case then you should be ashamed. Dumbledore would never stand for such a thing." Name dropping seemed like a good idea, what did she have to lose? They really couldn't do anything about her presence there. Only the ministry could force a ghost out and for that The Order would have to confess their secret little society to the authorities.

Harry had propped himself against the counter, hands wrapped around a very large mug of tea, as the Order assembled in his kitchen. It was still an odd feeling, owning Grimmauld place, and it was odder still to realize how young the Order was, how far they'd come ... and how they were still needed. Being on the side of justice was sometimes like standing against a tide, trying to hold firm against the constant beating of the waves, he mused, and slurped at his tea, trying to wake up. He'd been scouring Knockturn Alley for information recently, but hadn't had much luck. Fieldwork was difficult when everyone knew what you looked like.
Remus opened the meeting, and Harry hummed thoughtfully into his tea as he asked for suggestions. Crystal, as usual, was first off the mark, but he couldn't reply right away as Lavender jumped in. Who invited Lavender? Harry eyed her warily as she spoke, then lowered his mug, stepping in to parry and hopefully subdue any bickering that was likely to start. "You have a point, Crystal," he said finally, "But I think we need to do some prioritizing. We've got what appears to be three different fronts to choose from, and we can't just hold everything off like a siege. Better to put more effort into one to see if we can't diminish a threat." He wrinkled his nose. "The question is, which one. Death Eaters? The attacks from other sources? The Ministry?"
He tilted his head at Lavender. "Do you want to help?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at her translucent form, meeting her eyes and avoiding the scar. "I'm sure that you could be very ...helpful." If she could be stealthy, that is, perhaps she could snoop around the Ministry. The more they knew... the only problem was if she could refrain from critiquing the fashion sense of the Minister in favour of being sneaky. But again, Harry decided to go the diplomatic route and hold his tongue.

Aje had turned in his auror badge but was determined to still maintain his presence in the Order, as discreet as it had been through most of his tenure. He was the strong silent type, preferring to work mostly on his own. It wasn't that he was unkind or liked to be particularly standoffish but his shyness kept him at a distance, turning down invitations to dinner or leaving quickly after meetings while others were busy chatting about their regular lives and making plans. It was business for him, maybe a small part of it was self protection. Auror work was dangerous enough, but Order work was even riskier. Aje was a sensitive soul and would grow to care for people very easy if he wasn't on his guard. He wasn't a man that dealt with loss easily, as evidenced by when Raven fled. Keep them at arm's length and he wouldn't find his heart vulnerable. Granted, maybe he could ease up on that a little bit, lower the walls. The Order hadn't lost anyone in awhile.
He stood quietly in the kitchen, arms crossed and head thoughtfully inclined and eyes trained on his shoes as he listened. He respected everyone in the room, but a great deal more for Potter. The boy had been dealt a tough hand by life, having lost everything and been thrust into the role of savior at a young age. His deck had a few good cards though, the love and support of the Order wasn't a replacement for lost parents and friends but it was something. Meadows talked about dividing and Aje shook his head, looking up. "You divide strength that way. You risk being too weak on all fronts. Werewolves are only dangerous one night a month. Dementors cannot hide. Death Eaters have proven to be resilient, they are sneaky. They hide themselves and no one knows any better. The focus should be there."
The meeting was interrupted by the appearance of a very young looking ghost. She was one of the ones he met at Hogwarts during his trip there. It pained his heart to see someone so young in such a state, obviously unhappy about it. Her friend, Potter, seemed to be willing to entertain such a notion and as sympathetic as he was he had to speak up. Aje shifted, recrossing his arms. "That is not wise.. She is angry and childish. That is dangerous." Perhaps not as dangerous as upsetting someone who was obviously privvy to sensitive information and as he described, childish as illustrated by her behavior. "I am sorry you are dead, Miss, but you cannot put others at risk because you are unhappy about it."

Parvati was not too surprised by the order meeting. She was expecting it from quite a long time in fact. Ever since they had to deal with the attack on the London Eye, the skirmish at the StMungos and not to forget the werewolf attacks and most recently the dementors attack. The attacks have increased in number and so did the number of innocent people who were dragged into the mess. Some were lucky to esacpe unscathed, but some were not so lucky. It was quite sad for her to see the pain in others eyes, but the pain doubles when it is one of their own. She may not know them personally but she still felt a terrible loss. At times she feels as though they are still at war.
Sighing to herself she listened as Remus called in for the order meeting. Both Padma and herself were present for the meeting as they sat at the table in the dining room of Grimmauld Place. She was momentarily surprised when Padma elbowed her and spoke, ' Lavender is here' She lifted her head and sure enough a familiar face glided inside, Lavender she thought sadly. Seeing her friend like that only made her feel a lot sad. She was about to greet her friend when Lavender bet her and began to address the whole order members. She shook her head and decided to talk to her friend, but Padma once again shook her head and in a low voice she said talk to her later, not now. Let the others deal this. You are no good at this and will further complicate things' and as much as Parvati wanted argue with her sister, she knew that Padma was correct.
She listened as Crystal spoke about dividing their forces and trying to solve the problem and Harry did back the idea while pitching in his own points. Parvati spoke up "I think I agree with Harry and Crystal on this. We have to divide our attention, but we also have to make sure that our attention is placed on things which hold priority. The ministry can be looked into by people who are already working there, and as that is a threat which is going to be there for quite some time, we don't have to hurry it up." She paused a few seconds and leaning forward she continued "but the same can't be said for the dementors, we have to take quick action as it is quite dangerous and the most serious threat at the moment. Rogue dementors are not good news to anyone." Parvati leaned back in her chair when she felt that she did speak her opinion, and hoped that others understood what she meant. Like it or not, she knew that the ministry was going to last for some time and not much could be done there. But the other two were problems which had to be dealt with fast in her opinion.

This meeting had been a long time coming - the attack on Stark, the London Eye, the murder of Stark, the werewolves, the Dementors. Suddenly everything was blowing up, and all at once, it seemed. And no one knew where to look or what would come next. Crystal gave a good speech - Lyra was certain she'd never heard her give such a strategically motivated speech before. But she spoke of dividing their attention, and Lyra couldn't agree with that. She wanted to voice her own opinion, but before anyone else could speak, there was another voice in the conversation. The voice was familiar, and Lyra looked up to see the ghost of Lavender Brown. She hadn't seen the girl in a while, and Lyra's eyes were drawn to the ugly scar marring Lavender's once perfect skin, and the almost condemning Gryffindor robes that still hung from the girl's ghostly shoulders. Lyra understood that being dead could make one rather bitter, but sending her to do a task was not a good idea. If she slipped up - let herself be seen, she could give away the whole order - or even be exorcised (though Lyra wasn't exactly sure that would be such a terrible thing). Aje contradicted Harry, and Lyra nodded her head in agreement, but didn't speak up. It would only upset Lavender further, and they didn't need two dead people screaming down the halls of Grimmauld Place.
When Parvati agreed with Harry and Crystal upon dividing their attention, Lyra spoke up. "I don't think putting priority on everything is a good idea. I think we should focus on the Death Eaters, and tracking them down. Yes, the Ministry is stepping out of line, but I don't think they're our immediate threat." Lyra threw an apologetic look towards Remus, because he, as a werewolf, would probably suffer the most from the Ministry's new path. "The rogue werewolves, as Aje said, are only dangerous one night a month - unless they're death eaters, in which case they're part of the big problem. With the Ministry fear-mongering people, I don't think there'll be too many people on the streets during the next few full moons, anyway. The dementors, on the other hand, are a problem." She glanced at Parvati. "Parvati's right. Dementors on the loose are never good. The last thing we need is our newly-built, fragile hope and happiness being shattered by them. When He-Who— Voldemort– attacked Hogwarts, he had scores of dementors on his side - I remember. I've thinking about it for a while now. Is it possible they were sent by followers of– of Voldemort?" An unwanted shiver passed down Lyra's spine. The dementors terrified her, and suggesting such a thing meant suggesting that death eaters had infiltrated the ministry again - not exactly a cheerful prospect.

Apparently nobody was on board with the divide and conquer idea. Which normally would’ve been fine by Crystal. She wasn’t usually the one planning these things. People told her who to go hit and she did it. But now, when she was so bloody sure it was all connected, being shot down was irritating. And then Lavender was there being her usual dramatic self. Crystal groaned and dropped her head to rest against her right palm, her elbow propped up on her left arm crossed over her torso. This right here was the reason they didn’t invite Lavender to these things. Everything always had to be about her.
Parvati seemed to back up both Crystal and Harry, for all the sense that made. But it was better than nothing. Winters, on the other hand, was siding with Harry. Yet another person shooting down the Ministry as unimportant simply because it seemed like a long-term problem they could just tackle tomorrow. Crystal couldn’t help feeling a little put out with her fellow auror. Although that wasn’t necessarily Lyra’s fault. Really it was Crystal’s own inability to make any progress on Stark’s death that had her in such a bad mood. “And what if the Ministry’s tied up in all this? There’s no way in hell the Death Eaters got Stark without inside help. And targeting him, of all people? It’s too bloody political. Somehow there’s a connection there. And it’s dangerous.” The enemy of my enemy might not be my friend, but the two could certainly kick up some solid chaos together. The note Stark left proved that, at least in Crystal’s mind. But she couldn’t really go any further without explaining everything she and Addy were working on. And for some reason that she couldn’t quite put her finger on, she just wasn’t ready to share that yet.
Lyra did have a good point though about the Dementors possibly being connected to the Death Eaters. Crystal held out her hand, palm up, as if that proved her point. “See? What if it really is all connected? Then it’s not dividing our resources among different problems. It’s attacking one giant problem from several different angles.” Maybe Crystal was jumping at shadows here. Or maybe she just had tunnel vision. But she was like a hunting dog that had caught a scent. There was something here. There had to be. And regardless of what the others did, she was determined to stay on the Stark issue to the bitter end. Although the lack of results was definitely frustrating, and apparently it was starting to show because Tonks was frowning at her like she knew something was up. Crystal had a feeling there was a very long conversation waiting somewhere in her near future. But for now she just crossed her arms and waited for someone else to jump in. Clearly this was going to be a losing battle. Might as well stop wasting her energy.

Well, she never! The ghosts mouth dropped open at being addressed in such a way. At least the tall, quiet one was addressing her. Others seemed to pay her no mind at all. Even Parvati! Hadn't they been best friends!? Didn't they understand what she lost in the Dementor attack? They could all mull around and argue over where to start but Lavender had lost Seamus. The Dementors kissed him, stealing away his soul and leaving behind a shell of body. Even when that body aged and died there was no soul to either move on or remain behind with her. He was gone, the love of her life. Young love was often intense and fickle but not what she had with Seamus. It was long lasting, persisted even past her death.
Lavender, faced with this crushing loss, wanted to do something, anything to help and half the Order couldn't even acknowledge her presence. A ghost didn't have much, so her own feelings were very important to her and she was very hurt. It wasn't her fault that all she could offer them was a spectral body that could be useful very much. She never asked for death, she died fighting valiantly alongside all of them even before she knew what they were. Lavender was only part of Dumbledore's Army, had no knowledge of the Order but still charged into battle to beat back the darkness because it was the right thing to do and she felt she was owed at least the acknowledgement that she was hovering standing there.
Lavender tossed back dull grey curls in such a way to nonchalantly put her death wound on display. Many people tried to avert their eyes whenever they looked at her but damn it, she was proud of that wound. It meant she was brave, a fighter, someone who wouldn't crumble when darkness loomed. "I could be a lot of help!" she said, anger blazing in her voice. "I hear lots of things that could be useful. I go wherever I damn well please, locks or enchantments or no, and last time I checked, I don't feel pain so none of your secrets or information or even why I'm somewhere couldn't be tortured out of me like they can be from you!" The Gryffindor ghost petulantly crossed her arms over her chest, raising her chin. "I fought just like all of you did. I died for this cause and I want to help!" If the Darkness rose up again and took over, her death would be in vain. If she had to die, she at least wanted her death to mean something. Before she left Lavender wheeled around on @patilp, her anger peaking. "You! You're supposed to be my friend Parvati! We were best friends for seven years!"
Gods, she wished that she was capable of stomping her feet and slamming doors. Her exit from the meeting was considerably less dramatic than she wanted it to be. She walked glided out into the hall, seething with rage that quickly turned into silvery ghost tears and semi-quiet sobs the moment she was out of the kitchen. The further away she got, determined to use the door like a person would, the louder the mournful sobs got. Eventually, she passed by Walburga Black who was disturbed by the ghost's grief. The moth eaten curtains flew open and the woman began to shriek.
Lavender, not to be out shrieked, wheeled on the ghost. "SHUT UP! TAKE YOUR TACKY 1950's STYLE AND SHOVE IT!" The portrait did not, in fact, shove it. She wailed and lamented about mudbloods, half breeds. House of her fathers. The works. "THE HOUSE OF YOUR FATHER REALLY NEEDS AN INTERIOR DECORATOR! IT'S SO OUTDATED I NEED TO ASK THE GREYLADY IF I COULD BORROW HER PETTICOAT!" Halfbreeds! Scum! "Ohhh! So many halfbreeds! In your kitchen getting their halfbreed germs all over your precious pureblooded house! There's even a werewolf! That scum defeated your precious dark lord, you batty old hag!" She laughed at the portrait, tossing her hair and for a moment the sass felt good. The portrait abandon her rant to wail shrilly. "I'd cry too if I was an ugly old toad stuck staring at this tacky wallpaper for the rest of my life! Your father had no taste!" Laughing and feeling immensely better, Lavender continued out of the house leaving the Order to deal with the shrieking portrait.

Aje crossed his arms again, leaning back against the kitchen counter and he listened to the conversation. His head was inclined thoughtfully, gaze down on his shoes. The former auror pursed his lips together into a line and shook his head before looking up. "I do not think anyone doubts that they are connected, Miss." Aje ran a hand over his face and scratched at his chin as he searched for what he wanted to say. "But they are not equally as pressing and division makes everyone weak. We need to be strong."
Aje pushed off the counter to stand up straighter, he always thought his message was better received if he didn't slouch but stood tall. His large size easily demanded attention and carried it's own air of authority. "I do not know that I am explaining right?" His gaze swept the room, searching for a flicker of understanding from the faces peering back at him. "Ọlọrun, bi o si sọ o?" he muttered under his breath, sounding exasperated as he ran a hand over his short hair. There was a proverb his mother used to recite, something that he felt applied here perfectly. "If creeping plants would unite, they can tie up an elephant. The most dangerous threat needs to be taken on together, I think. If you divide among many little threats, even if they are connected, then you are weak against all."
He leaned back against the counter, satisfied with what he said but then adding an afterthought. "Besides, if these are all connected and you break a link they are not connected any---" Ah, he winced. The ghost girl had gotten angry, was ranting. He tried to ignore it but it was hard when she made her grand exit and decided to poke at the painting of Walburga Black. The woman shrieked, the ghost shrieked louder and shriller and the meeting was losing it's direction.
