It appeared that the career day had been getting off to a lovely start, with students actually converging on the tables rather than the food. Minerva swept among the tables, nodding and smiling at each of their occupants, and was pleased to see that there was actual interest in the event. Perhaps, she mused, she could make it an annual thing. Mind on the future, she was headed back to the top of the room (and a cup of tea) when, of course, something had to disrupt the day. Minerva spun on one heel, robes snapping out around her with an audible crack, and her gaze narrowed in on one of their resident werewolf students, @julia7 . The Ministry representative, Lyall Santel , was trying to placate him, and Alec Wayland was approaching to intervene. Minerva followed, robes swishing purposefully, expression indicating that the student was going to regret his outburst. " Mr. Turner," she said in a cool tone, stopping just short of the group. " I understand that you are overwrought, but that is no reason to resort to name calling and being rude. Ms. Santel has graciously come to speak to students about her department and, if you would listen rather than accuse, perhaps you could hear what she has to say." Minerva lowered her tone, aware of students around them trying to listen. " If we resort to assumption and accusation, are we any better than those who call beasts and beings monstrous?" Her expression and tone softened. " If you think you can remain calm, stay. If not, go. The house elves have more of this," she gestured behind her, to the table of food he'd been interested in, " In the kitchens." Minerva added, " I would like to see you in my office later." She raised an eyebrow, and then turned to Lyall. The other woman seemed calm, and thoughtful- and Remus liked her, which was an excellent recommendation. However, that was not the only reason Minerva murmured apologetically, " I'm sorry for the disruption. Some of our students have a keen sense of justice." she appraised the younger woman. " I'm afraid this is not the welcome that Hogwarts had hoped to give you!" She also inclined her head at the Quidditch player in thanks. " Mr. Wayland. Thank you. I'm afraid you've been pulled away from your fans..."

Lyall let out an irrepressible gasp when a wand reached her forehead. She raised her hands in surrender, forcing herself not to step backwards at the poison in her attacker's voice. She was a Ministry worker, she knew how to take the criticism. She saw the anger turn to fear in his eyes and her own widened. Clearly a victim of that blasted legislation, nothing else could inspire fear at the sight of her. She felt her throat close up in shock as he declared that the country hated her. "You don't think I haven't noticed?" She managed to force out, her voice trembling only slightly. "Half of the country hate me because they think I had a hand in the disgusting legislation that was passed, the others because they know I didn't." She heaved a sigh of relief when the wand was lowered, not unwilling to admit to the terror she had felt.
Soon another player in their scene arrived, the Quidditch player. She decided not to mention that she wasn't completely unarmed; a flick of her wrist could have sent her assailant flying without the aid of a broom. "Yes, thank you." She said, her voice finding it's ability to hide fear, the ability she had cultivated for so long. "Don't worry yourself, not about me." Oh, how she loathed her job sometimes. No doubt this Quidditch player thought she was the monster behind the legislation, too. She could count on one hand the ones who believed her. She watched as he spoke about his career to placate the student, wondering if she'd ever have been so good at calming children. Even now the wound stung, every time she watched a parent with their child, a teacher with their student, she felt dark memories claw at her heart, reminding her of everything she'd lost.
She was almost glad when the arrival of the Headmistress wrenched her from her thoughts. She turned her face slightly as the student was berated, knowing that to watch would to be soil her name further. She looked back as she was spoken to. "I-It's alright." She became suddenly aware of a desperate need, a sudden urge to let someone - anyone - know that this wasn't her fault. "It wasn't me. You know it wasn't me, right? I didn't want this, they didn't ask me about this." She turned her face again, composing herself. "I'm sorry," She said, after a moment, "Thank you Mr Wayland, Headmistress. And I know that Hogwarts is still the great school I remember," She smiled warmly and truthfully at the older woman, "Perhaps even better."
She nodded to both, before returning to her post. Perhaps the incident would at least draw people to learn about the ministry.

Toby actually believed that the woman could decide to harm him any moment. In his mind he was just one step ahead. Attack was the best defense, or so he believed. The boy had always acted on instinct before reasoning if his actions were right or smart. It was something that stuck with him from the year where he had to survive on the streets as a twelve year old. People would take him in only to cast him away when they found out what he was. In the end he no longer was sweet, curious and open. He’d closed himself off and did what seemed to work: scare people away before they could get close enough to hurt him. The more time spend the more he realized that what he was doing was wrong. He was in Hogwarts for Merlin’s sake! This exact action had got him kicked out the orphanage. Where he had threatened a nanny after finding out they were just keeping him for the sake of teaching other children. Most people who lived there were scared of him but none dared to say a word. Tobias easily snapped when it came to his condition and what it’d cost him in his young life. Perhaps a part of him had believed that if he’d hurt and scare this woman that his losses would be justified. He wanted something or someone to blame or he’d turn all the anger and sorrow to himself which would eventually eat him away. The woman’s voice was different it had cracked and seemed to tremble a little. He’d said all those awful things in the hopes to be left alone but instead she stayed to explain herself. Tobias narrowed his eyes, this woman was only trying to confuse him. And she partly succeeded. What did she mean? It was her bloody department if anyone would have something to say it was her. If she really was that much against it she’d have quit her job. But it seemed that money was more important that what she claimed were her ideals. He wanted to yell and tell her to shut up when another person approached him. Just then he started to realize he was causing a scene and about anyone could see this. Toby scoffed at the man who called him a coward. “I doubt she doesn’t have any tricks up her sleeve.” It was typically something for the ministry to hit someone in the back. The boys from the streets had told him all about the two faced ministry. And he was sure a grown up witch could handle herself against a boy who was still in progress of mastering magic. However the man was not wrong; Tobias was a coward he was scared of about everything. He’d only been part of this magical world for five years and there was still so much he didn’t know. It had been a rollercoaster. It started off as a happy adventure of going to a magic school. However that happy adventure turned soon in a nightmare. Blue eyes turned down to the ground he started to feel embarrassed and regretful. He’d once again acted like an animal instead of a thinking human being. His emotions and instincts were in control of his mind. For some time he was heading the right direction and then August happened. He didn’t dare to look up. Toby was disappointed in himself but still he couldn’t find the courage to apologize. The boy chewed the inside of his mouth. What he’d give to disapparate towards his dorm and lock himself in for a good few hours… Then the man spoke again and Tobias blinked up. “Ehh?” He hadn’t expected to be treated with kindness after his rude and improper behavior. “I-I’ve never played Quidditch,” he mumbled as if he were confessing a sin. His face was still pale from before but his cheeks were red. Despite how much fun it seemed and how eager he was to try it out, Tobias had never gotten the chance. “Sir… please don’t tell-” Speaking of the devil. A shiver went down his spine when he heard that voice call his name. McGonagall may not be the devil but she was as terrifying. “Please don’t call me that,” he whispered almost pleaded. Toby hated being called by his parents’ name. It always came like a slap in the face, Oh crap… Oh shit. This couldn’t mean any good. Judging by what happened only a month ago, he was almost certain she was going to expel him. Everything was over. Damn why did that woman have to go after him? If he had managed to get away none of this would have happened. His face returned into a frown but due to the scolding. The boy altered his gaze to his shoes and bit his lip. “You could have told me she’d come,” he mumbled. Perhaps there had been an announcement but he’d missed it. Even then he had no friends who would have informed him so he was stuck where he was. Tobias was someone who acted first and thought when it was done. And his outbursts were always quite intense and often with violence. If he had this information beforehand he could have mentally prepared himself or have decided not to come. Some things, events or people could trigger tantrum within the boy. He tried to flee this time so nobody would get hurt but he hadn’t made it with all the results being clear. He sighed and mumbled a "Yes, ma'm." But he wasn't quite sure if it would be wise to stay. It was easier to run away rather than face a crowd after doing something like this.

It was the yell that got Nicole’s attention. She’d know that voice anywhere. She turned around, expecting to find Mikko launching himself at her for a hug, and instead found himself hanging in midair in the most ridiculous dragon costume she had ever seen. What the hell. Nicole crossed her arms and gave him a scrutinizing look. She couldn’t decide if she should laugh or hit her palm against her forehead. This kid, man. Then he started trying to swim through the air and that made up her mind. She started laughing. “You are without a doubt the worst dragon I have ever seen,” she informed him. But she was smiling as she said it. Actually, it was a little impressive that he’d made a costume on his own. And thought to levitate it. But no way would Nicole ever admit that to him.
Mikko tried to get himself down and instead dropped his wand. The look on his face as he realized he was stuck was priceless. Nicole sauntered over to him with a smug smile. “Now why on Earth would I do that? This is just too darn funny.” She reached out and gave his forehead a push, causing him to float backwards a short distance. Definitely funny. But then there were puppy dog eyes, and Nicole had never been able to resist the puppy dog eyes. “Fine! Just stop looking at me like that. Geez.”
She pulled out her own wand and flicked it through a spell, breaking the charm he had placed on his suit. Gravity promptly took over. Served him right. Nicole shook her head as she slid her wand back into her pocket. “You always have to make an entrance, don’t you?”

The Ministry woman seemed a bit shaken by the ordeal but not altogether put out. Her comments sounded a little self loathing to him and honestly she had his sympathy. Alec was a reasonable man and understood largely what was happening in the world was out of the woman's hands. Legislation was passed by the Wizengamot, not individual departments and rumor had it (Alec was friends with lots of reporters, mind you.) that some of it came directly from the Minister and anyone who opposed was threatened. It could be a horribly misinformed rumor, reporters were gossip hounds but not great at fact checking, but Alec thought it was plausible to say the least. The Quidditch player nodded his head with a half hearted smile at her word of thanks. "No problem." The kid spoke up, stating that he'd never played Quidditch and Alec's smile gained a more genuine quality. "That's tragic. Everyone should play Quidditch." Just then the Headmistress approached, giving the distinct impression of an enraged mother hen, horribly disappointed in her chicks. Alec cleared his throat and looked very steadily at his shoes. It didn't matter that he was no longer a student himself, Professor McGonagall had a scolding aura to her. Like he was about to be sent to Flitwick or detention. When he heard his name he looked back up again, running a hand through already tousled hair. "Oh, they'll manage." The students left behind were busily examining the league cup on the table. Shiny thing tended to draw a lot of eyes. A chord of sympathy thrummed uncomfortably in his chest and once the Headmistress was done with him, Alec placed a hand on the kid's shoulder. "So you've never played Quidditch?" he asked, steering the student away from the woman he assaulted and towards his own table. "Have you watched the game, at least? It's simple enough to learn." ____________________ @julia7 Lyall Santel Minerva McGonagall

The idea of a career fair was rather daunting to Cassidy, a girl going into her final year at school with absolutely no idea what she wanted to do with her life. She supposed a career fair was exactly the sort of place to figure that out...but it was still intimidating. As soon as she entered the Hall, she was already overwhelmed with the options. Cas had her interests, sure, and the subjects she was good at...but none of them really seemed to line up with any career that she would want. After a quick glance around at all the tables, Cassidy headed for the snack table first. Maybe she'd do some better thinking on a full stomach. Cas ignored what was going on around her as she munched, mentally forming a game plan for when she turned back around to face the Hall and all its tables. When she finally did turn back around, that plan sort of fell apart. Some...things had gone down, apparently. Her first interest was of course the dragonologist - who didn't love dragons? - but she seemed rather occupied with that silly Gryffindor at the moment. Cassidy turned away, figuring she also might want to talk to the Head of the creature department at the Ministry. Cassidy didn't really know how she felt about all the stuff coming out of the Ministry nowadays, but that woman looked nice enough when she came in. When Cas' eyes skated over her this time, though, she looked a bit shaken up. Cassidy had completely ignored what just went down, but she figured she might want to give the woman some space before inundating her with questions. In the meantime, Cassidy made up her mind and started walking back among the tables. She would never pick herself for a wandmaker - it seemed far too delicate and specific work for someone like her - but she was intrigued by some of the things sitting on Jihoon Oh's table. On her way there, she passed by Jasmine sitting at a table with a blonde she recognized as the bartender of the Three Broomsticks, and she waved at them both. When she reached the wandmaking table, her hands went immediately to touching the wand ingredients he had set out. Without looking up, she asked, "How do you get the hairs and stuff, off the creatures? Is it ethical?"

Being back at Hogwarts was lovely, really. It hadn't really been that long ago since Eoin had been in Hogwarts himself, but the nostalgia was still there, even for the days when being a Muggleborn hadn't been the safest of things to be. The Great Hall was just as he remembered it (of course it was, he wasn't old, and Minerva McGonagall as fierce as he remembered her, and it was a little bit like coming home. Not quite like it, but similar. But today he wasn't here as a student - he was here as an Adult with a Career, to speak to little students about where they might want their lives to take them. It was a heavy responsibility, and he'd done a lot to prepare despite the fact that his home and workplace were stressful places to be right now. He had a smile on his face, his nails were painted the Hogwarts colours (one to each finger, and a black thumb with a tiny Hogwarts crest on it) and he was ready for the students with some potions, some pamphlets, and even some of his handmade magical bubble bath. The first person to bump into his table wasn't a student, though, but a wispy blonde who was somewhat familiar. They were around the same age, Eoin mused, so she must have gone to school at a similar time - was this perhaps the infamous Luna Lovegood? Eoin tilted his head thoughtfully, then realized she'd asked a question. " Oh!" he exclaimed. " Well, as a pharmacist I work for the hospital to distribute potions. It's about health, not as much making the potions -a lot of that is writing out prescriptions, keeping the cupboards stocked, keeping the ingredient supplies stocked, suggesting alternate courses of potions, and making sure that there aren't bad side effects." He shrugged. " A potioneer is a more general title that's not necessarily health related, meaning I make all kinds of potions and potion- related things and like to experiment. It's kind of an academic thing. Like making - do you like bubble bath?" he scooped up a bottle to show Luna with a little smile. Luna Lovegood

Elias was rather intrigued by the idea of a Hogwarts career day. He'd always loved the stars, true, but even he'd never had a clear idea of what he'd wanted to do with his life, resulting in drifting between the Muggle world (he did, after all, have a Muggle degree in Astronomy and astrophysics) and the wizarding one, ending up travelling the world and learning, always learning, but not holding down any particular job. It had taken the upheaval of an end of a war - and all that had personally accompanied - for Elias to take the Astronomy position at Hogwarts and 'settle down'. It was why he hadn't offered himself for Career day, not sure what value he'd have (and besides, all the students knew they could come talk to him whenever they liked).
However, his intrigue meant he attended, at the very least to examine the food and at the most see what there was to offer. There was a wandmaker (interesting, but a bit too dry for Elias - he liked charmwork, not the tedium of sitting at a workbench), a dragonologist (not a job he'd like either), and even a charming young woman with a hospitality table, which Elias scoped out to see if he could, perhaps, snag a little bottle of butterbeer. He was seriously considering this as he looked across the room when his gaze slid to a young, dark-haired man with the bluest blue eyes he'd ever seen, and Elias' mouth almost dropped open.
He had a weakness for blue eyes.
Mysteriously, his ex-fiancee's face didn't superimpose itself on his vision at that thought - it was only the incredibly gorgeous man (he had to be a Quidditch player, that physique...) who Elias could see. It felt a little like tunnel vision, and Elias resisted the urge to rub at his eyes, thus smudging his eyeliner, instead shaking his head a little as if that would help.
Elias wanted. He wasn't sure if he was capable of great emotional attachment at this point (that was a lie, he knew he was, he just didn't want to get hurt - what if the other man was heterosexual, or liked breaking hearts, or, or... ), but he wanted, and while it was probably inappropriate to pursue some of these wants in front of his students, he was seriously considering heading over, armed with pick-up lines and an alluring smile.
Of course, the students had to have an altercation, and Tall, Dark and Gorgeous headed over to help out, eventually towing the student towards his own table. Elias leaned against a wall and considered the situation, dark eyes sparkling, wondering. At the very least, he should be able to find out the man's name...

Honestly.. Alec wasn't a hundred percent sure what he was doing, his hand on the boys shoulder as he steered him towards the table. He wasn't great with kids. He used to have a younger brother but that wasn't really someone Alec liked to think about much and it never groomed him in the way of how to handle the little ones. Not that this one was so little. He was lost in that thought when his attention wandered from the teenager to the rest of the room, gaze catching a pair of pretty dark eyes from across the room. They belonged to an attractive man, a professor by the looks of it, leaning casually against the wall. He held this gaze for a moment, enjoying the funny stirring in his stomach, before he broke the long look from across the room, eyes shifting down. Alec tried hard to project the overconfident persona that the fans and magazines painted for him but down to his core, the man was almost painfully shy. It was a throwback to his days as a awkward teenager, mercilessly teased for his bad skin and gangly frame. Alec might have bloomed from ugly duckling to gorgeous quidditch player but one never quite outgrew insecurity without the proper motivation. When he looked up again there was the hint of a smile on his lips. The man looked intriguing, to put it mildly. Something was drawing Alec in, making him want to get closer. Maybe say something witty to coax a smile out of him. Instead, the very famous and handsome beater returned to his table where his big shiny league trophy sat. There was a smattering of children gathered 'round and he nudged the kid towards them before resuming his position behind the table. He stole little glances at the man with the sparkling eyes. There was a new feeling bubbling in his chest and he wanted to feel impressive, maybe a bit cool. The Captain.. did he mention he was famous? Yes, a famous Quidditch captain, leaned back against the wall as he watched the students shift through the Puddlemere swag and paw at the trophy centerpiece. Alec picked up his paperweight from before, tossing it up and catching it. That certainly looked cool, right? Unfortunately for the dark haired beater, he tossed the very heavy paperweight a little too high, distracted by staring at the beautiful creature, and conked himself on the head with the little beater bat. He groaned, the bat hitting the ground with a thud. Real smooth, Wayland. Real smooth. ____________________________________ Elias Lâu, @julia7

Tobias squeaked up when the Quidditch player touched his shoulder. However he relaxed only a second after. This man had been nothing but friendly even when he had acted like a brat. His tense shoulders slumped down as he gazed up to the man. The boy shook his head at the first question. “I’ve always wanted to try, but it never came to it. I have had flying classes in my first year,” he told the Quidditch player. He had loved the flying classes back then. However Toby had been a whole different person in his first year. At Hogwarts one didn’t get to play unless you tried out and made it to the team. But seeing Toby had no experience or what so ever he never signed up for the try outs. He had no broom and the orphanage wasn’t going buy brooms where there was money and clothes that needed to be bought. He nodded at the question of having watched a game. “Yes, I’ve seen some school plays,” he said with a small smile. Sure he loved watching the games but he’d be happier if he got the chance to play once.
They reached the table where he saw Kingsley and some other students. He bit the inside of his cheek. Kingsley was part of the quidditch team and would surely not like it if a famous quidditch player stood close to Toby like this. Not ready for another argument or brawl, he slipped out of the man’s touch and went to study whatever was stalled on the table. He felt a pair of eyes gazing their way and when Tobias turned around his feeling seemed to be right. He saw the Astronomy Professor but the man was not looking at him or the other students, instead he was looking at the Quidditch player. When he gazed at the man who had pulled him from the situation he had been in, he noticed that Mr. Wayland was looking at his Professor’s way. “Do you happen to know Professor Lâu,” he asked as he tilted his head in curiosity. But the Quidditch player seemed to be in his own world right now. Toby blinked as he watched the man do something which looked silly. What a strange man. He didn’t quite understand what was going on but he shrugged and decided he didn’t care.

Jihoon turned his wide smile on the first student to wander his way, who peered at the table that he had in front of them and started to touch. Jihoon nodded approval at this method of learning - touch was a very good way to feel connected to wandworking - and folded his own long hands in front of him attentively when the student posed an important question to him. " It depends on the wandmaker," Jihoon explained, extending a finger to touch one core - dragon heartstring. " And their philosophy." Was philosophy taught at Hogwarts? Jihoon resisted the urge to go down a mental tangent and focused on his life's work. " For example, dragon heartstring is more difficult to get without harming a dragon than unicorn tail hair is to get without harming a unicorn. Wandmakers often try to get cores from dragons that have passed away naturally, for example - and you can get quite a lot of heartstring from one dragon - but some prefer it to be the other way." Jihoon wrinkled his nose. " I don't really like that idea much, do you? It's better to think your wand comes from a happy creature than a sad one." He smiled at Cassidy Bradshaw, eyes bright. " D'you want to weigh your wand?"

While Elias was blatantly ogling lost in thought, daydreaming about Gorgeous with the blue eyes, said gorgeous creature was talking to the student, smile confident and reassuring. Elias wondered what the smile would taste like, and smiled at himself in a self-deprecating manner, amused. He was going to go to the hospitality table, he swore, just one more look... and then their eyes met, sending a rush of butterflies into his throat. Elias forgot about moving and stared, watching eyelashes sweep downwards and veil the blue, blue eyes briefly before the Quidditch player looked up with a smile. The butterflies were warm in his chest and Elias cocked his head, exposing a pretty jawline, and gave a coy smile back, somewhere between you're gorgeous and I want to pull you behind a tapestry and kiss you until we're out of breath.
Keeping his thoughts and expression as G rated as possible, Elias looked down at his hands, thoughtfully, not wanting to stare too long (wanting to stare too much). They traded glances from across the room, stirring new butterflies in his chest every time, the other man watching him and Elias watching as the Quidditch player started to toss and catch a small object in the air. He was momentarily distracted by the player's biceps before he realized that the object had hit the floor and the gorgeous man had just hit himself in the head with it.
Elias wasn't going to look a gift beater's bat in the mouth, and he strode over, not instantly but fast enough to demonstrate concern (and to make his hips sway as he wove through the tables). "Are you alright?" he asked, tone low and amused, looking up into the very, very blue eyes of what was possibly the most gorgeous man on the planet, no contest. There were students at the corners of his vision, though, so Elias made an effort to be professional. "The students look a bit concerned, you know."

'It depends.' Cassidy never really got an answer she liked when it started out like that. 'It depends' usually meant - yes, most of the time everything is okay, but sometimes it's not. This bothered her probably far more than it should, but the girl was at a sort of crossroads in her life. She'd grown up believing in fairy tales so fervently she practically lived in them (and in a way, she did; Hogwarts was nothing short of fantastical). But just like her very own real-life fairy tale proved to her time and time again - a lot of things were 'it depends'. Sometimes things were good, sometimes they weren't. Cassidy was old enough to begin to understand that now, but that didn't mean she had to like it. She would listen, though. The young man at the booth didn't seem like a bad guy and Cassidy was very much still naive enough to take things like that at face value. She tilted her head in consideration as he talked, unable to hide a grimace at the thought of having to actually collect dragon heartstrings from the source. She was equally unable to hide her utter disagreement that someone could kill a dragon just to take its heart, and she was about to voice as much when the man's face changed. Jihoon Oh revealed what kind of wandmaker he was then, and Cassidy closed her half-open mouth into a smile to return his. "Exactly," she agreed with a nod. "Do you have to collect your own materials?" That was sort of intriguing to the girl, really. Interacting with creatures and making sure they were treated with respect. Cassidy was sort of opening up to this whole wandmaking business, and when the man asked her if she would like to weigh her wand, she nodded enthusiastically. "Yes please." She didn't really know what that meant, but there was only one way to find out. She pulled her wand from her pocket and held it out.

Momentarily distracted by philosophical tangents and wondering if he should ask if philosophy had been added to the Hogwarts curriculum, Jihoon did his best to refocus, as he had been asked to come to the school as a representative of his profession and should then, probably, attempt to be professional. He nodded thoughtfully at the student, making a face in sympathy at the thought of collecting fresh dragon heartstring. If her face was anything to go by, the Slytherin girl didn't think much of wandmakers who did that kind of thing, and Jihoon had to agree. She was soon smiling, though, and Jihoon was too, his eyes disappearing into his grin. " Well," he hummed thoughtfully, " It does help if you at least get to choose them. Think of it like - " he paused, then brightened as he thought of a good metaphor. " Like being a chef! If you pick your ingredients out, the more involved you are in that process the better the final dish will be, right? Because you understand your ingredients." Jihoon was very pleased with this analogy. " So no, I don't always go collect ingredients directly, but if I don't I make sure I interact with people who do it fairly and carefully." The student was flatteringly interested in his profession, and Jihoon was quite possibly the most present in the moment that he had been for a while, as he was able to talk about one of his passions with an interested party. He accepted her wand carefully, and turned it over in his hands, humming with interest. " It likes you," he said to surprise her, and grinned, placing the wand carefully on the scales. " A good wandmaker can tell what your wand is made of by listening to it," Jihoon explained, " But to help us learn, or for people who don't know how to listen to it, that's what these scales are for." He carefully laid the wand on the scale, treating it with the reverence due to a wand. " See here," he tapped a row of small symbols and watched as the needle swung back and forth, " It's telling me that it's swishy, 9". Can you see where it tells us about the wood and core? They're a bit trickier, since there are so many possible combinations." Cassidy Bradshaw

Meg's little bottles of butterbeer were indeed drawing eyes to her table - but mostly from the (apparently thirsty) other adults in the room. No visitors strolling up just yet. That was fine - Meg was more than happy to just enjoy the castle and enjoy the students as she watched. They were quite the entertaining bunch, after all. Some of them a little more reserved in the Great Hall than when she served them in the Three Broomsticks, of course...and some of them most certainly not reserved at all. It took just a little bit for the energy in the room to pick up, but when it did...oh my. Meg was turning her head this way and that at sudden spurts of action around all the different tables, half expecting to see old Peeves floating by any moment now. There seemed to be a little tension rising, which made Meg frown, and then smile again as Actual Real Life Alec Wayland handled the issue expertly. And handsomely. With that little spat done with, the hall turned back to normal mutters about careers and not much interesting to look at. Meg was observing the chipped polish on her fingernails when a girl finally sat down at her table, and Meg looked up at her with a bright grin. "Hi!" She laughed at the girl's comment. "Thanks. I'm doing hospitality. You're absolutely right - once they're all thoroughly fascinated, they'll surely be thirsty." She winked at the girl, and then leaned forward with a grin. "Did you see Alec Wayland over there? Merlin's beard!" Jasmine Watson indulged herself in Meg's basket of butterbeer, which made the bartender very happy. "Great observation. You'd make a good bartender, smarts like that." She tilted her head to the side, considering the girl a moment. "Though I'm probably not supposed to say that to you unless you're of age?" She hadn't really considered the age appropriateness of her occupation. Ah, well. Couldn't hurt too much, most Hogwarts kids grew well acquainted with their first pub love (the Broomsticks, of course) by the time they were fourteen at the most. "It's nice to meet you Jas. I'm Meg!" Meg stuck her hand across the table. "I'm sure you have. I bartend at the Three Broomsticks." Meg took a pause to pillage her own supply of butterbeer, popping open a bottle for herself and taking a swig. "Sooo...is there anything about the fascinating world of hospitality you want to know?" She took a quick glance around. "I could tell you a good bar fight story, as long as you promise not to tell Professor McGonagall."
